Earlier in the month we saw that
Rogers customers could download BBM Music and get 6 months free service. This offer has now been opened up to more customers around the world. If you live in Canada or the US you can get up to 4 months free BBM Music service and if you live in the UK, Spain or Italy, you can get up to 6 months free.
One thing to note is that this is only available to new users and those still currently in their trial period. If you have already starting your subscription payments, unfortunately you are no longer eligible for the free service promotion.
The latest update to BBM Music is to version 1.1.0.12. With this update comes a whole lot of new features including subscription gift request and the ability to invite Facebook and Twitter friends.
Don't forget this offer is valid if you download during the month of February, so if you're looking to give BBM Music a try, now is the time.

I like BBMM. I still think they should have an ad supported, free option to really get the word out. I use Nobex, Pandora and Slacker with no increases to my bill and don't mind those services. Blackberry should somehow compete with these free services. I will use BBMM for as long as I can.
birdman_36 Feb 13, 2012 at 11:56 pm
"BBMM"? I would call it BBMusic
forsakenwaste5 Feb 12, 2012 at 7:20 pm
they are doing this whole "6 months free" because no one is using it or subscribing...
jsn204 Feb 12, 2012 at 7:24 pm
hmm they seem desperate lol
protofa Feb 12, 2012 at 7:33 pm
In a world of free, why pay?
pipotobe Feb 12, 2012 at 8:51 pm
Exactly...
This BBM music doesn't make sense to me.
First of all some ppl get trials for 6 months, others 4 months.
When this started it was 30 days then 3 months for free.
I feel like the ppl who are paying for this may regret since this will obviously be free in a couple of months, if not I predict the death of BBM music.
gord888 Feb 13, 2012 at 1:33 am
If you try it, it might start to make sense to you. It's a fun social music network. I started using it and it has become a great way to find new music.
Double_J75 Feb 12, 2012 at 7:51 pm
I pay for it. In a world of free I decided to go crazy and spend $5 a month. Heck I down load everything else so I can kinda feel good for giving a few bux back :)
My only gripe is I wish I could identify who has let there subscription run out *more* easily. Currently I have to go through nearly 500 contacts and look at their songs to see if they have the arrows beside them. It is a pain in the butt.
Wolf35Nine Feb 12, 2012 at 8:11 pm
That's a great idea!
dusdal Feb 12, 2012 at 8:15 pm
I think that the blue star beside the name of the contact indicates that they are subscribed.
I could be wrong, but I checked each one that didnt have a blue star and found the majority of their list had the 30 sec. plus sign beside it. I hope I'm right and that this helps you!
raremage Feb 13, 2012 at 3:41 am
Holy crap, it's $5 per month? No way I would ever pay an additional $60 per year to share music lists / tastes.
Maybe, just maybe, for a buck a month....but probably not even then.
SurrealCivic Feb 12, 2012 at 8:00 pm
GPRS? Really?
DJ Reyes Feb 12, 2012 at 8:09 pm
Yes, I live in the mountains of Scotland . Only some parts get 3G. Have to live with awful GPRS speeds when at home.
yvpan1 Feb 12, 2012 at 9:49 pm
that's alright though, you've got the wifi! i also use EDGE for most of the time on my 9900 even though at some areas 3G covers much better, but the phone keeps heating up for somewhat reason & the battery life isn't that good compared to that on EDGE..
anw.. BBM music rules!
adicktuz Feb 12, 2012 at 8:18 pm
Is it available to ALL countries now?
DJ Reyes Feb 13, 2012 at 9:22 am
Currently available in US, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands and Australia. For the latter three countries you get the original 30 day free trial. Who knows those may be extended too.
xiaohuaxing Feb 12, 2012 at 8:24 pm
This was a dumb idea. I can't name a single person who has this besides the guy in the 5th comment.
hjang86 Feb 12, 2012 at 8:27 pm
makes me wonder why CB would recommend something that's only rated 2.5 stars.
luqman24 Feb 12, 2012 at 8:40 pm
I said this before and I'll say it again, no one will pay to listen to music since its already available online for free. RIM shoulda made this a free service from the start since we already subribe to BIS. Shouldve been a bonus.
