Facebook for BlackBerry 4.0.0.3 now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone

A new version of Facebook for BlackBerry is now available for download in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. The update brings along pull to refresh, photo redesign and a slew of bug fixes and tweaks. It looks to be a good update overall, so if you're a Beta Zone member you should be able to grab it right now. Don't get too attached though since BlackBerry 10 will have a whole new Facebook to play with! Full list of updates below.

New Features

Pull to refresh
Photo re-design:
- Enhancements in full screen photo browsing
- Comments & Like/Unlike buttons
- Ability to view tags
- Slider animation (Slide between full screen photos)

Fixed Issues

Clean up files that add the #preprocessor markers, but don't need them.
Photos cannot be displayed using Menu option
When saving an image with 'Set as Wallpaper' checked, two copies saved on the device
UI issue when the user is already in the friend's list when a new friend is added
Clicking on the Like + Comments button will open the dialog box for the next photo
Swiping on screen with bottom eyelid buttons highlighted, brings up the same image
Facebook Photo\like count not displayed correctly when more 3 or more digits
Facebook Like\Unlike comments scrolling is not consistent with GCM and menu button
Imaging scaling not applied on device rotation
Navigation List BB menu option is not toggled correctly
Pull to refresh text overlaps with mailbox content
Facebook need to sync the Like and Comment bar to refresh when comments and likes are added
Incorrect photo is being saved on the device
Photo: Spinning green circle shown initially and then screen goes black prior to displaying image
Facebook Exiting out of a large photo album causes the screen to go blank
Facebook pull to refresh stops working after a few tries
Should say loading photos not fetching
Sometimes while swiping in a photo album in full screen view, image is not loaded
Performance: Slider animation is not smooth when swiping in an album
Facebook Photo comments not showing in menu bar and comment count not updating

The Menu is different in that it is now a list and not a grid. Miss the grid already!

Wait, pressing "N" doesn't bring me to my notifications anymore! Boo!!!

Oh, heck ya. I would open FB, then press "N" before doing anything else. I started doing that because the FB app was notorious for not sending notifications, so I would first go there.

The other shortcut keys still work, though. "F" for Friends, "M" for Messages, "E" for Events..and so on. Just "N" seems to no longer work.

Same here, sorta...OCD would kick in and I'd always clear the notifications. Now that the grid is gone and replaced with the list, "Notifications" isn't readily available anymore.

You've now got to hit the little globe on the upper right, which takes you to Notifications, Messages and Friend Requests.

Really? Picture load times seem quicker to me. What BB model do you have? I have a 9930 on Sprint.

I have 9850 Verizon and it is still excrutiatingly slow to bring up pix. And worse: I can no longer zoom in on them. This is not an upgrade.

I like how fast everything loads and how smooth i can slide between pic's,, but i dont like that i can no longer zoom in on pic's

I have a 9930 - and it finally seems that pictures load faster (or that they load in general).

- Pictures don't seem to load any faster, for me, on my Telus 9900.
* Haven't gotten any notifications since installing this version.
- 'N' short cut, as not further up, doesn't work for me either.
- I wish photos could be zoomed.
Otherwise, seems ok. I like the list vs grid.

* Update: after about 5 hours notifications started, and come before they do on my pc.

It means dragging the newsfeed down with your finger so it refreshes status updates. Only works for touch devices, obviously.

Still waiting for the e-mail. I guess it will take longer as I didnt have the z10 listed in my beta zone profile :( So I would have missed the first round of sendouts IF there have been some already
