Shouldn't be any concern of the FCC.

Of course if the government requires verizon to get rid of the fee than Verizon will tac it on to all subscribers NOT just the online bill payers.

If you are actually worried about the $2 then see what it would legally take to patch a hole in a wall that a door knob made on a house made earlier than 1978. That is a rip. Have you stocked up on the 100+ watt bulbs. Hope you aren't prone to migraines.

I do my own house repair so the Spackle fix it job is not a concern. I use LED's so the 100+ watt bulbs are not a concern on mine either.

I do own a business and have a bad back so trucks, Vans and SUV's are a necessity for me. CAFE may cause issues but that is for another day.

But I know what you are saying and agree. Everything has to be legislated apparently.

Funny though I just saw a guy purchase T12 fluorescent bulbs yesterday. Why are they still for sale (fixtures and bulbs) when T8 and T5 are available and better.

This is a cash and grab! I have to pay to pay! LOL! That is just ridiculous! There is no reason for this charge no matter how you look at it!! This is the same type of idea behing the System Access Fee $6.95 in Canada that still remains on tons of accounts with all carriers. This is just another way to draw $$$ from your wallet! Just terrible!

So pay another way that doesn't charge you. It is a convenience for you but it doesn't mean that it is easier for them to do. Sometimes something as collectively a bill costs money to process.

If the company only took 1 form of payment you can bet that this wouldn't happen. Systems would be in place that they can handle easily. Costco only excepts 1 form of CC payment. I don't shop there because it is inconvenient for me to get another credit card.

Verizon's $2 fee violates California Law and is not applicable here. Just like their 14 day return policy is not valid in California... it's 30 days here.

BREAKING NEWS FROM CNN:

Verizon Wireless to scrap proposed $2 fee for one-time payments, citing "customer feedback."

How ironic, when the government steps in, they cancel the fee. But don't worry, they'll hide the $2 fee in your bill somehow, they always do.

I wonder what the outcome would have been had the nanny-state FCC not said anything...
