Free DUB Contact Card App Easily Sends Your Contact Info

Chris of DubMeNow just sent me an email to let me know that DUB Contact Card is the featured app in BlackBerry App World. A free download, DUB lets you easily swap information with other users with only a few clicks. This is a great tool for business users who need to swap contact info quickly and efficiently. DUB will even update your information automatically, so if you change your address or phone number your contacts will always have your current information. DUB features:

  • Swap contact info with a single click! When two people meet and click the Locate button, DUB finds and prompts both to exchange info. No more typing emails or mobile numbers to send your card.
  • Add your photo, social networks, a link to your blog, Twitter handle, instant messenger and more to your card so your contacts can connect with you wherever you are online.
  • Send a LinkedIn invite along with your contact info

DUB is available as a free download in BlackBerry App World. There is really no reason not to have it on your device. I love when apps like this come along that are both insanely useful and best of all free.

Dub is a great product and one of the only ones like it for the BlackBerry. I ran across it while looking for an alternative to beamMe on the iPhone.

A huge advantage and smart move was to make this product on multiple platforms.

Seems okay for social networking. Does not use owner information and only sends limited fields. I cannot use it.

I wish it allowed you to setup multiple contact cards that you could share. One for business and one for personal.

Is it just me or is this simply a slight improvement over built-in address book functionality? Simply locate your own entry in your address book (you don't need to open it), click the pgm button and select "Send as Attachment" from the menu.

The advantage in using the built-in feature is that it sends an industry standard vCard file (.VCF) which is easily importable into any desktop or phone address book software. Last I looked, the recipient of your information had to sign up for a DUB account in order to avoid having to cut and paste your information.

Maybe this built-in feature isn't available on other Blackberrys? I can only speak for the 9530 Storm.

Looks like there is a problem with recognizing your PIN number for blackberry messenger. Just puts some random number in its spot and you cannot edit it. Searching the site it says that v 2.6 should be out next week to fix this. I wouldnt mind seeing a seperate line for Blackberry Messenger like there is for AIM, MSN, etc
