The Dark Knight Rises now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook

By Bla1ze on 20 Jun 2013 09:09 pm EDT

Just like Modern Combat 4, many folks wanted The Dark Knight Rises to be available on their BlackBerry PlayBook after hearing it was released for BlackBerry 10 and finally, Gameloft has made it available. I've already blown through playing it on my BlackBerry Z10, so I might just have to grab it for the PlayBook now as well. Suit up, as the Dark Knight himself and take on Bane, who has turned Gotham into his playground:

  • An epic gaming experience - Dozens of missions plus random events will make you feel all the thrills of being a superhero. Deal with hostage situations, bomb squads, jailbreaks and car chases to prove that you’re the true protector of Gotham. A thrilling fighting system that puts you right in the heart of the action thanks to many different moves and cinematic effects.  Collect items hidden within the city to unlock upgrades and new fighting skills for Batman.
  • Play as the Dark Knight - Access Batman’s complete arsenal and learn how to take full advantage of each tool. Use the Grapnel to cross the city or to defeat foes, throw the Batarang to knock out your enemies or to hit a distant button; the possibilities are infinite. When kicks and gadgets are of no use, The Dark Knight relies on his vehicles to get the job done. Drive the Bat-Pod for special vigilante missions or pilot The Bat for fast travel across the city.
  • Experience Gotham like you never have before - Explore the entire city of Gotham and its different districts spread across a huge map and enjoy stunning graphics for total immersion in the dark universe of Batman.

If you're looking to get in on the action, Gameloft has also set The Dark Knight Rises at the $.99 price point which, for a game of this quality is certainly well worth the asking price in my opinion. Hit the link below to get it downloaded from BlackBerry World.

The Dark Knight Rises now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook

I love how I can purchase the same apps and games multiple times! Awesome that I get the joy of purchasing for my Z10, then later once available I can purchase for the playbook all over again. Forget about Android or itunes why would you pass up the chance to only pay once and have apps and games on multiple devices under a single account. Love that blackberry managed to split their own platform in two. I have used blackberry for years but I am really getting to toss it all and go else where unless blackberry fixes their crappy split platform and double charging of apps / games.

Actually it's up to the game developer to decide if they want to charge twice. Many games you only pay once... for example Barbs Tale.

And it's the same on other platform... I don't see where you get that.

Yeah IMHO that is stupid. BlackBerry should set a standard. People shouldn't pay twice for 2 devices that are very similar to program for.

It's gouging.

what the hell are you talking about :-/

Once you buy a game on an android phone or tablet you can download it as many times as you like on separate devices under your account. Its not BlackBerry who adds the extra charges..complain to the developer.

Wow, you didn't miss a single word between your rant on this post and your rant on MC4. We all get it, yes it would be nice to not have to pay again but that's not the nature of the beast with Gameloft. However, I have been able to DL many games and apps to my Z10 for free since I've already purchased them on the Playbook. You win some and you lose some. Shadowgun is the one I'm truly disappointed about. I got the free version when it first came out on the PB but it never got updated so I had to spend $4.99 for the full version. Then, it finally gets released for the Z10 (even though it was the first game they demoed) and I had to spend another $4.99 and it doesn't even work. You win some and you lose some. I am just happy that big name titles are making it to our platform(s) (the fragmentation will be rectified) and people are able to see the power of the devices we love so much. I will gladly pay the $0.99 twice for that kind of exposure. Every time I show off a new game people are amazed and it has certainly helped to convert some isheep.

It is not just. 99 cents, I have over $60.00 in apps and games, so to use all apps or games on both devices if they are available for both, would cost me $120.00. In another year that could be double, $240.00. Or I can switch platforms and be done with the bleed. My kids have ipods, my wife a mini and iPad and if they buy once the app or game is available on all devices. One time, one cost. So ya, it is a major pain that blackberry has created and continue to let happen as they have failed in their promise to standardize the operating system across the platform.

A couple of apps I had previously bought on my PlayBook are there for free on my phone. Surprised me actually. 60 bucks in apps? Whoa!! Big spender! Lmao!

I understand how you feel. I spent around $50-60 for apps and games for my Torch 9800. And of course a lot of those apps and games (i want my final fantasy and red alert games) haven't made it to BB10. And may never will. Which is fine. BB10 is a new platform.

But the "double charge" is an unwelcome use of money. Especially when you spend more than most people do on apps and games.

And I probably spent 20-30 so far on my Z10. Half of that on apps i don't use. Just bought them to support a couple devs that are great and are very helpful in the forums.

I might enjoy this way more on the PlayBook
Had it on the Z, but it got really hot playing it and of course your battery will hate you playing it

My problem too, most games seem to really suck the power out of the Z10.

I was waiting on some friends for about an hour, and and Angry Birds used about 20% of my battery.

Wow, surprised it makes you buy it again, when Gameloft released Six Guns for the PlayBook the license carried over.

Posted via CB10 on my Z10 & loving it!

I too dislike having to purchase the same app game twice. Yeah sometimes they are minor dollar amounts but it is the principle.

I have no qualms about supporting developers...but seriously...I just bought the dark Knight a couple of months ago for my Z10.

Two awesome releases on the same night for mere pennies!

Hope I have enough space on the PB.

Posted via CB10

At least you don't have to wait on BB10 to play these two titles... But it is up to the dev to release separately or as a buy one get both deal.

I'm just hoping that with releases like this developers see that we are here and supporting our platform and we start to see more.

I didn't get it for my Phone because of the heavy use of stotage, but just downloading to my 64GB PlayBook! I'm also confident gaming experience will be better with the bigger screen....

Now all I need is BB10 for the PlayBook!

I've got to say, I really appreciate developers putting out new titles on the PlayBook despite the fact that BlackBerry seems to have turn their back on this wonderful tablet. Certainly, the PlayBook is in dire need of an upgrade as it is 3 years old in it's current format. Nevertheless, I still use it and I appreciate it. BB10 on a PlayBook would have been so fantastic! I'm still dreaming and hoping Thorsten will change his mind!

If it's June 2013 and the PlayBook WiFi came out in April 2011 and PlayBook LTE came out August 2012 ...

how is the PlayBook 3 years old?

Agree with the need for an update though

So, how is the performance on PlayBook? I hope it's not like The Amazing Spiderman whichs PB version looks outright fugly with a draw distance for higher quality textures and polygon models (ever watched cars from a - even small - house's roof? Don't do it!) of a few meters and other very noticeable limitations.

Funny, it's priced for $0.99 instead $1.99.
Just bought and currently downloading it. :D
Already finished the game on my Nexus a couple months a go, but I did this to support and attract more quality developer into BlackBerry.
Come on guys! It is less than your average Starbucks Coffee!

I literally have not touched my PlayBook since acquiring the Z10. Derive conclusions from that as you wish. :)

Yup... I saw this article and I downloaded a couple of apps to my phone.
I never knew that we could download paid apps to our BB10...Thanks guys for comments!!!
