From the Forums: Some more BlackBerry Bold 9900 eye candy

A little Friday fun eye candy comes to us from the forums courtesy of member greggebhardt. The title of the forum thread pretty much sums it all up: 9900 is WELL worth the wait. There isn't much to the Bold 9900 that we haven't seen thus far, but here we have a few more photos to keep us drooling. There are some cool Bold 9900 / 9000 side by side shots for a little comparison, so if you were wondering just how thin the Bold 9900 is now you can see first hand. According to the thread there is no sign of mobile hotspot in the OS just yet, but that may or may not change as the device nears release. Keep reading for some more images then hit the link below to join in on the fun.

you know everytime I see more pictures of this phone it just irks me even more that they are taking so long to get it to the carriers. I want this phone NAOW!
BSFA2008 Jul 9, 2011 at 12:11 am
I KNOW!! I can't freaking WAIT!! uuuuuuh muh gawd!!
tcseacliff Jul 9, 2011 at 11:33 am
the pictures are confusing. in the opening article the 9900 looks larger. when you get to the main article and second pic, the 9000 looks larger. looks small like the 9700. hope not, was hoping for same as BOLD 9000 or larger? :-(

RIM, por favor avansa y anuncia el dia que va a salir este telefono. That's all I have to say. LoL
RoseBud68 Jul 8, 2011 at 12:08 pm
Yea, What he said...LOL
Jimcmf Jul 8, 2011 at 9:11 pm
lol .....
In case you were wondering, he is asking RIM (nicely) to announce when this will be coming out.
Awwwww .... the Mexican wants a BB.
It's coming ...... SOON !
Abrante Jul 8, 2011 at 9:58 pm
Mexican? SMH
07thking Jul 8, 2011 at 10:01 am
Everytime I see this I want it more! This is like teasing a hungry man with a five course dinner!!!!
the brother Jul 8, 2011 at 10:03 am

Ronzdaname Jul 8, 2011 at 10:08 am
I have a Torch now and currently waiting on the Torch 2, but I have to say, I am eyeing this phone. Can't wait to test drive one.
JeffreyEducator Jul 8, 2011 at 10:20 am
I am wondering when this phone will be coming to Verizon. They seem to be slow to bring on new Blackberry devices these days.
mpscan Jul 8, 2011 at 10:38 am
Seriously.... HOW IS AN ORGANIZATION GOING TO RELEASE A "FLAGSHIP" PHONE IN Q3 2011 WITHOUT MOBILE HOTSPOT?????
Am I being punk'd? Seriously??
The fact that it isn't in the OS now is absolutely horrible. We can all think "it will be added" but you and I both know if it's not there now, it's not coming. I'm done if that's the case.
_StephenBB81 Jul 8, 2011 at 10:47 am
RIM Bends to Carrier demands.
IF the Carriers don't want Mobile hotspot RIM will remove it, what we have to hope for is 1 carrier releases the OS with Mobile hotspot enabled and then we can all run that OS.
boldkeyboardholic Jul 8, 2011 at 3:42 pm
Really, it won't have the hotspot function?
Ok, thank you very much.
Now I lost my interest in it. I was almost convinced to buy the 9900.
Even without the chance to get an update to the qnx OS in 2012 or whenever.
Even if I have to pay additionally 5 Euro (compared to any other phone) per month and for this device (for bb option/Server) have to use carrier with an "contract" (prepaid is much cheaper and there are a lot more carrier where I am living).
But if RIM even does not enable such a function because RIM bends over their arses to the Carriers.
Emotionally I will be parted soon, physically propably when my beloved Bold9000 is broken.
Perhaps I can arrange with a Motorolla QWRTZ-something or other Android device. (with a tear, or two)
wolfstar Jul 8, 2011 at 5:21 pm
Dont know how to break it to you, but.......Verizon in particular, and most likely ATT, are not going to allow Hotspot on the 9930/9900 on their networks. NO SURPRISE here. What were you thinking? That big Red turned into Santa Claus? If you want to tether no matter how you do it they want you to buy that option. Period. There is no movement on that according to sources I have at VZ. Dont believe it: then check your own people at VZ. They have no intention of allowing you to run a laptop off this thing for free. They will stick to there present model which is you can buy that feature if you want it, just like now. End of story. Sorry to bust your bubble.
Jimcmf Jul 8, 2011 at 9:13 pm
Updates will take care of that ..... updates.
It's like a Christmas present every week !
Xeqtr Jul 8, 2011 at 10:39 am
i swear to god this better had mobile hotspot upon release...
Xeqtr Jul 8, 2011 at 10:41 am
ditto mpscan, my pb useless on the go otherwise :/
_StephenBB81 Jul 8, 2011 at 10:46 am
How is your PB useless? you'd still have Bridge & Tether.
boldkeyboardholic Jul 8, 2011 at 3:48 pm
But for Tether you need a software installed on the laptop etc. As a hotspot you just need the rights to conncet to wireless lan, isn't it?
mpscan Jul 8, 2011 at 10:53 am
I have a PB too... let's not even go down the Bridge path. Tether is an option, but certain things STILL don't work with Tether (e.g., RIM's own App World!!!!!!).
blacksamurai30 Jul 8, 2011 at 11:12 am
As much as this phone appeals to me, I don't like pictures like this that remind me that I'm being sold the same phone twice.
edwingmel Jul 8, 2011 at 11:18 am
Wow. never thought of it that way. But you're right.
billyhoyle13 Jul 8, 2011 at 11:20 am
Are you guys serious? Sure it looks similar, but this thing will be light years better/different than the 9000.
blacksamurai30 Jul 8, 2011 at 3:33 pm
Yup, completely serious. Sure the internals will be better, and it will be thinner (so sexy), but come on even you have to admit that it looks pretty much exactly alike. I feel like im getting Mario Party-ed here.
boldkeyboardholic Jul 8, 2011 at 3:49 pm
hmm, what should apple i-folks think then?
xD
blacksamurai30 Jul 9, 2011 at 2:02 am
I'm sure they felt pretty good when they saw the change from the 3GS to the 4, it was a major hardware and software update. I'm also sure that they were disappointed by the fact that Apple reused the form factor between the 3G and 3GS, hoping for something completely fresh. I'm in that boat.
But look, I'm not trying to start anything here, I love BB, I'm pretty excited for the future of BB, having had 3 of them in the last 2 years (take that as you will). I'm just saying that I'd like to see the next generation of BB fully separate themselves from the old ones, in software AND hardware. Sure RIM could create a BB like the 9900 that hearkens back to a major point in the BB revolution, a form-factor that is dear to us all. Or they could lead another revolution and create something the likes of which has never been seen before in a BB. And for my hard earned $200, I would definitely prefer the latter.

