Filtermama - Revamped, improved and ready to create awesome photos!

By Bla1ze on 30 Dec 2013 03:38 pm EST

If Instagram isn't really your thing but you like the look of the filters it offers then you need Filtermama 2 in your life. Filtermama hit BlackBerry World a while ago but this release, Filtermama 2, improves upon the original app and has been completely re-written combining the flexibility of JavaScript and the power of Cascades to bring you a true "Hybrid" app experience.

What's new in 2.0?

  • You asked, we answered: Filtermama is now FREE! You can save and share photos right out of the box. No need to "unlock" this feature
  • Filter Packs & Presets! We will be releasing periodic Filter Packs, and Presets which will be available via in-app purchase.
  • Complete code do-over in Cascades.
  • New filtering engine which is faster, and absolutely amazing, and you will love it.

As you can see from the change log notes, aside from being re-written there has also been a lot of limitations removed so there's nothing in the way of you trying out the full capability of the app. Should you decide you want more filters than the nine included then those are made available as in-app purchases but the out of the box filters are great on their own. If you're looking to give Filtermama 2 a go, you can grab it via the link below for free.

Think I'll try it

Same here but how is it different from the built in BB10 camera editing filters.?

All filters are not created equal.

That's funny!

Bla1ze... please review for Pixlr Express on BlackBerry 10....

You want me to review what is essentially, a sideload? Maybe when 10.2.1 is official.

What's this?

Lmao...Well I purchased both filter packs and I hope I get the future packs for free. They are pretty cool to mess around with.

I do like the simplicity and style of the overall app design. Big props to that! More apps from this dev please!

I'll try it out. Potentially good app I guess ;)

How much do the in-app filter packs cost? It isn't listed in the app.

The packs are $0.99 each although I think they both should cost a total of a buck but what do I know I didn't develop them so I have no idea how much work went into making them. I do like supporting BlackBerry developers.

$0.99 per filter pack is pretty usual. That's what I used to pay for a lot of iPhone filter packs.

FilterMama? Try this file APK for Pixlr Express more alike VSCOCAM on BlackBerry 10... for Instagrammer!!!

Not worth the money, deleted it...

yeahhh... Try this Pixlr Express and It FREE!!!!

It's free...

So "out of the box" this app does nothing that the stock BB10 editing software doesn't already have, then it presently only supports four buyable "packs" of which two are inaccessible and "coming soon", the other two at .99 cents a piece only have six filters each and they're as basic as it gets, one with basic shading presets, the other a whole six slight variants of black and white. I'm a big advocate of not being cheap and demanding free stuff, I'm all for buying apps and supporting devs but this seriously doesn't seem worth it because this functionality is too simple and unneeded compared to what we already have.

If we did start something, QuickSilver will let us know. :)

I may have to agree with your comment Bitpusher. I am pretty happy with the BB10 built in photo editing features, I may or may not keep Filtermama on my phone. I am going to contact the dev and suggest the coming soon packs be free of charge to anybody that already has purchased the first two.

Not bad but.. feels kinda slow :/

So let me get this straight, when I go to capture or process in this app it opens up my native filters? There are 2 packs for SALE, what's the hoopla about the app being free and it does nothing special? I must be missing something.
