Thank you to everyone for all the awesome birthday wishes last week as we celebrated CrackBerry's 7th birthday! No birthday is complete without presents, and we decided to go big this year with 7 fantastic gifts going out to lucky CrackBerry readers. Those prizes included a Sonos Play:1 and Bridge, Phillips Hue starter set, Withings Smart Body Analyzer, Fitbit Flex, Pebble smartwatch, Jaybirds Bluebuds X, and a Nest Learning Thermostat.

Over 7700 of you entered, but sadly we can only have 7 winners this time around. We'll have plenty more contests on the way though, so don't worry.

And the winners are ...

1. Sonos Play:1 and Bridge - calibretto23

2. Phillips Hue Starter Set - Hathac

3. Withings Smart Body Analyzer  - dressic

4. Fitbit Flex - maxriptin

5. Pebble Smartwatch - billy.schiltz

6. Jaybirds Bluebuds X - cleclo21

7. Nest Learning Thermostat - HTATE2

If you see your name listed above, congratulations! We'll be in touch over the next couple of days to get your information and get your prizes mailed out. To everyone else, thank you for being here with us! CrackBerry wouldn't be what it is today without you.

CrackBerry's 7th Birthday Contest Winners!

This way I won`t be upset with myself for preferring the prize I didn't choose. It all works out in the end. Congrats you lucky guys.

These contests are fixed. I have entered so many contests on CB for years and with good responses, yet I have never won as much as a sticker. I don't know what the selection process is: do you pick the most popular members, do you pick the people with tenure, or do you pick the people who know somebody who know somebody? It takes time and thought to enter all your contests (I wrote a perfect college essay for a clock I didn't win), so some transparency on your process would be nice. Otherwise, why bother opening up the contest to the community if you have your winners already picked?

I used my Q10 to create this CrackBerry madness!

I feel your pain but don't think anything crooked is going on. I always see different names selected in these contests and there are thousands upon thousands of members of CrackBerry. There's a very small chance to win most of these. I've been discouraged myself because I have yet to win but, it's rare I win any contests like this anywhere. Random drawings just don't work out most of the time when you have that many people involved. Try not to let it get to you.

+1

Only one contest is different though, the one where you could design your own BlackBerry and a solid pink Z10 won!! This was not cool

They are not fixed, and honestly it's kind of insulting that you would suggest that. For a random comment winner contest (ie one where you aren't required to do something specific besides leave a comment to win) we export all the comments to excel and use random.org to select winners. From there, triple check to be sure the account is valid and the person isn't a spammer. In this contest, since there were 7 specific prizes, we also had to match up the random winners with the prize. So for example, if winner #1 had picked Sonos as their prize, and winner #2 also picked Sonos, we would choose a different winner #2 until it was someone with a prize that hadn't already been drawn and repeat until all prizes were accounted for. Make sense?

For other contests, such as picture contests, videos, etc etc, we use a panel of judges from across Mobile Nations, usually different people from the editorial team and sometimes mods get involved too. Those are all done on a case-by-case basis and the process varies depending on the contest.

I can assure you, we do everything possible to make sure it's as fair as possible for everyone. We had THOUSANDS of entries, and typically do have 1000s of entries for every contest. I'm sorry you haven't won, but there are thousands of other people out there that have been members for many years and have also never won. That's just the way it goes. Lucky for you guys, we have contests all the time and plenty of chances to win cool stuff.

Congratulations.

Just curious CB, with so many comments, how do you guys actually pick which one win?

Do people who comment earlier have better chances?

Just wondering. Thanks.

calibretto23 (winner of the sonos and first winner listed on this page) has a comment on page 23. I'd rather not spend any more time tracking down the others. I'm sure you're as disappointed as I am to not win, but let's not start throwing stones full of untruths...

You went through over 7000 comments? If you like, I can tell you what number comments they were, though I'm not sure why it matters.

My bad, I didn't realize comments were subdivided over pages and just used Ctrl F to find names, just out of curiosity to see what they posted. Oh well, at least no one from the first page won :P

Congratulations crackberry winners enjoy your prizes everyone that won :')

The one and only Iphone wallpaper channel C001F26A0 no hate please I personally own a Q10 and 9900 :-)

Ugh. I never win these things! Not even Tim's "roll up the rim" contests!

Man! I bought a new house a few days ago, my wife is pregnant and my post was about that. Making a cool automation project for my new home would be awesome if I could count with the Nest... Not even that big of a deal post counted =(

Congrats to the winners and Crackberry for 7 cool years and the more to come!

Michelle, have you already contacted the winners? Haven't received any notification yet... :S
