Get NeverMaze on your BlackBerry 10 device for free with this promo code

By James Richardson on 15 Jul 2014 01:10 am EDT

We first took a look at NeverMaze for BlackBerry 10, on video, about a year ago and it's the perfect time killer for when you have a few minutes spare. The developers have been in touch this week to offer up the game for free for a limited time only.

The concept is very straight forward - the app will auto generate a maze and you need to manoeuvre the orange icon to the purple one - simple.

To download NeverMaze for free just follow these simple instructions:

  • Find NeverMaze in BlackBerry World

  • Pull down from the top bezel and select 'Redeem'

  • Enter the promotion code C00423973 and you are good to go.

I'm not totally sure how long this offer will run for so you had better get in quick. It can get a little addictive so here at CrackBerry we take no blame for your lack of concentration on your normal daily tasks!

Thanks developers - we love free stuff.

It's great that it's free but upon loading you quickly realize it's an android port. Swipe down from the top bezel to change the settings, you get an settings pop up. It's sad to think that as of 10.3 that this will become norm with Amazon play store apps and people will come to know the bb10 interface as being like this. :(

Classifieds Canada and GeoYeo B4B Apps all the way!!!

It runs in the Android player but it's not a port. We wrote it specifically for BB10 and it was a BB10 exclusive for almost a year before we ported it to Android.

Don't assume that because it runs in the Android player it's a port. In this case the version for Android devices is the port and the BB10 version is the original.

Okay, port or no port the point I was attempting to make was that it wasn't native nor did it have a native feel which I really think is the way most non enterprise apps running on blackberry will soon feel. This is what I find a shame as personally the andriod player sucks in comparison to the loving feeling native apps give me.

Btw is there a more difficult level then difficult, I am not finding the most advanced level very challenging. Otherwise great idea and awesome app, well done..

The difficulty setting has only an indirect affect on how hard the mazes are. The mazes will only get harder (or easier) depending on the time it takes you to complete them (harder settings require less solve time to get harder mazes). Also, the maze corridors only go down to a minimum size, but this means on larger tablets (including PlayBook) you get larger mazes (more rows and columns). Hope this helps.

NeverMaze runs well on BB10 and we made effort to ensure it runs well on Q10 and even PlayBook. It is not a port, we actually chose to use the Android SDK as we knew it would be fine for our app, and did not release it on Android until well after BlackBerry.

We have since made a fully native Cascades app called Krungie Player, feel free to check it out if you enjoy audio books or podcasts. I also made Alpha Memory, a kids game that is free and open source, it's native and uses BlackBerry's own Gameplay SDK.

What can I say, I like learning SDKs. :-) It happens that I make native apps in my day job (you are using some right now) so it should not be an issue if I chose another satisfactory SDK for another project.

At any rate it's free for now so enjoy!

Working late huh, James?

Great game. Interface is fast, levels load at blazing speed and the game play is satisfying and rewarding.

Thanks James for the heads up. I've downloaded, played, and reviewed the game already. Great little game to help kill the time. Smooth flow makes it a joy to play.

Grrrrr just bought just over a day ago, oh well it's only 75p anyway so a little bit of support for the dev I guess.

Posted via CB10

I'd rather pay for a native BlackBerry application.

Free Android is just free Android. (nothing is free)

How are the permissions?

It uses no permissions. Try to install it and see for yourself. :-)

It also has no ads or in app purchases. This is a premium paid app which we decided to make free on BB10 for a bit to thank the community that got us started.

It's also not a port. We wrote this specifically for the BB10 Android player, and it was exclusive to BB10 for about a year before we ported it to actual Android devices.

Posted via CB10

Sorry no it's not a port, what Stefan said. :-)
No permissions or ads or in app purchases, just mazes mazes mazes.
It's normally a $1 app on BB10 and Android. In this case free is free because we wanted to say thanks and the day job pays the bills. :-)
We hope you enjoy it!

Thank you so much dev!!!! Great maze game better than most for any platform lol and I got it at a great price ;) I love these secret promos they keep doing! Getting some great apps for very little cost.

At last - first promotion I managed to get ever :))

I'm getting "your session has expired. Please login to continue ", and it gets stuck there. Any ideas?

Posted via CB10

I am not sure what that means. Maybe a temporary thing? The promotion is on for about 10 more days so you have time to try again.

When you put in the promo code, you get a message that the promo is ending Friday July 25, 5:30 AM IST.

Posted via CB10

Thanks for the code! I should be playing more games that actually challenge me to think :p

Posted via CB10

I don't see where to enter the promo code. It just took me to the screen to purchase the game via my Verizon account. ??

Posted via CB10

Just scroll down from the top when you see that $0.99 price in the green box and spot the redeem tab to enter your code.

That is a good question. I am not sure you can. But, the app is universal so if you could redeem it on BB10, it should also show up on PlayBook. If not, at least it's only $1, same for any Android friends. (Hey we can be friendly right?)

Thank you developer! Great game!

Do you think this will be the future development pattern for BB10 apps? (building for BB10 using the Android Runtime?)

Posted via CB10

That has always been an option. The Android player is really quite good, and improving over time, so as long as the app works well enough it shouldn't be an issue which SDK it uses under the hood. That said, we have made native apps as well. So the answer is: it depends. :-)

Hi everyone, dev here. The code is good for a week or two so share it with all your BB10 friends. Also bear in mind that the app is universal so you get it for PlayBook as well.

If you or your friends like the game but only have an Android device, it's available in Google Play for $1 (sorry no code):

Enjoy and have a great summer! (Or winter in the southern hemisphere...)

Love, Team Krungie

Downloaded it! ... It ends on Friday. Will give it a go when I'm on the train to work.

Wow, so many comments, glad to see everyone is enjoying it. The promotion runs for quite a while, so spread the word. It's also available in Google Play so tell all your Android friends how great it is. :-)

If you haven't yet noticed, the difficulty tries to automatically adjust to how fast you solve mazes. That means the game is really easy for toddlers, but can be super challenging as well. The difficulty setting merely controls how fast the mazes get trickier. Also if you have older relatives, this game can help keep them mentally nimble.

Good clean fun for everyone, thanks for playing!

One more thing, I'm currently working on a few more indie game projects in my spare time. All are basic inexpensive premium non-copy-cat no-ads-or-in-app-purchases efforts filled with heart and soul. One is native 2D, one uses the Unity game engine, and one is pure OpenGL. All will run on BlackBerry. The best way to stay on top of these developments is to follow @marc_lepage on Twitter, I only generally tweet about development stuff.

Thanks for the giveaway! I've never redeemed a code in time on those limited promotions so it is nice to finally see how it works. This giveaway ends Thursday, July 24th for those wondering.