I guess, RIM is waitin' 4 release of iPhone 5. RIM wants to share it when Steve Jobs puts his new device on sale. But I want it right now!!!!Best AKoSH

YEE
barnto5 Jul 8, 2011 at 12:04 pm
I wish RIM would ALWAYS put external charging contacts on their phones (Like 9700). I like using a charging pod. It also saves the mini usb port.
andino Jul 8, 2011 at 12:37 pm
Every BB I've used to date has external charging contacts other than the Storm and Torch. Pretty sure all the other BBs have charging contacts. You can make them out on the 9900 two in a similar location to the 9700
ridesno159 Jul 8, 2011 at 4:37 pm
85XX, 93XX, and 91XX all do NOT have charging contacts.
barnto5 Jul 10, 2011 at 4:38 pm
I hope you are right, but every pic that I've seen (I looked again after your post)doesn't show them. I hope it's just me. If you have a definitive pic, please post a link.
RedDotNick Jul 8, 2011 at 12:12 pm

dadymon Jul 8, 2011 at 12:22 pm
That looks sweet! I wish they could show a plc with the 9000 and the 9800 stacked on top of one another!
STARSCR34M Jul 8, 2011 at 12:22 pm

I just got me a Wacom intuos4 graphics tablet, hopefully this phone comes out before my excitement for the Wacom wears out :o)
boldkeyboardholic Jul 8, 2011 at 3:53 pm
haha I have a not comparable wacom sapphire cte-430. And even that is better than any other graphic tablet from other companies ;)
DrLouie Jul 8, 2011 at 2:19 pm
Just release it already, and at&t don't sit on it and not release it like the 9780
CVCKDB8 Jul 8, 2011 at 3:52 pm
like another user said, it is gonna downing that it looks exactly the same as the 9000, just a little thinner, and a trackpad, sure the internals will have a spec boost, But OS still basically the same. your almost kinda ok if you just kept the 9000 a little longer to wait for RIM to release QNX and hopefully have better App support and Video chat ability. This Phone and the others about to be released shouldve been released back in January. especially since we know QNX is gonna be the competing OS going into the future as well as other things RIM is working on doing to Beef up there smartphone lineup.
nunofbento Jul 8, 2011 at 4:50 pm
I'm a newbie, but I'm with this guy, RIM needs to stop playing catch up

crigga84 Jul 9, 2011 at 3:59 pm
I'm sick of seeing images and videos of this phone. Just want the frigging thing.
eezyt24 Jul 11, 2011 at 1:50 pm
The 9900 is so sweet! Hopefully it won't have defects as the 9000. My 9000 got fried on the charger when I left it overnight. I spent $200 on my 9000 so spending the same amount on a 9900 is a miracle. Wonder if it is true, will this phone be going for $200???
