Facebook has once again been updated in the Beta Zone, this time to version 3.2.0.8. This one actually changes quite a bit within the app, so have a look at the list below and see what's been added or changed. Some of the stuff is notbaly carried over from previous builds but improved upon:

  • Ability to see the details of an event (basic information only: times, venue, description)
  • Ability to see the list of events that a user has created or is invited to in chronological order (not clickable items)
  • Ability to see a filtered guest list for the event by RSVP (Going/Not Attending/Maybe/Not Responded/All Invited)
  • Ability to see events shown as quickly as possible
  • Event notifications open the new event screens
  • Ability to change the RSVP status of an event
  • Ability to link all Facebook friends' birthdays to your BlackBerry Calendar
  • Previously integrated birthdays in the calendar are removed when birthday integration settings are changed
  • Ability to select which friends’ birthdays appear in the device calendar
  • Ability to see friends birthdays in chronological order from the current date
  • Ability to see friends birthday’s grouped with date headers
  • Previously contact-linked birthdays are pre-selected

The update is showing now in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, so be sure to grab it if Facebook is your thing. If you're not seeing it yet, sit tight. Looks like it is still filtering through.

No update for the Bold 9780 yet... For me here it's still 3.2.0.7 (which I have already)

I loved what they added in the last version where you can Write On Wall directly from the calendar alert. It's stuff like that which makes me love my BB!

My blackberry calander application option in facebook is greted out.

Any idea why it would be greyed out?

this new one is slow on my phone. much, much slower than the last official version. :(

decypher44 Aug 13, 2012 at 4:46 pm

Both versions for me are slow. Now I'm seeing a huge battery drain. May or may not be related.

Decypher44 I used to have the same problem on the version 3.2.0.7, I had to charge my phone 2 times a day. However after many reboots the problem is gone! And i didn't get it back on the new version!

BIG issue for me - notifications now seem to be coming through and showing up every time, but when I click on the notification, instead of taking me to the actual post, I just get a summary of the notification I just read, as follows: I post a comment on someone's page. Someone else posts a comment after mine. I get the notification that they posted, but when I click on the notification, instead of taking me to their post so I can read it, I just get a summary of the notification I just read (Bob posted on John's wall).

I KNEW I shoulda saved the .07 .cod before I updated. Oh well, back to app world for the official version. :(

I'm liking the integration with the calendar app now! When a birthday reminder pops up now, it gives me the option to write on the person's wall. I always thought there are missing linkages between the pim apps on my blackberry device. For example: I want to be able to set a reminder and link it to a contact from my contact list so when the reminder comes up I get the options to take actions, weather it be to call that contact or act on whatever else I have linked to that reminder. That's would be such a powerful to have at your fingertips.
