What's a 9530 Installer File Doing up in a 9500 section?! Who knows..but we'll take it!
* Update - Be sure to follow the forums links for feedback from the err guineau pigs addicts. Only install if you're comfortable in doing so. There's already lots of alternative download sites popping up in the forums as well (which are quicker and in case this link disappears) *
Hhmmm... this one is interesting. Bank error in the favor of BlackBerry Storm 9530 owners. It seems carrier Iusacell accidentally uploaded Storm 9530 firmware into the Storm 9500 section of their website. So no, this isn't Verizon / Telus / Bell certified, but it is available for download from BlackBerry.com (better than grabbing it from Megaupload right?). You can click the image above to jump over to BlackBerry.com to download it, and check this forum thread for more details (there's already successful installs onto 9530s).
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Even though this is downloadable from BlackBerry.com, we'll put the same disclaimer up as for an unofficial release... If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). Follow the links below for more information and instructions. *

a happy new blog entry for stormers
I appreciate things like this hitting the blog as well as the forums. Stuff like this and all the cool contests I never win are why I make the front page my CB entry point instead of jumping directly into the forums

pixleateit Jul 9, 2009 at 10:33 pm
ok so i deleted the vendor.xml file and a back up version that was hanging out there too but it still won't recognize the update on the desktop manager. help?
jsanta11 Jul 9, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Hotsauce8815..
Start over..uninstall the software and make sure you only have desktop manager ( in case you do have it installed).. re-install the software..go into My computer-hard drive -Programs-Common files-RIM ( Research in motion)-apploader ( scroll to the bottom and delete vendor XML) if you have vista its gonna make you confirm..after that connect your storm and click on Loader.. Its self explanatory after that...
Main thing make sure you have the Software installed..to go control panel then programs and click on programs and features..

Go to the forum where this story first broke. MarkDental almost pee'd on himself.
Soco_Jon Jul 9, 2009 at 10:57 pm
so i got it up and running now and i can defintely say its the best since .132
you really notice the transitions and how the accelerometer isnt so sensitive..thats about the only thing i can point out. overall i think its great...
i usually never had to delete the vendor xml file but this time i had to. after that, the desktop recognized it right away..i also downloaded it from megaupload rather than the blackberry website...i dont know if thats a difference but it works now.
MajikUF Jul 9, 2009 at 11:20 pm
I can only imagine how good 4.7.0.220 will be. This version is fantastic!
mikecrogan Jul 9, 2009 at 11:39 pm
when I proceed to the link, select my product, I notice the
version is 4.7.0.172 BUT the platform is lower than the current platform for version .148
what is the significance?
BB newbie

SAVJR Jul 10, 2009 at 2:04 am
Just did a battery pull...the only problem I can find is that my BB Button does not work. I cant get to my applications...it may be a theme problem...anyone know of a fix (aside from the obvious?)
jfsalewicz Jul 10, 2009 at 9:08 am

GargoyleDC Jul 10, 2009 at 9:42 am
I really like it. Especially the new zoom in and out transition of opening applications. Nice touch.
Alex32 Jul 10, 2009 at 10:07 am
I need at little help. I downloaded it and deleted the vendor file.. On the Available Updates on my DM i see the .151 but when i click next nothing comes up.... Ive never had this problem..
blakeberry Jul 10, 2009 at 12:28 pm
I had the same problem. I read somewhere to install via the apploader in the same location that you delete the vendor file (C:/program files/common files/rim/apploader. I did this instead of installing through the desktop software. It worked. Run a backup before doing this. After installation I just restored my latest backup and everything came out fine.
I don't recall having to do this the other times I downloaded and installed. As with any of these updates, they seem to work differently depending on the phone and various other factors. What works on one doesn't seem to work on others.
ugotme Jul 10, 2009 at 11:17 am
blueberry here. well I have updated to this release and I do see some improvements. I used the mega upload provided and for the first time I deleted the vendor.exe file. ad usual my calender did not transfer over but everything else did. seems little faster but he main thing I am watching is to see how the memory holds up. I wil post more as I go on. you may find this update to act different on your storm but this is what I have found on mine. I am still using a first round release storm. Crackberry.com Rocks.
ELovePhilly Jul 10, 2009 at 11:19 am
How do you delete the vendor.exe file?????
Alex32 Jul 10, 2009 at 11:26 am
C:/program files/common files/rim/apploader/vendor xml
Dankees Jul 10, 2009 at 12:13 pm
.151 Appears, But: "No Software Update Required For Your Device"???
chuklm3#cb Jul 10, 2009 at 12:24 pm
whats the word? is it good or bad
fryechad Jul 10, 2009 at 12:38 pm
I seriously have to say this is awesome. i cant wait for it to maybe become offical.
It was a little hard to download due to the language dif. but thanks to google trans. i was able to
Also the actual install was tricky you have to delete the vender.xml file and i had to use app loader outside of desktop manager under C: / program files/ common files/ research in motion/ apploader the install didn't lose my contacts either i was stoked !
- 1 batt pull for good measures and it has been great
- smooth transtions
-Mem leak hasn't showed up yet at all 44mb and holding strong
-apps run smooth
-lock transition works great on my device (I Do not run themes)
-THE NEW SCREEN TRANSITIONS ARE COOL
-over all i def suggest the download
Cons
Have not found any yet! and i don't really expect to
ugotme Jul 10, 2009 at 3:28 pm
I have been trying to use different apps throughout the day today to see what happens and all is running fine. my memory has been holding great at 37 (for me that is good. others may want more). transitions are neat too. over all so far so good.
j916 Jul 10, 2009 at 3:56 pm
I like the transitions the camera is faster. in all not to bad.
Jai Manny Jul 10, 2009 at 4:29 pm

I've been running it for almost 2 days now and I love it!
elgrant Jul 14, 2009 at 10:47 am
Is this version going to have better IMAP Folder and Sync support...because right now, it sucks on a device meant for email. I know it's main support as BES. But they are moving more consumer, and need to hurry up the process.
Such a basic feature on other phones is lacking in Blackberry world, on any phone. Is this better in .151?
Will it ever get better?
