Free version of N.O.V.A. 3 for BlackBerry 10 opens up to more countries

The big question is, how is it any different from the one they're selling for $6.99?

Hey Z10 gamers, a free version of N.O.V.A. 3, the premiere shooter for BlackBerry 10, just opened up to a wider geographic release, including Canada, the U.S., and the UK. Why didn't they just do that when it launched originally late February in Mexico, Australia, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand? Who knows! Also something of a mystery: how it is any different from the $6.99 version that's currently in BlackBerry World? I'm pretty sure the premium version had in-app purchases too, and I got through the first level of this free one and played a multiplayer match, so it's not a trial. Gameloft has another sale going on with the other platforms for Modern Combat 4, so maybe they just wanted to throw us a bone (though MC4 is supposed to be coming to BlackBerry 10 at some point too). N.O.V.A. 3 was one of the earlier games launched on BlackBerry 10, at a promotional price of $0.99 to boot.

For those unfamiliar, N.O.V.A. 3 is a sci-fi first-person shooter with full online multiplayer support and a campaign mode. Basically, if you're a fan of Halo, you'll like N.O.V.A. 3. It's earned a spot on my list of of top BlackBerry 10 games, so that's gotta count for something, right?

Anyway, go get it! Who knows how long it'll stay up? All you have to lose is 2 GB of storage space.

The "Free" version is 1.1.0.1 and the paid for version is 1.1.1, I wonder if there was a typo or it is an older version? Even though the newer version clocks in at 1.6 GB and the free one is 1.7GB.

In Ontario on Rogers network and my free version is 1.1.0.1, and 1.7GB, this is a hugeeee download though

This is probably to differentiate the paid vs free so that when the promotion ends they can simply pull this off and those who downloaded it and decided to uninstall to save space won't be able to afterwards. I'm not a big fan but I'll download it just in case it converts me to this game genre.

What's the difference between the the paid application and the free one, besides the price lol. Just asking.

This will just add to hubby's phone envy. My sons are going to want my z10 even more now! Huge file so will probably be tomorrow by the time I can play.

Will try out this game but that's a hefty file size. Times like these where I wish the Z10 was at least 32 GB.

1gb to download? Woah use wifi ladies and gentlemen cuz this could kill you data allowance in one shot

Posted via CB10

BBW will not let you download an app over 50MB on your data plan. You have to use wifi for anything over that.

Anyone else experiencing super slow download? Left it on last night and then it timed out and now have to re download again which is super slow. I know it's not my network because download seems to be working well with the rest of the stuff.

Wow. Thanks BlackBerry for making this free. This game is pretty darn cool. I would have bought it at $0.99 or $1.99 anyways though. But, now I have something I can show off to potential iphone and android converts.

Took forever to download, took forever to install, then took forever to load each level during gameplay.

Cool to have this for bb10 and to showcase I suppose, but I prefer smaller, simpler more addictive games on mobile.

Cheers

D/L'd this morning and gave it a couple of hours try out. It's an awesome game for an awesome BlackBerry Z10.
Make sure your device is fully charged and network is strong & stable as it took me 3 tries to completely finish the D/L.

Nice game. Works well on dev alpha A! Nice to see Game loft supporting BB10. They offered NOVA 2 for free on the PlayBook at launch.

Coming from Android, I would like to know that once I download / install and delete it after a while and would like to install again in the future, will I need to pay for app if it's not free anymore?

There's no guarantee. I've had apps on BB OS6 before that I've uninstalled, went back to reinstall at a later date, and found it changed to a paid app (Endomondo) . An email to the developers was not returned.

I know when they did the "Complimentary" apps last fall, once the promotion was complete I was still able to download and install through My App World. Despite them not being searchable in the app world itself.

If you have this app installed, backup the Z10 if you want to keep it.

I had to restore my phone with a backup before I got the free game, when I went to the "Available" cloud re download area, it doesn't show up. And when I go to this original link, it says unavailable.

But not to bum about it, just can't do FPS on a touch screen that well.

BB10 on Rogers in Canada, can't search for the free version shows as 6.99$, when i click the link and send it from the web browser it opens up my app world to a version that says not available for my device? Any ideas?
