Vinster78 Aug 18, 2011 at 9:40 pm
I think EA actually has as many games for BB phones as they do for iOS. But the playbook is still hurting. Good to see they're coming around
Maiev Aug 19, 2011 at 12:08 am
I posted some SCREENSHOT :) of the actual game on the CB forums ;)

About time we see something good!
jfs101 Aug 18, 2011 at 7:53 pm
Not supported on your device with your current profile... RIM, GFY.
SnoopTodd Aug 18, 2011 at 8:15 pm
umm, what device are you using?
jfs101 Aug 18, 2011 at 8:50 pm
Yo mammas iPad!... lol, sorry about that, couldn't resist the opportunity. That is the polite way for them to tell you that you're screwed because you don't live in a supported country. From what I've seen here DS is only for USA, Canada and Japan.
jfs101 Aug 18, 2011 at 9:40 pm
what do you know, it is available worldwide after all. Should've hit the forum sooner. Ok RIM, I take it back, you don't have to GFY, but why two different links to the app world?
SnoopTodd Aug 19, 2011 at 5:49 am
Lol

I know its super old... But remember those sweet multiplayer youtube videos we saw of team crackberry playing at bbworld in the spring? Uh.... Where is that? What happened? It looked pretty ready to me... If its available and my head has been under a rock please forgive my ignorance - perhaps I should have checked before writing this - lol.
samab Aug 18, 2011 at 11:34 pm
The source code for the game engine is open, the artwork is not.
Mr.Softberry Aug 18, 2011 at 8:10 pm
sweet I got a playbook and this is what I've been waiting for!!! Playbook FTW <3
btw, thanks EA & RIM for making this app available, I'm really looking forward for more apps like this one :)
TongueDar Aug 18, 2011 at 8:02 pm
WHOA!!! HOLY CRAP!!! I loved this game on my PC. I own both versions and alo the one on the Wii, but refused to buy the DOUCHE-Pad version, which if not for development I'd not own that hobbled tablet.
BUYING NOW.... Downloading... Now I have one of my favorite game franchises loading on to my favorite tablet. :)
Now I'm wondering if it's available for my ASUS Transformer, which I use more like a netbook. :)
Anyways, I'm wondering if RIM worked out a deal with EA to bring these games over, since Tetris and NFS were included with my PlayBook.
bbeezy Aug 18, 2011 at 8:08 pm
dead space?! thats. my. S**T! that was my very first platinum trophy! ran through it 5 1/2 times to get that platinum! no strategy guide. i dont know about ten bucks though. it is worth it on the playstation, but i'll have to see the controls and how it runs on the playbook first before i pay TEN for a (GOOD ASS console) game on a tablet.

They setup the turning like a trackpad and there's a setting to adjust how fast it tracks.
It actually works quite well. I'm not a big fan of smugde gaming, but this way at least allows me to turn as fast as I can swipe my finger.
Siiid Aug 18, 2011 at 8:09 pm
wow nice
Venichie Aug 18, 2011 at 8:13 pm
Downloading now... god something I'm actually excited about! I was thinking of actually buying the PC version, then this sucker popped up.
... CAN'T... WAIT... DOANLOADING... TAKING TO LOOOOOOOONG!
TongueDar Aug 18, 2011 at 8:52 pm
This isn't the same game as the PC, so definitely pick that one up also! And if you do get, it, make sure to do a search on Goolge about fixing the mouse controls. They tacked them onto the joystick and the in game's vsync if turned on, sets the screen to 30Hz like the consoles -- which was dumb-- and this creates mouse latency.
But having said that, it's easy to get the mouse under control so that it works great and the game is just awesome!
It is a tad too easy with the mouse though -- since it they balanced the game for slower reaction times of a gamepad, but you can start the game on hard, which helps.
shingi_70 Aug 18, 2011 at 8:14 pm
I find it funny that EA can support the Playbook, but not android other than the sony phones.
Jig_Insane Aug 18, 2011 at 8:15 pm
I absolutely love Dead Space and immediately began downloading once I saw this. I own all for the PS3 and the one for Wii. I can't wait to check this one out!!!!
ewakil12 Aug 18, 2011 at 8:17 pm
Only USA, Canada and Japan... :(
Douglasfx Aug 18, 2011 at 8:37 pm
Are you serious???? Again???
MuruXD Aug 19, 2011 at 4:33 am
no no...
i live in Denmark, and I got it..
they made 2 versions.. one for these 3 countries and one for rest of the world
Douglasfx Aug 19, 2011 at 9:44 am
I am downloading it now and I am in Dominican Republic so is not only US, Canada and Japan :)
I think everybody should buy this game to show developers we need more apps and we are willing to buy them, maybe it will help them understand that WE ARE THIRSTY!!!!!
Douglasfx Aug 18, 2011 at 8:18 pm
Can someone make a video of the game running on the playbook please :)
ericlc2 Aug 18, 2011 at 8:27 pm
Hope this is just the beginning for EA and the playbook, this is good news.
marksasongko Aug 18, 2011 at 8:28 pm
nope, not only in the usa, canada, and japan, "sweeeet!"
ocgeoff Aug 18, 2011 at 8:30 pm

eldrover Aug 18, 2011 at 8:34 pm
All those Playbook haters out there can go to hell! The Playbook is the Ipad killer to watch. Go RIM and QNX!!!

