Get ready for it... June is #MobileFit Month!

By Sam Sabri on 27 May 2014 10:05 am EDT

We're looking forward to making June the month we dedicate to the intersection of technology and fitness. We're going to explore and highlight fitness, diet and health apps for your platform. We're going to explore accessories that help you get the most of your workout. We'll look at connected devices that will help you achieve your fitness goals. June is where we all get #MobileFit.

You'll find great content focused on fitness all month across iMore, Android Central, CrackBerry and Windows Phone Central. This year, #MobileFit will be hosted by Connectedly – our newest community dedicated to the next era of connected devices. Things like smartwatches and wearables are leading the current charge to the next generation of health and fitness, which is why we want to use Connectedly, and their forums, as our basecamp for fitness. You'll still find platform specific content on the site of your choice, but Connectedly is where we'll be hosting content that is more platform agnostic – like which pair of headphones will help you kick ass during your weekend. There you'll also find our #MobileFit Month forum where you can discuss anything and everything related to Mobile Fit during the month of June.

Mobile Fit doesn't officially start until June, but we figured we'd get the word out so you can get ready. We wanted to share a few of our plans for the month with you and solicit some community feedback to make Mobile Fit all about you.

Fitbit Challenge

This month we're going to be doing a fun challenge for those who have a Fitbit activity tracker. We'll be setting up an activity group where we all compete with one another to be super active. Those that get active in the group will walk (or run) away with some cool new gear. This challenge starts on June 1st, which is this coming Sunday. This gives you time to pick up the Fitbit of your choice before the challenge starts. Already have a Fitbit? Then join the group!

Don't worry, this isn't the only way to win anything during Mobile Fit. We've got a ton of smaller prizes and contests we will be doing throughout the month.

So you don't miss anything, be sure to visit and bookmark, which will serve as the main event page for #mobilefit month and will pull in all related content from across participating sites.

Get social

Could you tell that #MobileFit was going to be our hashtag for the month? We want to see how you use technology to stay fit. Use the hashtag throughout the month to show us and others how you use tech to stay fit and healthy.

We can't wait to get fit with you.

Get ready for it... June is #MobileFit Month!

I'm REALLY looking forward to this. The past two years we held this event in February, which was a little less than ideal. June I'm all about - get ready for beach season!!

As for ideas....

1) Totally need to do a contest to see who can make the best 80's training montage video using their phone

2) Random Acts of Fitness... here we come! #mobilefit

And they must be dressed in appropriate 80's attire.

I don't care if other people want a bb10 device I wanted one and that's all that matters.

Ok. I'll mention the yoga pants! No. Lol. Cheers. Can't wait!

Posted by me. Just now. With my Z10!

I've seen a lot of funny apps for fitness but man this one takes the cake. Talk about a lazy couch potato's wish come true for fitness...
The word fitness implies running, cycling, swimming, kayaking...etc and not just a $99 machine that measures your walk and sleep, come on you guys...

I am ready! And very excited for Fitness Month this year. I've got my Fitbit and looking forward to the Fitbit challenge. Also, looking forward to bringing Fitness related posts. Here we come #mobilefit

MobileFit would have been an amazing name for the wearable part of Mobile Nations.
I try to avoid using too much, it messes up my predictive typing. ;)

BlackBerry 10 signed.

Yeah, so that was a bit negative. So: have a great month I will be sure to check out the content!

BlackBerry 10 signed.

Let's go!

Swiped via CB10 with my T-Mobile USA (Only T-Mo rep still pushing  )  ‎BlackBerry Q10...oh wait a sec....its my new  BlackBerry Z30 (STA100-5), son! The holy grail of phones! Once you go BlackBerry, everything else is wack-berry! LOL! #longestsignatureever

A bit of topic, but when will BlackBerry 10 be able to link with the fit bit units?? Keen for the fit bit one but read BlackBerry 10 won't work with it for some reason.

Any news or clarification would be big help. Thanks

I have the UP24 had to update to 10.3 to connect wireless because it required Android runtime 4.3

Right on. Been using Fitbit since January, alongside myfitnesspal. Just really wish it would be a bb10 native apps.

Use my Fitbit daily - can't wait to see how much more I can do for the month of June. Love the competition!!
Would be great if BlackBerry 10 would interface with Fitbit with the new update coming soon.

From my totally Awesome Z30

Play here is a product and app for you. Its the iriver on mobile Bluetooth headset. It has the valencell sensor technology to monitor location,hr, pace vo2max all without a chest strap plus a personal voice coach for pacing. It does work as an android download on bb10 from thevgoogle play store through a snap download. This is the future of fitness. Wireless sensor tech all built into the headset. Finally a smart product sure the software could be better but at least its available.

Is there a non-removable wristband that doesn't stop nagging at a pre-set time until you get off the couch, get moving and only stops when you've done the kms according to your training schedule?

That would be some practical anti-couch potato innovation.

"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "
