After the keynote this morning I rolled by the BlackBerry booth and stumbled upon the Twitter pod. After some smooth talking (just kidding, no smooth talking required), I was informed that the Official Twitter for BlackBerry client will be rolling out to the public on March 31st. Only a few weeks ago it was rolled out as an invite-only beta, but if you still haven't checked it out you won't have to wait much longer. The beta has been going strong and although the results are mixed, everyone who hasn't yet had a chance to play with RIM's own Twitter client will surely be itching to get a hold of it in just over a week. Thats all we know for now, so keep it locked here and we'll bring you more details if anything pops up.

Awesomeness
goaliegirl Mar 23, 2010 at 2:43 pm
As long as there are significant performance improvements over the beta. :)
Sveninho Mar 23, 2010 at 2:44 pm
I've been waiting for this app for a while now. :D
tehkseven_jon Mar 23, 2010 at 2:44 pm
Awesomesauce :D
GrOoVEy3802 Mar 23, 2010 at 2:45 pm
I don't know, but jsut from those two screenshots, Ubertwitter is a little easier on the eyes to me.
kbeard26 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:21 pm
i agree...twitter blackberry is just one long list of tweets. no separation of color or anything.
archpopoy Mar 23, 2010 at 2:45 pm
I hope it's not the same .28 we've been beta testing for awhile now...
belogical Mar 23, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Thanks RIM!
slinky317 Mar 23, 2010 at 2:45 pm
How is the client? I'd like the ability for DMs and @ replies to be sent to my Messages folder, similar to how the Facebook app works. Does it do this?
Azothyran Mar 23, 2010 at 11:41 pm
Yes, it does indeed to this.
donpoppa Mar 23, 2010 at 2:46 pm
heres a link to the app i got it a few weeks ago

cenloe Mar 23, 2010 at 2:47 pm
I tried the leak a few weeks back and can say that UberTwitter is much, much better.
dwaynewilliams#WN Mar 23, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Can't wait until this comes out.
sgtmilstack Mar 23, 2010 at 2:48 pm
They nailed it.
decypher44 Mar 23, 2010 at 2:48 pm
UT works just great. This is like Page 7 news...
itsdollar Mar 23, 2010 at 2:51 pm
I like the current version except that it's a little slow. I prefer it over UT because I don't tweet as much as a lot of people. I just need basics and the push and this does it.
jlb21 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:36 pm
Uber is readying a version with Push......
backslasher Mar 23, 2010 at 2:52 pm
I need one that will work with 5.0 and let me see the updates and filter in my inbox. Here's to hoping this is what I need.
boman06210 Mar 23, 2010 at 2:52 pm
i love this app! i had used UberTwitter, but it was bad for my memory, i like how it looks, how it works and its great. cant wait for the official!
donpoppa Mar 23, 2010 at 2:54 pm
i use UT more because of the groups
duck383 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:05 pm
cant wait to see the new version using .28 hope the update is better
tibbdor Mar 23, 2010 at 3:14 pm
like the majority i use ubertwitter and id like to see if this is better or worse than ut i guess ill just have to wait and see
DigiColMedia Mar 23, 2010 at 3:15 pm
the native facebook app. It's so slow to load news feeds and status updates. Friends list takes a week to update, and the phone and keyboard becomes slow and unresponsive while all this is going on and will not respond properly until it finishes loading. Anyone else having these problems. Let's hope the twitter app performs a bit better.
Steve1350 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:28 pm
I agree...I like the idea and would love this app, but if it has as much problems as the Facebook app RIM made ill be sticking to the mobile site.
bluemax413 Mar 23, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Been using RIM's Twitter since it leaked. I love it. I was using UT before and I liked it too, this just works better for me. I like how it works with your messages folder. Now if they just throw in a shortcut. I'm sure they'll fix the lists and the profile editing in the next update.
demzzy Mar 23, 2010 at 3:20 pm
they shud put an option to change font size
jlb21 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:39 pm
Well, they did. It's a native RIM app thus you can just go to Options, Screen/Keyboard and change the font size there (of course it effects everything.....)
But I still like Uber over this. And I ran the Beta for about 3 weeks before getting rid of it. I liked the push, but with Uber eventually releasing a push version, this is moot to me.....
michikade Mar 23, 2010 at 3:27 pm
I really like the official client. It doesn't cause the battery and memory drain that some of the 3rd party apps cause and it is exactly what I want in a Twitter client.
I would like push notification on @mentions but I'll take a sped up version of exactly what I've got going if that's what's being released to the public. I like the UI quite a bit.
a.leah86 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:43 pm
This is one thing I'm hoping they'll have added when it becomes available for everyone. It's pretty much the one thing that keeps me from using it as my main client.
