F1 2013 now available on Steam - Put yourself in the driver's seat

Although this isn't exactly something for your BlackBerry but rather for Mac or Windows PC, it's certainly worth a mention because after all, it is BlackBerry related. The folks at Feral Interactive have now released on Steam and through the Mac App Store, F1 2013 for Mac. If you ever wanted to get behind the wheel of the F1 Mercedes AMG Petronas and do your best Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg impression this is one sure way to make that happen.

Features include Career Mode, which recreates the 2013 season in its entirety, Grand Prix mode, which lets you create custom championships, and Scenario Mode, which offers 20 challenges inspired by real Formula 1 racing situations. Multiplayer is supported as well (16 player cross-platform via SteamPlay, Mac App Store is limited to split-screen offline mode only).

In addition to all of that, the game is available in two variants: a Standard Edition and a "Classic Edition," which includes six 1990s-era cars from the Ferrari and Williams teams and legendary drivers Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher. Two additional tracks are included, as well: Imola (San Marino) and Estoril (Portugal).

The final pre-season 2014 testing took place in Bahrain on Sunday, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton clocking in a best time of 1m 33.278s in the new Mercedes F1 W05. The 2014 Formula 1 season opens with the Rolex Australian Grand Prix on March 16 and we've got some F1 stuff planned for you guys throughout the whole season. Until then though, you can enjoy the F1 2013 game through the links below, if that tickles your fancy.

It'll work on Windows 7, Steam is a store in which you can purchase games. Just click the Steam link though to see if your computer meets all the requirements needed to run it.

Thanks Bla1ze.
Will do that when I got home to my ZenBook.

On the off chance you are being serious Steam is a software marketplace/DRM created by Valve (The creators of Doom and Quake). It was originally just a game marketplace but has expanded to include other types of software as well. You can browse software on the site or the client and once you purchase software it will download and install it to your PC.

Correction needed: Valve created Half-Life, its sequels and derived products (Counter Strike, Team Fortress and its sequels).
Doom and Quake have been developed by ID Software :-)

Wrong. Doom & Quake are games developed by id Software, the studio lead by John Carmack. Valve released Half-Life, a game with GoldScr , a modified motor source of Quake (the id Tech 1).
And the rest is history. Games like Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, Team Fortress or DOTA 2 among others (with cash-record trophys in the eSport contests) makes Valve one of the most reputable videogames studio in the industry. And not forget about Steam and the yet-to-come "Steam Machines" consoles.

As noted...I was writing off the cuff. ID created Doom and Quake. Valve created Counter Strike, and Team Fortress. I sometimes get them backwards since both are so iconic.

Volvo had some trouble with "steam" here in North Queensland a while ago. Overheating or something. Several of their buses suddenly caught fire, went up in flames and burned out.

(Can't remember whether they decommissioned the whole lot. )

I know it's valve, I'm trolling. It's a joke Dota gamers only know :p

Huge F1 fan but I will wait for the real deal ;) Hopefully, there will be a F1 2014 app out soon.

Not sure if you're trying to correct me, don't realize how the games work...or are just super excited for the 2014 season lol. :P

My last title in the series was actually the first 2010 :), 2014 with all of the rule changes should be good.

Just had a great idea, why not join Lewis Hamilton Channel and root him on ,I'm on my way right now!!! I joined ..C00011785...looks great,64,956 subs.Official Mercedes channel

I know he meant subscribers. Thanks, all cool.

My comment was a feature suggestion. Sorry if that was unclear.

Indeed, it also fails to give credit to Codemasters who are the main developer of the game and have been for years.

For those of us who are BlackBerry fans and not totally up on the latest games available, this is a great post.

@Michael Stewart Not on Mac. Though you're right about Windows, which I haven't used since XP anyway lol. ;)

8 is gr8

(and Classic Shell will give you the start button)

8 is running on my meanwhile 8 no 9 year old dell dimension 5000 smooth and fast enough for me. Classic shell I've heard of, gonna try it out.

It's ridiculous. I managed to install it on 512MB RAM. Memory management so much better than 7, imho.

The only thing it needs is a CPU with PAE and NX support (execute disable bit). Another guy ran it on 256MB, that's unheard of since the days of XP.

XP - E.O.L. 2014-Apr-08. Cut-off for support!

Bye-bye or good riddance? You decide.

(I'm glad it's going, old, buggy, malware-ridden)

I find it interesting that CrackBerry is the only mobile nations site that has a viable reason to follow F1 racing. :) It's cool. Not a big gamer but will be following when the season starts.

Extremely interested in the new turbo v6s for 2014...and to see if Lewis/Nico, Fernando/Kimi or Romain Grosjean can give wonder-lad Vettel a good run for the championship.

A bit unrelated...F1 Champ/Indycar Champ/Indianapolis 500 Champ-Jacques Villeneuve to race Indy 500 this year.

Saw his 1st. win in Indycars at Road America '94(as well as multiple US Grand Prix challenges with BAR-Honda) and will be in the stands @ Indy because of this news.

@F1 JV..I'll always remember the time Jacques was crying in my arms as I tried to console him when he couldn't accept that a girl told him he was way too short for her.True story!! Sorry that was his uncle Jacques ,Gilles's brother, another, not so well know Villeneuve that couldn't follow in his brother's shadow,LOL

Check out Mercedes F1 car livery...self-explanatory after viewing.

Vettel is TOAST this year! GO ANYBODY BUT RBR!!!

seriously though, this year should be amazing to watch with the new rule changes. Look for low-tier team like Williams or Force India to surprise!

The smart money is on any team with a Mercedes engine, but lets face it, Mercedes AMG (the one with nico, lewis and BB sponsorship) is looking like the team to beat this season.

I know where I will be come 2AM in 10 days.. super stoned in front of my TV waiting for these words:

"welcome to melbourne austrailia for the austrailian grand prix and the start of the 2014 formula one world championship" giddy :)

Don't give the cops a heads up, dude! LOL

Your berry is secure, but this forum is public.

(none of that stuff for me anyway, anymore, God bless you)

Depends on where you live, though. Varies between states, even here down unda.

Random thought. BlackBerry needs a native steam app. The android one doesn't seem to work too well. I'd be handy, because I occasionally use the Windows client for instant messaging.

LOL great article Bla1ze but maybe not the CB target demographic XD I enjoyed it though. Steam is great and I like some variety thrown in my CB read ;) Thanks!

I have had all of the Codemasters F1 games and if you enjoy F1 it is the game for you no doubt. I stopped racing on PC a few years ago and now stick to XBox360, for reasons unknown to man this game (F1 2013) still has not been released in the US for XBox. Amazon has a seller for it though for $60-70.

I was a wreck after TOCA Racing 3 now this comes along. Real Racing 3 has become a pain to play since the cars keep pulling to the right and I can't find a fix.
So this is right on time. Wasn't planning to update to Mavericks but now I must.
