When it comes to watching YouTube videos on your BlackBerry 10 handset you have two options. As there is no native application you can either hit up the web browser (which does a great job) or if you want the 'native' experience you can check out FastTube which is 'Built for BlackBerry'. The app has recently been updated to version 1.6.0.30 - bringing some nice new additions and fixes.

New in the latest update:

  • Crash on fast scrolling bug fixed
  • Playlist Play All (continuous play) added
  • Active Frame shows current playing song
  • HD option hidden for problematic videos
  • Broken links fixed
  • Language support added for Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German.

FastTube is free to download and is compatible with all BlackBerry 10 devices. If you missed our initial hands-on with FastTube you can check it out here

Question:why is the install size of apps/games bigger than the download size?also, are there any memory optimizing apps for bb10?

I enjoy fast tube until I have to pay to sign in. I'll just stick with the Web browser until 10.2. Then I'll try to side load the android youtube

This is an example of what a native app should look like. I have one issue though.
When I add a video to a play list, it says that it is successfully added but when I go to that play list, it's empty..any suggestions? I will also post to the forum and contact the dev.

I don't agree that the web browser does a great job with youtube. At least not for me. Videos stutter a little and the controls are tiny and unresponsive. That being said, I do have this app and it is very good. I wish we could set it up so that youtube links could open automatically in this app

In the browser go to Settings>Developer Tools and turn off the Desktop Mode. The browser will use the mobile version of the site. YouTube will fit the screen much better and the small controls and glitches will go away.

Hope that helps.

It's ok but I miss being able to view comments while watching a video plus, I really really wish it worked in Landscape mode for search results. I have to keep twisting my scrawny neck when my BlackBerry is on its side in itsTransform case. ( I like to browse while eating ;)

Excellent native app & a very nice update. I use this daily. The Private Videos doesn't work for me either.

It can't play video in 1080p like supertube.....the app itself is better than supertube in ui but supertube is better when we talk about the video quality as it can play videos in 1080p...and I hope fasttube add the ability to download videos.......1080p and ability to download videos will be sweet I think... but anyway....it is a good native YouTube app

Since you cannot play even 720p in the browser, this app is a huge improvement. Also, 1080p only makes sense if you are outputting to an external 1080p monitor or tv, since the native resolution of Z10 and Z30 is 720p.

But i....used super 2 for YouTube app and it can play videos in 1080p..and it is very clear....and much better than 720p on fasttube

Does this app have the ability to let you watch videos that would normally be blocked for mobile viewing? I watch a number of videos that require desktop view. Do any of the other apps provide this ability? If not, I have to stick with the Web browser, which does fine for the most part.

I really do not like this app. Paid version is total waste of money. It does not have most of features of mobile youtube site. I would not recommend paying for this app. I just spent another $2 but this time it is bingo. I bought Super2. Awesome app it has everything what fast tube os missing.

What's the point when I can just goto youtube.com? There is nothing I'm reading that makes this or any other YouTube app including the official one worthy of wasting my space.

I find cascades apps higher quality, more enjoyable and easier to use than android apps and especially the default YouTube shortcut icon.
