It's been a while since we've seen an update to Facebook for BlackBerry 10. If you have been waiting for one, then you're in luck, if you have a Beta Zone, that is. It's not a big update but it does bring some new features to the mix. Like an Active Frame showing top stories. Definitely nicer to look at if you use Active Frames.

What's new in the v10.4.2.2 beta update?

  • Ability to rename Photo Albums
  • Active Frame now scrolls through top 5 feeds while in minimized state
  • Shows new notification count
  • Ability to Poke back directly from notification

If you have a BlackBerry Beta Zone account, open up the app to check for availability. If you don't have an Beta Zone account, you can sign up for one for free, though it is not available in all regions.

It seems a lot smoother so far. Of course it's too early to tell if it's a true improvement though.

Or just give me my bloody content in general. Massive amounts of my feeds are incomplete. Or is this what you're talking about? So, yeah, what he said!

Posted via CB10

I'm constantly missing content from feeds as well compared to browser or android app. Or I'll have gaps of multiple hrs between content where posts don't show.

Hopefully this will fix that issue.

I don't get what's so wrong with the BB10 Facebook app.

It's missing some features, but I wouldn't call it awful. But then again, I don't use many of Facebook's special features besides posting, reading posts, and commenting (and the chat function).

(the news feed issue HAS been annoying though - that is the only actual 'awful' thing I've personally found)

This update seems a bit unstable. I have only used it for 10 minutes and it crashed once and frozen another time. Overall it seems smoother and better executed aside from stability

I do!! The developers!!! The android version of facebook is shitting all over the BB10 version!! In every area too!! I finally decided to download the facebook apk. Overwhelming difference in content. If the videos and notifications worked I'd completely rid myself of Flopbook for BB10

Honestly, what's wrong? News feed is annoying but doesn't make then entire app brutal. I can post, comment, and read, isn't that all it really needs to do?

Active frame support is a huge boost to me. The difference between using an app and not a lot of the time for me

It would also be great if we could turn off notifications for comments or likes on posts, which is an option on the desktop version. Cos sometimes when you don't have access to a desktop and somebody tags you on sth that's commented on alot, it can get a bit annoying to say the least.

NOPE. My "Most Recent" news feed still manages to go from a 3-hour-old status to one that was posted 22 hours ago. Honestly, though, the website and the Android app do the same; difference being that it's much more frequent on the BB10 app.

Ya, all I ask is that they fix the news feed. I will have to download the beta app after work and give it a try.

Powered by BlackBerry

Active Frames are cool; however, I wish it would go to that story when you press the app.

And they desperately need a fix for the news feed! Only solution to work is as follows:
1) On your fb mobile/desktop app, select 'Most Recent.'
2) On your BlackBerry 10 phone, select 'Top Stories.'

Trust me, this works, and you get all your feeds. Only problem is that the fb mobile app resets every few days.

List of top things BlackBerry must fix but, for some reason or another, probably won't :

- push notifications in Amazon apps
- Facebook newsfeed
- Contacts app
- Photo albums (in BB10 'Pictures' app) shows OLDEST pictures first

;)

You know that this news is about a beta version in the beta zone?

If you really want to (try to) make your ideas count, as opposed to regular ranting, then you should post this in the FB forum in the beta zone rather than here.

Posted via CB10

The only wish I have is to see all posts in REAL order as they were posted!

It is so annoying that they are all mixed up right know...

Posted via CB10

It's ridiculous that Facebook has not made a native app for BB10. This shows how much they really care about their user groups.....dirty business as usual comes first for the zit er berg clan. The second a descent alternative comes to Facebook I'm there.

Posted via CB10

I'm still waiting for the ability to do both voice and video replies whenever I am in chat.

Sure these updates are nice, but not as important as the above two.

Posted via CB10

Poke is a feature which is outdated no one uses it, but where are the major things such as why there isn't cascades in the Facebook app, the browser does a better job. Why are my feeds always improper, I just want good ol feeds, just like ones on other platforms. The additional are perks, Blackberry has a New OS but why stuck with the Facebook for Bb7? Shouldn't there be a change as well. And the twitter app, pls update that as well, it is not at all even passable for the Q10

Posted via CB10

You have to dig into the settings to even find most recent in Android and every time you close the app it resets itself. FB for all intents and purposes sucks no matter what platform you're on.

Agreed. It's no better on iOS. The main feed is always Top Stories (which I hate) and cannot be changed (like on BlackBerry 10). The Recent posts option is hidden in the sidebar. I like the design of BlackBerry's Facebook app better, as well. Sure, there are more features on the iOS version, but it doesn't work any better than the BlackBerry version. I still have my iPhone so I know first hand.

