If you're looking for some movies to watch this weekend, why not take a peek in BlackBerry World. There is currently a movie sale on just now. At least for those in the U.K. Select movies are currently on sale for 79p. There's quite a nice collection available from Avatar, Lincoln and Monsters University, to mention a few.

One thing to note is that when you take a look at the list, as seen in the photo above, it says £3.99, however, that is the rental price. If you tap into the movie, you should see the buy listing as 79p.

As I've said, I can only verify that this sale is for those in the U.K. Movies are only available in certain regions. If you get movies in your region, take a look in BlackBerry World and see if you have a video sale happening. Availability in regions also varies. So, you may have different movies than those on my list.

If you're in the U.K., visit BlackBerry World today to grab some movie bargains. Is there a video sale in your region too? Let us know in the comments.

Can't find any on sale in Canada. Checked each in the screenshot and none of those are any cheaper here.

HotFix

Not in the US either.

As opposed to everything usually being for Canada or US audience. Come on RIM, BB, offer it worldwide!

Except Wales!

I think this is an area BlackBerry World could do better. Bargain pricing on movies and music to promote the use of using your BlackBerry to use the movie feature and HDMI capabilities.

Nothing.

Got some great deals in Nov though.

Anyone having 'network issues' with blackberry world? I'm attempting to download some music from APP World however every time it fails.

Posted via CB10

swtnotZ10

Yes! I thought I was the only one who has that issue. Although it's only for one album, it's been that way for the album for 2 months now.

I have that issue with downloading movies. It will slow and then stop and then wait for a few minutes before it says failed: network error. It's really kind of frustrating and kinda pushes me from wanting to buy movies from BlackBerry world.

Observation Junkie

20 minutes ago, download a movie, went pretty smoothly. Could it be the network you're on?

Just a query, but why are movies not available to buy in the UK for the PlayBook. The US has movies that you can buy for the PlayBook so just curious as to why we can't also have access to them in the UK too?

I can't get any for my PlayBook in Canada either.

Oh, forgot to mention I bagged 6 of these movies on Friday when they first started to appear at this sale price. Even if the movies in the end are rubbish (aka The Lone Ranger) then for 79p you haven't lost anything really.

The Internship was a hilarious movie! The Exchange-O-Gram app scene has to be one of Vince V's funniest moments.

Totally agree, perhaps it was the fact the movie seemed to be geared to advertise Google, which imho made the movie a piece of c**p. Also Vince and Owen have done much better in other movies. No wonder it was a bomb.

Bargain! I've downloaded 3 of them! Quick question.....once downloaded to my Z10. can they be transferred to laptop and burnt to DVD/memory stick etc?

Thanks guys!!

Observation Junkie

I'm sure you are able to back them up on your blackberry link, therefore a copy saved on your laptop.

Catapulted from my Z10.

Revord

Unfortunately no. I tried, and asked BlackBerry about it. You get a 5 device limit, but that's 5 BlackBerry phones, so if you upgrade, you can take the movies with you through 5 upgrades. But you can't transfer them to a laptop, pc or pb

Posted via CB10

Observation Junkie

Not even by backup on blackberry link?

Catapulted from my Z10.

LP_Rigg

You can back them up on PC, but you can not view them due to the drm encryption. Can't even view them on a Playbook which is hugely disappointing. That was my plan for the vids I purchased in December. As such, haven't watched any on my phone.

Posted via CB10

Observation Junkie

I thought you are able to watch any of the movies on either PC or laptop via an hdmi cable?

Catapulted from my Z10.

scalemaster34

As long as they are being played on your BlackBerry and only displayed it will work. You can't move the files without finding a way to remove the DRM protection

Posted via CB10

sklotz2000

That's NOT true in my case. I purchased movies on one of my Z10's and am unable to download any of them on my other Z10 (using the same BlackBerry ID).

To me it's a waste of money if that's how it works.

swtnotZ10

Yes, but you will need to reformat them.

Posted via CB10

Observation Junkie

Re format to do what?

Catapulted from my Z10.

Observation Junkie

Even Iron Man 3 is for 0.79 pence, awesome

Catapulted from my Z10.

Observation Junkie

Interesting, majority of the sale price have now increased to of £3

Catapulted from my Z10.

DJ Reyes

They're still showing as 0.79 for me

Observation Junkie

Yes, they were all showing. 79p for me to, then slowly all but 4 movies are now over £ 3 each. Just checked a few seconds ago.

I assumed that only a fixed amount of downloads were at. 79p and once so many download they would revert back up. But you still seem to be showing. 79 on all, interesting!!!

Catapulted from my Z10.

