One for the boys? Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D on BlackBerry 10

By James Richardson on 17 May 2014 05:07 am EDT

This one is the style of game I absolutely love and could play for hours. Unfortunately it's not a native BlackBerry 10 one, but an Android game that you can download from Snap - full instructions at the base of this post for newbies.

To cut a long story short you control a helicopter gunship which you must maneuver around each level destroying enemies which will appear on the map up at the top left of the display. At the base you have forward and back tabs as well as your weapons - which include machine guns and rockets and you also utilize the tilt controls on your BlackBerry.

As you'll see in the above video - the enemies on level one are static but as you progress some vehicles will move and there will also be infantry soldiers which will fire back at you - all adding to the excitement.

The game itself runs perfectly as far as I can see apart from one feature that's slightly frustrating. And that's that it currently doesn't save your progress - so if you get to a certain level and then go to play the game at a later date you'll need to start from the beginning again. Fingers crossed this will be fixed soon, but in the meantime it's well worth a download if you've an all-touch BlackBerry 10 device as the game is free.

Features include:

 • The game uses operation control optimized for 3D flight, which makes it easy for anyone to get absorbed in the game.
 • Some of the world's most powerful combat/multipurpose helicopters appear in the game. Each helicopter has its own unique and interesting characteristics and can be mounted with various weapons and devices of your choice.
 • You can mount a variety of weapons and special equipment of your choice, such as radar and booster, depending on the characteristics of your helicopter.
 • Episode mode consists of story missions that were created based on actual stories of various wars and terrors that took place.
 • After you played an episode, you can either challenge yourself and move up a level to play the game at higher degree of difficulty or enjoy playing a customized mission

Apart from the current lack of the game saving your level it's a real gem. Give it a try and see what you think?

Hey I'm first! Sorry first time being first

The Gamer's Network - C00015A31

That's a funny screen name!

Swiped via CB10 with my T-Mobile USA (Only T-Mo rep still pushing  )  ‎BlackBerry Q10...oh wait a sec....its my new  BlackBerry Z30 (STA100-5), son! The holy grail of phones! Once you go BlackBerry, everything else is wack-berry! LOL! #longestsignatureever

No game download link, no video, no screenshot. I don't even know what the game is about.

Symbian is still and always my favourite Os. Nokia 808

...or even just reading the article should give you an idea of what the game 'is about.'

That would require effort. Not something the next generation seems to grasp.

Hardly. How is it sexist? The title was even a question. Chances are, more guys would be into this. Not sexist, just fact. It's not derogatory or meant to be in any way. That's like saying when they post about games for kids I should be offened because I'm not a child and might like it. Why does everyone get so offended by everything these days?

"One for the boys" is an expression often used during military times, as a tribute to soldiers (either men or women).
This is called culture.

It's the same as saying "hi guys" to a bunch of friends, and the girls in the group do not get offended saying that only the boys are greeted.

Lmao I clicked on the link at bottom for instructions and got a screen that said browser crashed on my Z30. Would I like to restore pages?

Download 1mobile market app, you can get the game from that app world, just Google '1mobile app', when you have it installed, just search for that game, it's there.

I won't use 1mobile or any of the other non-play android stores; they're just chock-full of malware. (Yes, I know that this is a luxury that non-English-speakers don't have.)

+1000000.... squared

Stick to Snap and Amazon, and possibly the curated BB10 store (maintained by CB members) in Aptoide (though stay away from the open Aptoide market).

Apparently you've gotta follow the BBM Channel Top Apps For BlackBerry To get the skinny on any actual BlackBerry apps.

According to CrackBerry Kevin's analysis of CB site traffic, the vast majority of CB site viewers are very interested in working Android apps and games.

Great little game thanks for making me aware of it crackberry, i got it from Aptoide so i haven't had to sideload anything. No save a bit frustrating but still a great game to kill time on my phone. Can't quite get my head round people who are whingeing about it being android. I think it's great that BlackBerry's can now run android as it opens up so much,i know it would be even better if it was built for BlackBerry but it's simple economics on the devs part and let's face it now those people who are happy to run android apps can and for those who don't simple! Don't download them. CHOICE is king so stop whingeing!

Tapping and flicking on my Zed 10

Crappy. A game that doesn't save yourself progress. Wasted time play seven missions only to found out all played missions gone when open again

Symbian is still and always my favourite Os. Nokia 808

The game itself is nice, but not being able to continue where you left is a BIG fail! You spend all that time beating missions just to have to start over if you close the game...That sucks balls!!!

My god is it wrong to say who cares? Give us news on the new BlackBerry Windermere! Or at least some real news...

What the hell is wrong with some of you????

First off who cares what the article title is! Stop making something out of nothing!!! The PC attitude is not welcome in my opinion and is not necessary. Can't people overlook innocent comments or titles such as this anymore?

Secondly if you don't like android apps then ignore the article and move on. No sense bashing crackberry for highlighting something that many people are interested in. If you're not then that's your choice. Don't try and force your choice on others!!!

Thirdly not all articles are news articles and should not be criticized because they are a public interest piece. Do you get mad at the weather forecast because it's not reporting what's going on in the middle east or some other current event? Further to this one can't manufacturer news if there has been no new development so don't demand news about new products etc as it makes you look like a real prick!!