The Native, Official, Twitter app works fine for me. I've tried most of the 3rd party ones, and find I stick with the Native Official.

It has been years since BB10 is out, for gods sake at least make the top social apps Facebook and Twitter Better, BlackBerry is forcing users to go to 3rd party or find solutions even for the basics

Posted via CB10

I've completely ditched the FB app and use a browser link. The Web version works much better and the news feed is always up to date. The only thing I ever see in the news feed with the app is game updates which I hate lol. It is a shame, the BBOS app worked so well. I loved the pop ups for birthdays etc.

Posted via CB10

Yes the game updates are the most annoying, and they are only on BBOS, and also the Feeds are NEVER in order

Posted via CB10

I agree with you, but what I'm trying to say is that if you were on other platforms there wouldn't be a need to go to the browser and use the app cause the app would have been better and more useful. What if facebook had not invested in their mobile site. We BlackBerry useres would have been stuck with a crap app and a bad Web app

Posted via CB10

The feeds still are random and the photo comments are not yet supported
This app made me lose my addiction to Facebook

Posted via CB10

Who wants to poke!? Don't use app anymore as misses half the posts, use the browers and android app... until they fix the feed will not use it! Shite

Posted via CB10

Ok the feeds are better now, but a lot of the issues remain. Not a native app!!!! And I have always wondered why does it stop loading feeds after a while. Maybe you scoll down about a days worth of feed and BAM you can't load more feeds, it's crazy annoying

Posted via CB10

Install five minutes deleted, do not understand what it updated! bug still, with a difference of android ios still a far cry!

Posted via CB10

I think you guys should take the WPCentral approach and do a mini video tour when an app/update comes no matter how small. It engages your audience more and give some perspective to buyers looking for an insight on how common apps perform/look on other OSs. Not just when a new app or when you come across a game you guys like.

I think some people don't know about changing between recent and top stories. It's the gear icon. It's gotten much better (at least for me) as of about a week or so ago. I see the same most recent posts as I do on my iPhone's app.

Posted via CB10

Still having issues with the timeline. You can only scroll past a few post. This app is just BAD!

Posted via CB10

I deleted the FB app from my phone and cancelled my account. I never use it and I really dont care to see pictures of peoples meals. FB is just the new myspace. They only social media website and app I use is Twitter. Its informative and funny at the same time

The news feed inconsistencies have forced me back to the mobile site access. Simply too much missing, too often.

This new update is quite nice. So far everything seems to be working for me. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come lol.

Posted via CB10

I really want to download the app however maybe I should wait and delete some friends on my computer first... otherwise I'll be deleting them out of my contacts!

Do miss this app though the browser just isn't the same. Glad to see some sort of update finally.

Posted via CB10

These updates are all fine and dandy, but they're kind of pointless to be honest. This app needed an entire UI redesign, need the most recent news feed fixed, so that it will actually show the most recent. Again, these updates are useless. No noticeable changes!

Posted via CB10

My app is working excellent. Do a clean install. I've even noticed some features similar to the BBOS App, like posting comments on pictures.

Posted via CB10

I do get different Newsfeed items on cell than on PC. So far, new app is OK but it still lacks so many features which you can do on PC... hopefully the upgrades continue.

Posted via CB10

I am going to delete it, reinstall the previous version. Cant manage fb page! Cant hideunwanted posting by others on page.

Posted via CB10

I can't wait for this update! I really hope they will fix the old issues as well, coz right now the Facebook app for BlackBerry 10 sucks.

Posted via CB10

Still it dsnt fine
Haha
Shame on u db makers for bb10
Big shame on u
U cant fix bugs in 20 updated
Fuck u

The News Feed updates is much better. However, messages was screwed up after using for 1 day. I didn't get new messages as prompt as I did when I first installed the app.

I have downloaded it and will put it through the ringer but for now I still prefer Facebook Mobile. They should just mirror the app to the Mobile site.

Quick question.

Are my own status updates and Facebook posts filtered from my news feed by default? I ask because I never see my posts in my news feed. I have to go to my personal page.

Posted from my Z30 on CB10

How about ability to see pics in comments??? And ability to admin groups!

Z30STA100-5/10.2.1.3247 on ATT 

Now my notifications have to be Touched on twice before it is established that I have already seen the post, from my hub.

And BlackBerry Beta Zone community won't tell me if I should of uninstalled BlackBerry App World FB while using the BBBZ FB, so am now a little bit confused
