Everyone is itching to get their hands on RIM's latest venture the BlackBerry PlayBook. No date has been set firmly for its release, with the expected time frame being early 2011. The closest we can come at this time to having a PlayBook is installing a PlayBook replica theme on our current BlackBerry smartphones. There have been several of these released, each one doing their best to simulate what the look and feel of the PlayBook may bring to us.

The latest of these themes is called GoPlay, brought to you by none other than Hedone Design. Known for their impeccable attention to detail, Hedone Design has done a fantastic job bringing the PlayBook UI to your BlackBerry. Your home screen gives you fast access to a total of 15 icons: five fixed icons in the top section of your screen (Messages, BBM, Browser, Pictures, Music, and Videos), five user selected icons under the Frequent tab and five under the Favorite tab. The theme runs smoothly with no lag and all graphics are crystal clear and sharp looking.

If you are one of the many many people waiting anxiously for the BlackBerry PlayBook to be release, or if you just really like the look of BB6 and want a theme to reflect that (whether you currently run BB6 on your device or not) you will definitely want to pick this theme up. It is currently on sale until the end of the year for just $3.99 and is compatible with BlackBerry 85xx, 89xx, 9000, 91xx, 95xx, 9700, and 9800. All devices must be running OS 5.0, with the exception of the Torch 9800.

Can I get a free copy to play with?

As has been said a bazillion times before: Theme Builder is not updated to support any devices running BlackBerry 6 besides the Torch 9800. Until RIM puts that update out, there can not be any themes for the 9780.

It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Sounds nice, I'll give it a shot!

Well Well Well, I just bought this theme and Its really cool. Transitions, colors feature everything is cool. As it has no contest or free trial so let me give some points here why i love it and why you can think about buying it.

1- It looks pro i mean if you are a business pro, like me, you'll feel good using your BB infront of your clients or senior colleagues.
2- On home screen you get 5 icon which you can set as in every theme but it also has a frequent set of icons which comes after these five icons.
3- You get Big icons of browser,BBM,Picture,Video,Music player like they are open app on your home screen. I think thats a cool thought.
4-Icons are OS6 type so if you have a 5 running device, YOU MUST buy it.
5- animations, transtions are very good.
6-No lag, no battery problem only Awesomeness.
7- Your cool phone also deserves a new year gift. GO AND GET IT FOR YOUR Phone MAN and Girls too ;)

Thanks again for this theme makers, i just love it.

I have a 9800 and a 9000.

Are the icons from the browser, BBM, pictures ... the real applications on my phone?
I mean for example : will it show my bookmarks, the number of my contacts, my pictures ? or are the icons chosen by the theme ?

Is there any lag on the 9000 ?

for the torch, what does it show on landscape mode ?

BlackB_G

Nope... just pics of icons. Not your real apps.

Also coming from the OS6like also from Hedone Design... i prefer the OS6Like theme cos the functionality beats this one hands down. Things like easy access to Manage Connections, Profiles are gone and you have to go via the main menu or some other shortcut. It's kinda cool but i just hope some updates come later that improve it like they improved the OS6Like theme.

Not bad.. but could be better.

Looks nice....in Portrait mode. Landscape mode leaves a big white space on the right side of the screen . Hopefully an update (soon) will fix this.