I will be really, REALLY disappointed in them if what they roll out on the 31st is exactly the same as the invite-only beta. :(
DJLILM Mar 23, 2010 at 3:32 pm
i hope they fix it to where u can edit your retweets
DJLILM Mar 23, 2010 at 3:32 pm
i hope they fix it to where u can edit your retweets
Afumetsu Mar 23, 2010 at 3:34 pm
at the enddd :)))
it is gonna be a birthday gitf for me :)
lbarnwell Mar 23, 2010 at 3:44 pm
I can't wait. I will be looking for it as soon as it comes out.
BBHN Mar 23, 2010 at 3:47 pm
Any word on what changes will be made to the final release?
teddyp6 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:52 pm
the fix all the problems with the beta. I tried it and it was just so slow compared to UT or SS. *Fingers crossed* that it is a good product.
LuckyBastad Mar 23, 2010 at 3:53 pm
I can't wait to see what they have to offer!
HUTCH66 Mar 23, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I've been using the app since it came out in Beta format and it's not bad at all. I still have Uber installed and toggle between the two but in fairness the Beta version has not given me any problems at all and if it came down to choosing between the two it would be a coin toss. Which leads me to wonder if the RIM app is this promising in Beta form how much better will the finished product be??? I only wish that Social Scope would get it in gear as well!!!
emscapt47 Mar 23, 2010 at 4:35 pm
I miss mine i had the beta and got a tour and it would not let me change over....
coltsbr Mar 23, 2010 at 4:42 pm
Can't wait for it! Been using the test version and seems to work great! :)
youngspider Mar 23, 2010 at 5:06 pm
I just hope it notify's you once your receive an @mention. That is the only thing that is bugging me besides running kind of slow. I just hope they fixed these issues
youngspider Mar 23, 2010 at 5:08 pm
Oh yea, and some how get friend requests! No other app let's you do this.
youngspider Mar 23, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Lol andddd having the ability to set your refresh time to less then 5 minutes! Haha
stoneland Mar 23, 2010 at 5:12 pm
It doesn't even show "from web" or "from Twitter for BlackBerry" or "from Tweetie" like the website does. If UberTwitter can do that, why can't this do it? When the actual Twitter WEBSITE displays it?
Will be staying with UberTwitter.
mookish Mar 23, 2010 at 7:19 pm
of course it does, not in the timeline, but if you click on the tweet, it will say "from web" or whatever, who cares anyway?
stoneland Mar 23, 2010 at 9:50 pm
...which is why I posted my comment. I'd like to see from the timeline without having to click the tweet.
Nadjiramba Mar 23, 2010 at 5:21 pm
I've had the bb twitter app for about a week now and I've had no issues with it
Rolandh Mar 23, 2010 at 5:26 pm
I've been using the leaked Beta since last month and have been very impressed with the UI, but not been impressed with the how stable it is. Really hope that the stableness of the Beta has been improved for the full release.
Roland
skone13 Mar 23, 2010 at 7:15 pm
i downloaded the official twitter for my BB 8520 and i eliminated and downloaded again and eliminate again becaus i prefer ubertwitter but i dont have any invitancion from rim !!!!!
eduardo.objio Mar 23, 2010 at 9:31 pm
I use it and I love it. Been using it since it came out, I used UT before, but didn't really liked it, at least not as much as this one. It seems more functional, although the edit option, on the retweets would be awesome. I like to use it directly from my messages folder, it actually adapts to the bottom of the screen and let's you select the user and send the msg, without you even having to to directly to the app. Yea yea, I like it a lot...
BigJav209 Mar 23, 2010 at 10:01 pm
can't wait to try this out
DrSnooze Mar 23, 2010 at 10:05 pm
anyone know why bb music player doesnt allow to twitt like other app does? like PushLife for example.
vulfadli Mar 24, 2010 at 1:15 am
I had received a mail from UT
support on this feature which they're yet to able crack.
So this TwitBB better got this feature or just forget abt it.
UT hands down is the best twit app for berry to date.
xstex Mar 23, 2010 at 10:16 pm
No lists so I'll stick with ubertwitter.
07thking Mar 24, 2010 at 12:49 am
I can't wait, hope there are serious speed improvements, and I hope the re-tweet feature finally works! One more thing, the ability to load like 2 or 3 pics at once. :)
kullen Mar 24, 2010 at 1:10 am
i think i'll hold onto UT as a backup in case of a something wrong with RIM like those BBM malfunctions that happened a while back
JIVE8900 Mar 24, 2010 at 7:58 am
UT kills my battery
stoneland Mar 24, 2010 at 9:51 am
UT has been great for me...never noticed a huge battery drain.
Pastor Ron Mar 24, 2010 at 8:04 am
I've never "tweeted" so the way this app looks is okay to me. I have no experience with any Twitter app whatsoever. I do wonder, however, if this RIM app will be on par with an I do use - Facebook. If so, there could certainly be room for improvement.
kellidotca Mar 24, 2010 at 2:35 pm
probably the worst kept secret ever.. i've had it since crackberry posted the invite code contest and the leaked download URL appeared in the comment section.. i actually like the twitter client, though it would be handy to have multiple accounts on it.