Wolf35Nine Feb 12, 2012 at 9:00 pm
Gosh, I was just thinking that! Who knows what will happen when they start supporting activesync, but this is a great point.
asiayeah Feb 12, 2012 at 8:44 pm
Great! Please bring the service to Asia!
zensen Feb 12, 2012 at 9:09 pm
So this is the current list of countries that can get. Free trial for 4-6 months. Shame this isn't worldwide.
These days I don't "pay" for BIS it bundled in with my contract so I get the benefits of other phones plus the "unlimited" internet plus other b services. In saying that if this was included with bb phones with bis from the start this would get ppl noticing! Even an ad supported version would be great. I use streaming radio app and that has done me good so far!
From what I read, its not very easy to go thru contacts who have subscribed and still currently use it. The pricing structure favours the states too.
BoldWorld Feb 12, 2012 at 9:16 pm
so how do i get 6 months free if im already in a 4 month trial?
llllBULLSEYE Feb 12, 2012 at 9:27 pm
I finished my trial Period and I'm now paying for the service and will keep
this as long as I own a BB. A lot of people speculate without giving something a try.
menaknow Feb 12, 2012 at 9:43 pm
I finished my trial and pay now for the service. It took me by surprise but it is a pretty good service.
As for everyone knocking BBM Music, try it. That is why the extended the trial, to get you to try it and get hooked.
As for those who will not pay for music. They are not targeting you! You would NEVER pay for music in the first place! BUT that is not true for all users!
There is a reason why iTunes and a Zune music pass are popular. BECAUSE PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY MUSIC!!!
sheap74 Feb 12, 2012 at 9:53 pm
yeah, do i uninstall and redownload or is it already set for me since i am in the trial period?
theRock1975 Feb 12, 2012 at 10:52 pm
I stopped paying for music in the late nineties. I found CD's were inconvenient and i was always afraid of scratches. So i started some mp3 / flac collections and moved them around from computer to computer to NAS and now I'm tired of doing that. I gave BBMM a try and decided to pay! $4.99 is so affordable to listen to listen to your favorite music and the music of all your friends.
Who gives a crap about free radio. Listen to what you want when you want it. Make a playlist for the gym, make one for the bus ride, make one for work...
I have a 16GB memory card in my Bold for music but really why bother loading music onto it? It's not even worth the effort. The time it takes to to earn $4.99 is way less that the effort of tagging mp3s, downloading, archiving, moving around...
But if you're that broke ass than yeah, spend your afternoon playing with files.
austriker Feb 12, 2012 at 11:42 pm
Ssoooo how do we know when the trial ends? Will it just be added to our mobile bill??!?
technowiz95 Feb 13, 2012 at 12:15 am
How do I go about extending my free trial on AT&T?
titanjhb Feb 13, 2012 at 2:20 am
They need to add more countries, and quickly!
Feature they can add in future versions, connect and share (as in transfer the song) via a tap/NFC. Not only will that make it a social app but a physical interaction app as well.
brunolovesbrit Feb 13, 2012 at 8:10 am
I'm from italy...
I downloaded it and it only gives me 30 days trial
Joe257 Feb 13, 2012 at 9:56 am
I removed BBM Music last month because I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it, but now I want to re-install but it won't let me. I go to App World and it shows up, but there is no Re-install or Delete button. No buttons at all. The icon still shows up on my BB but I cannot delete it anymore. If I click on it, it takes me to App World and all I can do is view details or share it with someone. I've been banned!!!

We have been waiting to hear an official date for OS 2.0 a really long time from BlackBerry or a RIM employee. Ever since the first whispers of a date were published, it's all been speculation. Today though we got some official RIM confirmation. At the Developing Native Games with the BlackBerry NDK 2.0 Webcast today, Angel Aldana, RIM Manager (Latin America Alliances), confirmed the official date of PlayBook's OS 2.0 launch to be... Tuesday, February 21st! Barring any setbacks, we will have a shiny new OS on our PlayBooks in about 5 days! This is awesome.
