GeeReader is among the favorite RSS clients for the BlackBerry PlayBook, and with the latest update it looks to stay that way. The current version resides at 1.0.11 and updates this time around include various bug fixes and tweaks. Since it's release, GeeReader has also added full potrait mode support, improved feed list scrolling, styling improvements and more. If you're looking to a great free app to cruise your RSS feeds on your PlayBook, then GeeReader is definitely a great option. You can pick it up free from BlackBerry App World.

GeeReader for the BlackBerry PlayBook updated to v1.0.11

If only they could they sh*t together for offline caching, it would be a 5-star for me... but without, 0. Still thoroughly unsatisfied with rss clients on the PB.

I really hate that Viigo is no longer around. one of the best features imo was the ability to not have to open a browser to read the article which made mobile viewing a breeze. The best example is with foxnews' feed. Most of the time it is just a headline and that is it, so i have to open another app just to decide if it is something i want to read.

why cant someone create a self contained rss reader that doesn't require a browser or doesn't embed the browser in the app. Simple text of the article would be a damn good start.

Agreed - very much miss Viigo. Also miss the granular control on connectivity (3g, wifi, etc) - made for much safer roaming (but that rant is for another post all together).

Part of reading the article without having to open the browser is feed based as well. ESPN does a terrible job, basically giving you a sentence. Whereas lifehacker you can read the whole article without opening the browser.
