While there is certainly no shortage of browsers to choose from on the Google Play Store, there's one thing that is missing from most of them if you're coming from BlackBerry 10 and that's access to the same shortcut keys the BlackBerry 10 browser has. A new app called Keyboard Browser aims to correct that though by bringing those same in-browser shortcuts to Priv and KEYone owners.

From the jump, it's easy to see Keyboard Browser was designed to keep things familiar as it takes design queues from the BlackBerry 10 browser and since its release at the end of April, the developer has been expanding the capabilities based on feedback from folks in the CrackBerry Forums. The latest update pushed it into recommendation territory for me. So what shortcuts are enabled on Keyboard Browser?

List of shortcuts:

  • A/Q: Display menu
  • W/Z: New tab
  • P: Previous
  • N: Next
  • L: Reload
  • I: Zoom in
  • O: Zoom out
  • S: Find on Page
  • T: Go to top
  • B: Go to bottom
  • Space: Scroll down
  • Shift+Space: Scroll up
  • K: Bookmarks
  • U: Select URL
  • Del: Delete Tab (menu open)
  • Pinch In/Out: Zoom In/Out
  • Swipe Up/Down: Previous/Next tab (menu open)

To be clear, Keyboard Browser is still very much a work in progress, but if you're looking for a browser that really taps into the physical keyboard on Priv or KEYone, look no further. Plus, the developer behind it all, Alain Grange is super engaged on making it a great option for everyone.

If you're looking to give it a go, Keyboard Browser is available right now on the Google Play Store for free with ads, but you can help support additional development by getting rid of the ads for only $1.99 via an in-app purchase.
