Hello my faithful CrackBerry readers! Dear Berry is here again to answer any BlackBerry questions and woes that you may have. Let's open up the mailbag and see what this week's question is:

Hi There,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I set up my hotmail account as an alternative email on my blackberry phone. Now the email shows up on my contact list. Every single one of my contacts have my hotmail address at the top of the page. I can't seem to find a way to remove this from all of my contacts. I also deleted my hotmail account completely from my phone but it didn't delete from my contacts. Can you help me?

Thank you,

Marianella

Dear Marianella:

Thank you for submitting your question to me. This is actually a question that pops up numerous times in the forums. The simplest way to correct this issue is to delete the email as you have done and then wipe the contacts. Keep reading for a simple way to do this without wiping your entire device.

I suggest first backing up your contacts via Desktop Manager or BlackBerry Protect and then follow the instructions below:
  1. Go into your Contacts
  2. Press the Menu key and select Options
  3. Type rset (a pop up will display asking if you want to wipe the contacts)
  4. Select yes through all windows
  5. Restore your contacts via Desktop Manager or BlackBerry Protect

Hope this helped!

-Berry

When you sync your contacts when first setting up the mail account on your Berry, I had same problem when I did my Gmail account. I used solution above and all was good.

I have a problem with this "solution". What kind of command is this rset? Where is this documented that a regular bb user can find?

I used one of this gimmics to modify for how long I can snooz an alarm/appointment. Big win and works perfect but probably 99%of bb users don't know this and some would like to use such features.

Why can't it be simple and not requiring codes and techy stuff to be done?!

Typing in rset is what was said to do...

I don't get a pop up when typing "rset". It just asks me if I would like to create a new contact. Am I missing something

Maybe try alt-rset.
