Are you a musician? Specifically a guitarist? Then I have an app for you. Developed by an attendee to BlackBerry Jam Camp in Madrid, GuitarTools is an app aimed guitarists but it can be a great tool for musicians altogether. It has a comprehensive chord library, metronome and guitar tuner. All handy and ready to be used from your pocket. Sound interesting? Let's take a closer look.

By default, when you load the app, you get the guitar tuner. To start tuning, just tap the string note and it will play the tone. All you have to do is tune your string to that sound. The sound will continue to play until you stop it by tapping the string note again. What is good about the guitar tuner is that there are other tuning mode provided too, such as Drop D, Drop C, even tuning a whole step down.

My favorite part of GuitarTools is the chord library. Forget chord chart books for your gig bag. You just need this app. The chord library doesn't just contain your basic chords, it has your minor chords, diminished chords minor sevenths and all the rest. What's more within each chord type your are also provided the many different chord positions too. But it doesn't end there. You can also tap the individual chord charts to play the sound of the chord. A pretty slick feature if you ask me.

Last but not least you have the metronome. Use the slider to select the speed you want, it ranges from 20-240 beats per minute, then toggle the metronome to on. The metronome keeps playing until you toggle it off. The app can also be minimised and the metronome will continue to function. You also have the ability to change the time signature too.

Overall, GuitarTools packs many useful features for guitarists and musicians alike. Priced at $0.99, it's a steal. Definitely one I recommend. GuitarTools is available from BlackBerry World for the Z10, Q10 and Q5.
