Documents To Go for BES 10 now available on Android and iOS

By Bla1ze on 29 Aug 2013 05:58 pm EDT

If your work environment is making use of the BlackBerry Secure Work Spaces portion of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and you're using an Android or iOS device, you now have access to Documents To Go through the respective app stores for Android and iOS. If you're not familiar with Documents To Go, it's an app suite created by DataViz that allows editing of native Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint files.

  • Word To Go includes rich formatting features including bold, italics, underline, font color, alignment, bulleted & numbered lists, tables, bookmarks, comments, footnotes, endnotes, track-changes, word count, find & replace, etc.
  • Sheet To Go offers powerful data computation with support for 111 functions, cell, number & sheet formatting, row & column preferences, auto-fit options, freeze panes, sort, cut, copy, paste, undo, redo, charting, etc.
  • Slideshow To Go allows you to effortlessly “flick” through slides, review notes, rehearse timing & make last minute changes to presentations on the go.
  • PDF To Go provides high-fidelity viewing of important reference materials with options for page view, word wrap, auto-rotate, bookmarks, search, select & copy text, and more.
  • Total access with support for attachments, password-protected files and built-in file browser
  • Localized in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Turkish, Russian, Polish, Czech and Arabic and traditional and simplified Chinese

As noted, the apps are specifically for BES 10 users and will not work unless your organization has the necessary back-end BlackBerry Enterprise software, so average consumers have no reason to download this suite. That said though, consumer offerings of the same apps are available for purchase on Android and iOS while they are included for free with every BlackBerry smartphone.

Think they should have done this with Bbm... give them the Bbm but make them pay for video, and call

Finger flicking good! Z10

Shouldn't exclusive Blackberry features stay exclusives? That's how you make people want to be your customer instead of the competition. Maybe it's good to go multiplatform if only the basic features are on the others platforms but everything else is exclusively to Blackberry. Maybe some iOS or Android user will love BBM so much that they want the complete experience on Blackberry so they get a BB.

They make $100 per device per year on the secure work space for ios/android so I think it's ok

DataViz used to own DocsToGo many many years ago and was cross platform on PocketPC, Palmos (before the Pre), and even Symbian loooong before BlackBerry bought it out.

It is just now continuing what it was created to do in the first place.

You do t make features exclusive when your devices hardly sell vs the competition on a global scale and when youve formed a committee to Re evaluate the business!

I knew they just revised pricing for it recently to entice more people to use it. I know when I was looking into setting up our BES server it wasn't cheap (it did have a ton of great qualities to offset that price)

Good to hear BBRY is offering both security and value.
Thanks for the update on the BES side of the company. I don't hear much about it in the news.

Its a good value proposition, like this. and no, i don't think they're setting up to sell themselves. I mean, adding values to a proposition = selling themselves? I mean, what?

This is something I use all the time on the BlackBerry Andy daughter would love to get a hold of for her Iphone. But as stated this is only for the corporate servers, the general public will still not be able to get their hands on it so don't worry BlackBerry owners still have bragging rights!
