Hello again readers! Dear Berry is here once again with a mailbag full of BlackBerry questions and woes. Today's question comes from a reader who asks:

Hello, I recently was using my BBM app and as I was scrolling down my updates, I accidentally blocked updates from a specific contact, I noticed it allowed me to undo this, but I guess I missed that. Anyways I went online to find out how to unblock my contact updates. And I found that you have to go to edit blocked contacts, this is where I get stuck. I can't edit blocked contacts, I don't see that option on my Z10. All I see is when I click blocked contacts it allows me to see who I have listed under blocked contacts, blocked app and blocked updates. When I click on the contact i want to remove from the list the only option I get is remove. My question is, do i press remove to restore my contact updates? If not how do i need to fix this issue please.

Dear reader,

I'm sorry you are having an issue editing blocked contacts. Normally this is how you would unblock a contact/app/update on BlackBerry 10

  • Swipe down in BBM and go into Settings
  • Scroll down and tap on Blocked Contacts
  • There should be three tabs that appear: Invites, Apps, and Updates
  • Tap on Updates
  • The blocked contacts should appear underneath
  • Press and hold on the blocked contact until the action menu appears on the side
  • Tap on the Trash Can / Remove icon

This should remove the contact from the blocked list and allow the updates to appear once again in BBM. To answer your question yes choosing the remove option does clear it from the blocked list and restores your updates. These steps will also work when unblocking the other categories as well.

See you next time!
