We go hands on with Angry Birds Space for BlackBerry 10

We made the announcement recently that Angry Birds Space was now available for BlackBerry 10 and with it costing $0.99/£0.75 I thought it was worth giving you a hands on video if you are in two minds whether to part with your cash or not.

The answer is simple - yes you should. The game is awesome and well worthy of its price tag. If you are a BlackBerry PlayBook owner then I'm sure you will be familiar with the full set of Angry Birds games available. But if not I had better explain that things are a little different with the 'Space' version.

With 170 levels to get through there is more to the game than just shooting the new birds at the pigs. Gravity plays a role in most levels and it does take a little getting used too as you will see in the above video. It also brings us a whole new challenge and that I like. I've been lucky enough to play Angry Birds Space on other platforms and in my opinion it's the best version yet.

The other bonus is that yet another HUGE game has made its way to BlackBerry 10. As far as I'm concerned apps and games are what most smartphone users want in this day and age, so with the current BlackBerry 10 selection (and growing) it could well be the deciding factor in consumers making the switch over to BlackBerry.

As usual with Angry Birds the graphics and sound effects are superb and the game play is beautifully smooth. What more could you ask for? The game is available for both the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 so everyone will be happy!

Still wondering why AB Star Wars isn't available for the Playbook, when all their other titles are. Likely the perceived death of the platform, maybe even the imminent arrival of BB10 and all the app availability. Let's hope that's all it is. Wonder how purchased apps & games would be handled in an OS upgrade situation?

That's a very good question.

On everything else you said: Apps keep getting updated for the PlayBook and Gameloft is still releasing titles (ie. making money) with the "dead platform". It's a matter of what each dev wants to do.

Another case of separate versions for BB10 and PlayBook. Pisses me off. Why isn't it free to download since I already paid for it on the PlayBook?

The game is pretty good on my Q10, although I'm tired of Angry Birds at this point. Only negative is that I have to zoom out almost entirely to see the target points.

Angry Birds should be retired though. Overdone. Old.

It's annoying enough that you have to pay for both the Z10 and PlayBook versions. But €2.69 on the PlayBook and only €0.89 on BB10?? Why 3 times the price??

Love this game... but, by the way, the "Star War" versión, still waiting for an update which includes the ability to us for getting access to the last levels. So far it's a sign reading "coming soon"
