Quick Review: Facebook for the BlackBerry PlayBook
The Facebook for PlayBook app was announced and released last week during BlackBerry World and has been fairly well received overall. It's definitely a great app for Facebook users as it allows easy access to news feeds, profiles, messages, photos and chat. It's dead simple to use and the app itself is quick and responsive. You can tell a good amount of work went into things to ensure it was easy to navigate and get around quickly. I did have a few instances where the app crashed without notice and for no reason, but hopefully that can be worked out over time with a software update. Overall I say Facebook for PlayBook is a great app and if you haven't checked it out yet you definitely should. Free is free right?

Likeing the App a lot :), would be good if they added images upload etc, maybe even straight from albume.

We can upload pictures but not to albums which sucks since I have a huge issue about organization and stuff....
The playbook facebook app is nice but in so many ways inferior to the actual blackberry app. Hopefully we will see atleast video upload and upload directly into albums soon.
I haven't had it crash on me yet...

Great app. Once group support and liking comments is added, it will be solid. For now, gotta stick to the site from the browser :P Also, Facebook 2.0 for handheld devices is much improved.

off topic: please write an article about Playbook battery. We have issue about it and I hope one of you in the crackberry can co-work with RIM to help us on how we can go back to our original playbook battery life, OLD OS version gives me 20+ hours the way I use it, but now the New OS can only give me 12hours of battery life. It is still good but I hope to get some pointers, tip on how can I go back to the original battery life of my playbook or on how to maintain good battery life. thanks.

I still get 20+ hours but that's with no use...I am averaging about 8-9 hrs with almost heavy useage which is perfect for me. Why you would want more I am not really sure.

My battery life is still good but from 20+hours battery life it drops to 12hours of battery life, I am not talking about standby mode,

Are you sure it was the update, or how you use the Playbook? For example bluetooth bridging will use up some battery life, and changing the multitasking mode to Showcase will too.

i am using my playbook now, just like how i used it on the first OS version. During the first OS version the battery life is 20+ hours of using it not in standby mode, anyways after security wipe, it seems that I am getting 3% of battery drop every hour which is better compared to 13% per hour, but still the first version is the best that only consume 2% of battery life every 2hours, that gives me 60% battery life remaining after 12hours of using it.

I don't understand, what's the point of an app when you can just go straight to the site? I have the FB app on my BB but I like using the mobile site better. Now with the Playbook having a great browser I don't understand the need for an app. Can someone explain the advantages of the app vs. the FB site?

With the actual site, you have to wait for all the content to load, advertisements etc. With the app, it shows you all the basic stuff you need with cool navigation features. That's what it seems like to me.

I would like to be able to go directly to the status updates and not the newsfeed with the app. For that reason I will probably stick with using the website on my PB.

I just can't wait for a decent twitter client 4 my playbook. Is the only thing that I really miss... Something like tweetdeck or hootsuite would be terrific.