Observation Junkie

Yup, just checked, all but 4 movies are now at £3.99 where earlier were all at. 79p

Catapulted from my Z10.

Observation Junkie

Just realised, if you enter the sale from the link which says 79p movie sale, The Internship is now £3.99, however if you go via Top Films, the same movie is for. 79p. So in a way we're both half right.

Catapulted from my Z10.

DJ Reyes

That's right. When you're looking at the list, it seems to show the rental price but tapping through to each movie will show you the buy price. However, for me The Internship is still showing as 79p. Strange.

Observation Junkie

I guess someone in blackberry world forgot to configure the price details

Catapulted from my Z10.

Observation Junkie

Are you seeing Iron Man 3 for. 79p in Top Films Section?

Catapulted from my Z10.

DJ Reyes

Yes, that is showing as 79p for me

Observation Junkie

Well, I've just downloaded it, only took 1 hour and 30 minutes or so.

Can't wait to plug into the 50 inch TV during the week.

:)

Catapulted from my Z10.

sklotz2000

I'm leery of these sales. I have 2 BlackBerry Z10's that I trade off using every other month or so. Both are setup with the same BBID and I switch the SIM and MicroSD between them.

I purchased several movies back when they were on sale in December. Even having the same BBID, I can't watch or even download the movie to my alternate phone.

That's NOT playing very nice BlackBerry! Shame on you.

Techno-Emigre

Wow I am surprised at not being able to switch between BB10 devices. I am in the U.S. and understand the media store for the PlayBook is run by another company. I was glad to grab some in November.

I don't think that this is BlackBerry's doing. It is BlackBerry trying to offering as much cool stuff as possible within the confines of licensing rules and agreements.

Posted via CB10 with "Z" best

swtnotZ10

Don't switch the microSD card. I, too, have two BlackBerry phones (Z10 & Z30) and with the same BlackBerry ID. Any movies I purchased with one, I can download on the other and watch it fine. I don't switch the microSD at all.

Anyone know what quality the movie files are? Better than dvd?

BoldTeddy

The quality is similar to DVD. Maybe a bit more 'digital' looking. The Lone Ranger was around 2GB in size. There were a couple of glitches in the file. Overall worth 79p though.

Posted via CB10

TXBBguy

I'm not very interested in watching movies on a 4" screen.

I can't find any movies at all in the BlackBerry World. There are only three categories: apps, games and music.

Posted via CB10

It means movies are not available for download in your region...yet

MiFrich

I wonder when will be "media shop" available in Czech Republic.

Posted via CB10

raxamillion

So.e movie are weighing in at £12.99, coupled with the possible data charges and the lack of physical media, I still don't understand why the cost is so high. Surely half the price and double the downloads would be e better for them.

Posted via CB10 on my sexy white Z30 rocking 10.2.1.1925

Agree, the prices charged for many download movies are the same price as buying the physical copy.

I've just checked now and still showing 79p. Are people getting mixed up with rental price?

Posted via CB10

Observation Junkie

Yeah, a little, at first it shows £3.99 but doesn't say if it's sale or rental, it's only when you tap into the link again it's only then you can see the rental and purchase price, .79p. Epic is showing buy price at £10.99 and the rental at £3.99 .

Pricing advertising seems a little screwed

I have a blackberry playbook and a bold 9900 on os7 in the UK, so absolutely no chance of getting a deal like this. Has anyone ever got movies in the UK????????

SonySandy

So I've purchased a movie, I can download it onto 5 BlackBerry devices, I bought these on my phone account to transfer to my son's PB. I should be able to do this right, I mean legally I've bought the film, it's mine to do with as I will, so long as the device can go online to check the license every now and then there should be no problem.

If not then it's fraud by rovi, as I don't actually own the film, it's nothing more than a long term rentals on 1 device, and that's not how it's advertised.

Posted via CB10

neilwick

It is five different BlackBerry devices, but by that they mean smartphones because you have to re-download it from BlackBerry World when you get a new phone. The PlayBook doesn't use the BlackBerry World app for movies. It uses a separate movie app that seems to work on a different database.

Mo Cat

Disappointed it's area limited.

RussyRoo

Nice sale. Finally bought a couple of films.

SonySandy

Not worth it if you actually value ownership. Consider it a rental and then delete as it will only work on 1 device. I tried putting a film downloaded in my z10 on my playbook and it fails.

Can't find any of those titles or any titles on sale in the US.  :(

I can not download a single movie, I would , many would I guess because of HDMI and miracast support, but blackberry has no idea of making business , no idea of good marketing that is why it is in free fall and probably landing pretty hard.
