The Dingleberry jailbreak tool for the BlackBerry PlayBook has received another update and now sits at v3.3.2. The new update brings some minor tweaks and fixes along with a new script. Each version of the tool seems to get better and better as we go along, so hopefully they'll keep coming. Updates to v3.3.2 include:

  • Fixed an issue with IP addresses
  • Scripts are now monitored better (termination and echo output).
  • Fixed a timing bug that affected some users (from DB 3.0 to 3.3.1) with bad USB latency. Thanks ledhed33.
  • New Script: Toggle USB Host Mode

If you haven't yet tried to jailbreak your PlayBook using Dingleberry but are interested, you can check out our full guide here to get you up and running -- just don't hold us responsible if you break anything along the way :-)

If we are "dingled" with an older version of Dingleberry, how would we go about updating our jailbreak ?

And BIG thanks to to the development team of DingleBerry !

LOL, Almost as ridiculous as using "curlyfriez" as your handle ... well I say that and then noticed that 11 people did so before you ... now that's ridiculous LOL.
Maybe to shut me up, you can provide a back story ... you work for McCains or something?

Poncherelley sounds just as bad.

Oh, and for the record, when 'Googling' 'poncherelley', it shows, as the second result, as CHiPs on Wikipedia, funny, huh?

I mean, you're slagging his name off, but your name relates to chips, too?

Yup, Poncherelly is meant to reference CHiPs. It was a nickname given to me a while back by some friends. Although not the nick name I would have given myself, it makes me laugh now.
If you're interested (an I know you are), I used to ride motorcycles and I used to have a thick head of hair; much like Poncherelly from CHiPs. My buddies thought it would be funny to call me Ponch or Poncherelly as a laugh. It stuck and I've since adopted/kept it as my on line handle.

Now you know the rest of the story ;)

3.3.3 is actually out also:

3.3.3 Released
- More error checking in script loading and Dingling.
- Check if user has root before running script.
- Automatically fix malformed scripts from Windows.
- Attempt to fix bug that prevents users with 'slow Playbooks' from dingling and running scripts. Added a lot of pauses in USB communication. (Dingling now takes an extra second for normal users).

FORGET DINGLEBERRY.....what does it do NOTHING? have u seen any1 tweet the playbook NO? has alot of people used it NO? how many comments are on dingleberry posts VERY FEW. ....ITS a stupid HYPE and those of u that build it should put it to rest... the only thing dingleberry did was give Blackberry a bad name...not please stop with your updates..

So, is that hole patched in OS 2.0? I thought QNX was supposed to be a secure kernal. BB OS never got rooted but the first QNX did early in the game.

Ive rooted one of my PlayBooks (yes, I got a couple) and personaly, I dont see what all the woop is, or the huge advantage of Dingleberry... I guess I dont see how it benefits the end users as a whole...am I wrong?

Sure, you can mess around but there's something safe and warm about Production units :)

I did install script from 3.3.1 but now there is no voice for even videos too, mostly AVI files.
Can anybody fix it??????????????

I have a question... I used dingleberry to root and have ice cream sandwich launcher working to get to android market. most apps i have downloaded seem to work decently, but overall freezing more than i like and orientation issues. i have a bunch of .bar apps i have side-loaded using ddpb. when i open those apps it asks me to choose ics launcher or qnxapplauncher. how can i get straight to the app seeing as i sideloaded them? is there a way? just seems like a lot of manipulation to get to an app.

BlackBerry PlayBook

We have been waiting to hear an official date for OS 2.0 a really long time from BlackBerry or a RIM employee. Ever since the first whispers of a date were published, it's all been speculation. Today though we got some official RIM confirmation. At the Developing Native Games with the BlackBerry NDK 2.0 Webcast today, Angel Aldana, RIM Manager (Latin America Alliances), confirmed the official date of PlayBook's OS 2.0 launch to be... Tuesday, February 21st! Barring any setbacks, we will have a shiny new OS on our PlayBooks in about 5 days! This is awesome.

Ive got the new update 2.0 ..do u know if i can download the android markets app to my playbook? like you have there with dingleberry?

Can anyone help, how to download this application to my Windows PC? I can't download it from this site.

Thanks
