DIRECTV DVR Scheduler App Now Available for BlackBerry Smartphones

In the works for quite a while now, the DIRECTV DVR Scheduler app is now available for BlackBerry Smartphones. The easy-to-navigate app gives you quick access to various DVR and channel-browsing functions right from your device. Just fire it up, enter your login info and you're good to go. Search for shows, browse by channel, date & time and more. Once you find something you want to record, just hit the menu key and you can schedule it with a few clicks. The app is a welcome alternative to using the slim mobile site. The DIRECTV DVR Scheduler is free and runs on the Storm & Storm2, Bold, Tour, Curve 83xx, 85xx, 89xx and 88xx series devices. I have been looking at their site for months and just kept seeing BB app coming soon. I mean android just came out and there app was available. There has to be more BB's in the market than the other smart phone almost combined yet we get all the apps last. What is going on? Oh well will be downloading in a minute.

Update.
Downloaded and working great. Able to record a show without any problems.

Directv is having server issues, somethings seems to be working and other functions are not. Does not seem to be a app issue, even the iphone app users are having the same or similar issues. One place that BB Directv issues can be reported is: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=174437
since Directv monitors that thread.

1.2 MB. At least it is for my 8330. Seems ok, I'll have to try it again when I leave work. Seems kinda intermittent.

I tried to log in but here in Venezuela you need ID number and password intead of email and pass... so no joy for me :( guess ill keep using the mobile site :(

Something that was not mentioned is this app is in beta. So issues will arise. Currently the team is working on getting the browse by channel guide to populate.

My browse by channel works, it's search that is causing issues for alot of people,but for some it is browse by channel. Again I think it is on Directv's server end, not the app itself.

These services all need to evolve. ORB has provided 3rd party web based solution to watching from BB for years. No reason DTV and Cable can't do the same.

I wish they would come out with one for Uverse. I have not tried it on BB but I am sure too much flash is involved in the main site.

Just wondering.. I've checked and the App isn't in compatibility mode... but it doesn't seem to rotate on my phone and shows only in portrait mode.

Anyone else have this issue on Storm / Storm2?

Yes, not sure the app supports landscape.

Also, their website warns it will only work with official OS loads.

I'm using a .451 leak and so far none of my searches for shows returns a result.

Maybe I'll upgrade to SaskTel OS despite being on Verizon. That thread states its considered an official OS so hopefully DirecTV and Mobile Banking will work.

I have the SaskTel OS update on my Verizon Storm II. Mine won't go into landscape. I can browse by date and time. Initially it wouldn't browse by channel but now that's working.

This is a very nice application. I've used it for several weeks during the testing period, as well as now since its public release.

As someone who travels a fair amount of time - this has become a necessity.

DL'd it and gave it a spin. Login was a snap and after selecting a program to record, went to my DVR to check and whatdoyaknow? It was there...great so far IMO.

Man this works awesome on my BB Storm2. Only thing I wish it had was the ability to add 5 mins. to a recording but other then that its really nice to have this.
