Here's a quick BlackBerry Priv tip for those who are also new to Android as a platform. There have been a few mentions in the CrackBerry forums of folks not getting or not knowing about updates to the stock BlackBerry apps on the Priv. While there is always a chance of Play Store bugs preventing updates hitting all of the people, all of the time, there is also something you can do to make it as easy on yourself as possible to stay up to date.
Make sure that auto-update is enabled. It should be by default, but in any case, here's what you can do and how.
- Firstly, open up the Google Play Store app on your Priv.
- Slide out the menu from the left hand edge of the screen.
- Tap on "Settings."
- Now tap on the first option in the list, labelled "Auto-update apps."
You'll now see the box shown in the image up top. There are three settings to choose from: Do not auto-update apps, auto-update apps at any time and auto-update apps over WiFi only. They're all pretty self explanatory and unless you have a high allowance of cellular data, the last of those is probably the one to go for.
You should get notifications from the Google Play Store anyway if you're not auto-updating, or if there are permissions changes, telling you there are app updates to install. But for the most part if you want to keep up with the latest from BlackBerry and any other developers let the phone do the work for you.
