Wake up with a smile using Digital Alarm Clock Free for BlackBerry 10

By James Richardson on 20 Jul 2013 01:58 pm EDT

As well as having a native alarm clock on BlackBerry 10 there are some decent third party ones too in BlackBerry World. I recently found Digital Alarm Clock which is a port but it works perfectly and I'm loving it.

The application has a beautiful green, black and white user interface and that's one of the things that first attracted me to it. But it's the functionality where things make this one stand out from the crowd.

When setting a new alarm you are given a wide range of options to choose from. At the top of the screen you set the time (which is kind of important with an alarm app). Then you need to add a title for the alarm and this will come in handy as multiple ones can be set, therefore also acting as a reminder style app. There's a decent selection of alarm tones to choose from including the Flintstones and Scooby Doo which made me smile. You can use your own music if you want but not with this free version.

You can tweak the alarm volume as well as the snooze duration and even have vibrate on or off - all easily accessible when creating an alarm.

If you fancy a change from the native alarm clock give this one a try. It's free after all.

Wake up with a smile using Digital Alarm Clock Free for BlackBerry 10

Fiiirst! Do developers have access to the pull down part of the BlackBerry UI? (the glowing red clock, sleep mode whatever its called)?..

Kind Regards, Tino Chiko C0008DDD1 TechCraze!

Sadly, nope. That would conflict with the settings menu pull down. BlackBerry's alarm clock get a the only exception. At least for now.

I didn't mean can they bring it to when the screen is unlocked too, I'm just wondering if an app can be created to personalise it

Can't wait for the alarm and clock setting of 10.2 I heard it's beyond awesome and there will be some neat features on it......

Sexy White BlackBerry Z10

If you have 10.1 you can install the new alarm. It works really well (multiple alarms, etc.). The only thing I'd like changed is for the screen to remain on with the clock instead of timing out and going dark.

Just looking for a clock were I can get hourly chimes. Should be a feature set within the OS10. Thoughts?

I rely heavily on my Z10 for the alarm to wake me up for work. I'll check this one out to see how well it works.

Anyone else getting the "requested content not found" error in BlackBerry world? I also tried to search it manually and can't find it.

Yep I am getting it too, AT&T Z10 running 10.10.2342 for me. Not sure what the issue is.

Still waiting for your explanation as to how CrackBerry was in on the whole data mining thing. While you're at it could you also explain what makes you think the app was removed due to privacy concerns. Thanks in advance.

Let the lad make up stupid shit with no proof. It's a free country and this is CB. Apparently some think BB is responsible not only for itself, but for third party crap too.

Are you sure? Crackberry does their homework and worse case scenario, they were probably not aware. I dont wanna start any conspiracies here but I think it has to do with the recent Blackberry world update. Ever since I upgraded Blackberry world, the apps on the front page(top grossing apps & games and trending apps & games) are giving me apps specific to my region. The developers in the country I am in are still embryos and I don't have any use for Mexico's maps(since I don't even live in mexico!). Can I please have my global selection of apps and stop(or have the option to disable) this segregation?

Device identifying information, access to Internet, access to content on your device. If this is your definition of way too much information you need to stop using cell phones, or computers, or bank machines, or credit cards... the list goes on.

.as does the retread of this ridiculous false analogy. You glossed over the permissions requested - have another look at "Shared files " permission.
That you have no idea what I have stored on my device, renders your reply asinine.
Neither my bank nor credit card have access to such information on my phone
If any of the examples you listed were used as an alarm clock, and requested this access, I would :
immediately discontinue use
have my head examined for choosing such an inefficient time keeping tool
We're talking about an alarm clock app. From a developer who is not encumbered by the disclosure and regulatory requirements of a bank or credit card company. There are other protections including those on my computer. Before you respond with another canned response, consider you have recourse for unauthorized access of you device or content. That's considerably different from giving free rein to Joe Blow from Whoknowswherethefuckastan, over your device and it's content. For an alarm clock app.

That access is why the app isn't really free.

Good day sir.

It's there. Just looked and found it... 99 cents. search for digital alarm clock.

You can sideload the BAR file from OS 10.2. You don't have to wait for the OS to come out. PM me if you want the file to sideload. It works well with the 10.1.x.xxxx OS' out there. I sideloaded it on my wife's Z10 (I am running 10.2 on mine).
The clock allows you to program many alarms. PM me if you want the file.

"Requested content could not be found " has been coming up for a few days now in CB articles that Link to app world. It could have something to do with the recent updates to app world itself.

/ just a guess.

Looks like a nice app, but I find the native clock / alarm to be more the adequate. And I wouldn't give up bedside mode for anything.

Posted via CB10

My only concern is if I have an overnight reset while charging. The native alarm still goes off in that scenario, from what I've noticed 3rd party apps running in an active tile close and don't come back up.

About the application not found if you follow a link, try looking for it through the search option.

Here's a question.. how come 3/4 of the time I see a sick app or game on here that I want to download and then when I go to Blackberry the content cannot be found:(.. I want this alarm clock!!

Posted via CB10

I use the pull down alarm clock! Running! And it allows me set my alarm with my own sound notification! It works fine!

..regardless of whether one uses the link or attempts to manually search - it ain' there.

DilBit Powered Q10... 10.2 where ya 2 bye??

Ok. Found it. Go back to middle of first page. One of the posters put up a link - that goes to free version Z10 only.

Scroll down on details section of app and find the Apache Link. That will take you to a list of others apps..the paid version will work on Q10.

What I do not like is that I am unable to edit my permissions for this app. And as was commented about earlier, No one, not even my bank needs to look at my files. At the same time, I checked a whole host of apps, many of which had shared files turned on.! Thanx for the heads up on that.

Apps that lock me out..will find their way into zee can ja? Capiche?

DilBit Powered Q10... 10.2 where ya 2 bye??

The biggest problem I have with all the 3rd party alarms so far on BB10 is that they are subject to the media volume. If I have to remember to turn the volume back up every night then I might as well just change the alarm time each night on those days that I get up at a different time. I went with side loading the 10.2 bar for the clock and so far so good.

I loaded this app and have my alarms all set up and they never go off. If I set the time ahead of what I have it set for then it goes off.

Maybe I am missing something. I loaded it on my 9930
