Facebook for PlayBook

We haven't really seen too many updates for Facebook for the BlackBerry PlayBook since it launched earlier this year, but today version 2.1 is available with some nice improvements including Facebook Groups. Also included is improved media access allowing you to more easily view photos and videos from within the app.

Facebook Groups is designed to let you share and interact with the groups that you are interested in the most. With Facebook Groups on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, you can view groups that you're a member of, post updates, photos and videos, view profiles of group members and send messages, and get notified of new group posts and interactions so you never miss an update. 

Facebook 2.1 is a free download and is available in BlackBerry App World.

Hopefully it doesn't crash as much. Current version has that issue for sure.

I'm happily using Facebook 1.8 for Android with Timeline on the Playbook. Solid piece of software.

Good to know. In the Android version, in the chat, can you see if someone is typing back to you? And does the chat just work well in general? Half the time people don't get my messages on PB version.

Yes, you do see it when someone is typing back. Only problem with chat is the keyboard is blocking the box where you type. Kinda big issue, but i don't really chat on Facebook.

I'm now seeing the update in App World.

I hate how it enables chat every time you upgrade. It should remember if chat is disabled from the previous install.

iOs and Android got their mobile update yesterday with Timeline.

We got ours today... but with no Timeline!

Really? For me, scrolling stutters compared to other smoother apps like the browser.

Ah, it does it when I scroll as it's also trying to load pictures and other data. Also, it's made with Adobe Air or Flash and it's not a native SDK app. I hope we'll see a native app with OS2.

I'm just gonna stay on a positive track here and say "Cool! So glad I got groups now." Maybe later I can test it out as I'm getting the notification to update but I don't see the update in appworld. Maryland,United States.

finally groups, no all we need is timeline and video chat. but groups is great something that has been lacking now if i can get groups and timeline on my phone id be set. also where the hell is the native twitter app? rim needs to make it themselves and make it good because no one else will

I did the upgrade, and now I can't view my events, even after a restart. Anyone have any suggestions to correct this problem? When I go to event it says an error has occured.