In Australia... Downloading now.... $12.25 for us though.... :( Lets hope it was worth it....
Concession Aug 18, 2011 at 8:47 pm
This my friends is the power of the Native SDK
There is no way EA would port a multimillion dollar game to a tablet if it wasn't easy, and this just goes to show it is.
Who cares about android apps, we get windows apps.
123berryaddicted Aug 18, 2011 at 9:17 pm
Exactly my thoughts!!! Look what ndk can do on qnx... I sure hope we see more of this, and not just games... I'm expecting pro business tools any day now!
Concession Aug 18, 2011 at 11:40 pm
Looks like I was mistaken. This is the iPad version of Dead Space, not PC. What I said is still vaild, the native SDK still does give us access to PC apps and allows apps of a much higher quality than we currently get with air/webworks.
If we can get iPad ports as well, that's A-O-K with me.
gord888 Aug 18, 2011 at 8:53 pm
this game was wicked on the wii... it looks kinda like a continuation of the story too.
Lonestar Aug 18, 2011 at 9:00 pm
This is they type of news i've been waiting for. $9.99 with no trial, i'll definerty wait for some reviews but if this is a success i seriously hope someone from RIM is courting shops like Blizzard or Valve. Could you even imagine Steam on Playbook? No you can't because your head would explode with #awesome
Douglasfx Aug 19, 2011 at 9:49 am
Dude if you can buy it go ahead and do it. We need to show developers we are going to buy their apps :)
cycomyk Aug 18, 2011 at 9:13 pm
finally a game worth buying
BigD00d Aug 18, 2011 at 9:13 pm
Oh god yes. So much awesome now. Dead Space is one of my favorite sci fi games!
MattBerry08 Aug 18, 2011 at 9:30 pm
Murphys law, the one time I'm away from WIFI (work). Blah. I'm buying without seeing it, or reviews etc 1) because it has awesome potential and I'm glad to have "non-fart" apps (doom rocks) 2) because maybe it will demonstrate that this OS and form factor have supportive users who WANT apps and are willing to support them.
We can only hope that this is the first of many (?next week!) and not an aberation.
mikelcal Aug 18, 2011 at 9:34 pm

To anyone who is doubting this game, you don't have anything to worry about. Simply put, this is the most graphically pleasing game on the Playbook. Smooth, fluid, gorgeous are words that I would use to describe it. Nothing compares to how this looks on the device - if you are used to the existing game apps, this will utterly blow them away.
As for gameplay, it works suprisingly well - you will have to spend some time getting used to how to navigate and fire weapons/attack monsters but by Chapter 2, 3, or 4, this should be easy. Movement is controlled by your left finger; attacking where you take some weapons and dissect monster limbs (always fun) you also swipe from towards the top of the frame or bottom of the frame. Sometimes when you are grabbed, you have to tap on a circle on the right hand side of the screen as fast as possible. You also use the tilt controls to adjust your weapons by tilting the screen to the right or to the left. Later on, you have to shake the Playbook to activate some. Your right finger adjusts your camera/viewing options and also allows you to aim and shoot with your weapons.
I would recommend playing with headphones, although the internal speakers are alright, but the soundtrack really comes alive with the headphones. Also, I recommend playing in a dark and stormy night - the game is creepy and playing it in the dark only adds to the suspense.
In short, you can't go wrong with this purchase and RIM should be using this app as a showcase of the power of what the Playbook can do.

C'mon Bla1ze, what's with that lousy pussy Dead Space trailer? If you put one up, you should put The Proper One. Here, use this link for your future posts about Dead Space: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67cTIWDuKXM
murnende Aug 18, 2011 at 10:54 pm
Finally! I was wondering when RIM's big 'partnership' with EA would start to yield results. While I'm hoping more for useful apps, like a decent .pdf reader, this is definitely the most exciting release for the PlayBook since launch. Here's hoping it's the beginning of better things.
kariakoo Aug 19, 2011 at 12:27 am
£9.99 damn! too much
Gnome Aug 19, 2011 at 2:40 am
Agreed! Another example of rip-off Britain. $9.99 in the US equates to £6 not £10!
theRIMMER Aug 19, 2011 at 1:02 am
$9.99 for the PB come on! I bought that game for my iPad for 1.99
samab Aug 19, 2011 at 1:32 am
The ipad version also cost 10 dollars.
