Fancy the Google Mobile App for BlackBerry? If so, be sure to download the latest version available for your device. The last version was set at 3.7.15 and now Google has put out version 3.8.22. Sadly, Google never includes a changelog with their applications so we're not exactly sure what is new about this release but, it's new so go get it and be sure to let us know if you find new about it in the comments.

Gee, for a few months now, whenever I open my Google Mobile App, it tells me a newer version is available and asks me if I want to download it. But everytime I click on the upgrade button, nothing happens. Go figure!

Not sure what the deal is, but if your going strictly by release #- latest version is 4.4.0. I tried to download this version and got the "you are currently using a newer version" type message

Integrated searching of gmail, contacts and docs is what the splash screen tells me after installation.

This is the google mobile app, not the google maps app...you might need a phone with automatic updates.

And your so called automatic updates require you to approve them thats if you so happen to go into the market and go to the section for installed apps...

The download text link they send to your phone takes you to google search page big deal! I had to search for the download from google search page.

It also looks like a minor update to Google Voice app has been posted as well. No changelog, but the version number has changed.

Version 3.8 seems to extend the search engine into your GMail & Google Docs, as well as being able to search messages on the phone.

When you tie this with the voice-recognition capability that's already in the app, it's quite powerful. You can search all your emails by voice!

FYI Gmail on a storm 9550 only works in compatibility mode only.

With search/voice search, I can easily search my phone for contacts and emails etc.

But to me it looks like a major new feature is being able to pic you app icons above the search bar in the app to whichever google products you want and rearrange them however you choose to.

The only thing I can see different is in the top right hand corner it shows your email address and the option to flick between more than one Gmail account. Whoopydoo.

I recently loaded this version on my 9700 and although it allows me to search, it will not allow me to select any of the results. I have used previous versions and am very familiar with the app, so I'm not sure what is going on.
