Facebook for BlackBerry updated to version 2.0.0.50

Facebook for BlackBerry has received another small update today. The app now resides at version 2.0.0.50. Nothing major here as far as updates, just some minor tweaks and twirls to keep things running smoothly. Thankfully (or not thankfully depending who you ask) Facebook for BlackBerry still lets you view your News Feed the "old" way and hasn't taken on the new Top Stories format of Facebook on the web or other mobile apps. Updates in this version include:
- Fixed a logout issue that some users were experiencing
- Fixed a bug that caused the device to freeze upon receiving a notification
- Disabled the default synchronization settings
You can download Facebook for BlackBerry free from BlackBerry App World.

As much as I try, I still don't get the purpose of facebook. It is one of the first deleted apps
Am I first?

Let's hope the 3rd time is the charm with the notification freeze fix.

Nice, unfortunately apple is still negotiating with Facebook for the terms of their app so they still don't have the previous model.
So I hear Google Books and Amazon Kindle are having to discontinue their apps due to new apple fees. If this is true then apples monopoly behavior will start to work against it. Nice.

Downloaded, even though I have had zero issues on all Facebook applications I have ever had. Also, nice to hear that Apple's money is getting in the way of their customers!

I don't know if it's just a glitch right after updating, but even after the intial reboot I still get the notification noise I have set for FB but I no longer get an icon in my notification bar. I have rebooted again but haven't had any new notifications to check. Anyone else have this issue?
sj-performance Sep 29, 2011 at 1:49 pm

use alt r s t in app world or if you have the new version of app world just hit the "refresh list" and it should show an available upgrade.

Facebook has been working fine for me, even when I had the beta zone version.
eshadiq Sep 29, 2011 at 1:55 pm
Still no support for Groups???
mpscan Sep 29, 2011 at 1:57 pm
Nope, they still haven't fixed the uncaught exception error on OS7 9900/9930. Back to 1.9.0.28 for me. No wonder why RIM is hemorrhaging market share, they can't get the most popular app for the most popular social networking site on the planet to function correctly across all OS's and devices.

What uncaught exception error? Works just fine on my 9930.

I still can't like a comment within the original post.

What the hell is Facebook?
Connor83 Sep 29, 2011 at 3:32 pm
"Logout issue"? Wouldn't someone have to logoff facebook for that. lol the only addition I would like to see is a Calender icon within the app
Joy1980 Sep 29, 2011 at 6:38 pm
I think the issue is that the app would just sign out itself.
tkwolf Sep 29, 2011 at 7:21 pm
RIM give us the group support. Also, upgrading your standard twitter app and adding twitlonger would be good and allow us to retweet even private accounts...but its not like RIM's reading this :/

Am I the only one that caught the settings in the new version?
"Send BB contacts' phone numbers to fb"
"Send BB contacts' email addresses to fb"
Big fail!!
murialita Sep 29, 2011 at 9:15 pm
actually, I'm happy to see those settings. You didn't have a choice before, it sent everything to facebook.
ItsMe6 Sep 30, 2011 at 3:05 pm
Hmm never noticed that, guess that is good then
matthewmadness Oct 1, 2011 at 10:57 am
I cannot receive my notifications in my notification bar despite having checking the messages app.
I would prefer the previous version before the update. This screws my fb life on my phone now. :(
sofakingcdn Oct 2, 2011 at 12:24 pm
Notifications were working fine for me. I've never had an issue. This version is crap, slow, only works off wifi. Won't reload feeds correctly. On third install with no change. Blah.

I downloaded the updated version 3 days ago and it cancelled on me and said there was an error. Then I tried again yesterday and it did the same thing. Now I can't update at all, I get notifications when someone posts on my wall, but I can't open up the message, I have to go online, read the message and then go back on my phone and delete it because it's completely useless. Is there a way I can go back to the previous version?
