Facebook Messenger is now available from App World
If you are a frequent user of Facebook chat then you may want to take a look at Facebook Messenger app that has gone live in BlackBerry App World. The official app allows you to chat to your Facebook friends on the go.
Facebook Messenger app features include:
- Message a friend or start a group conversation
- Reach friends on mobile or web
- Get push notifications
- Know who's seen your messages
- Attach photos to messages
The Facebook Messenger app has been available for a while via the Facebook site directly but now it is available through App World.

This has been in appworld for over a year. Just saying.

Agreed. I've seen Facebook Messenger in App World a while back.

does it also load your contacts to Facebook if you are not carefully/or even then?
Very critical in my opinion.

Yep, I had it a while back too. It disappeared for some reason just recently. Couldn't find it after I did an OS update for my 9930 a few weeks ago. Glad it's back.

What's the point of this app when all my facebook chats come to me via direct messages?

Glad it made it back to App World!

Is this the same functionality as the Chat feature in the Facebook app?

This is a waste of memory for my 9930

To anyone who thinks that this app is a complete waste and utterly redundant: There is at least ONE key bit of functionality this app has that the native BB app doesn't: YOU CAN SEND AND VIEW PHOTOS WITH IT.... it's not possible with the other app...

My pet peeve about fb chat is that it will not stay connected.

Photo sharing with the messenger is awesome! +1 for this app.

Not sure if anyone will have the answer to this, but the older versions of Facebook MEssenger had a persistant connection, so it could give you "push" noitifications even without BIS, now I'm wondering, because that isn't an option anymore, do you still get a persistant connection on the new app, because I can't get BIS for another 2 months so need this persistant connection.
