Tvider- Allows You To Tweet Your Pics, Video And Audio

Tvider- Allows You ToTweet Your Pics, Video And Audio

A rather interesting app for Twitter showed up this morning. Tvider, the newest addition to the many new Twitter apps that have been popping up brings a new Twist to your tweets. Rather then being a full blown Twitter client, it's purpose is to assist you in getting your pictures, audio and videos onto Twitter easily from your device or even your desktop, if you should decide to use that offering.

Features Include:

  • Support for 3 types of media – Video, Audio, Pictures.
  • Tools to instantly generate media using webcam and mobile camera.
  • Option to publish a pre-recorded media tweet from your HDD or mobile SD Card memory.
  • Instant Micro Media Tweeting experience designed by limiting the media length to 60s in case of video and audio.
  • Reply and Re-Tweet the media Tweets in your timeline.

Having opened my timeline this morning in the application, I saw many people already using it. But then I realized it wasn't showing me all their tweets. It was only showing me their tweets created by Tvider, which was allowing to me to view, listen to whatever media it was they had posted all from within the app. It's quite a nicely laid out, fast app for getting you media out there from your device. Give it a shot and let us know what you think about it.

Review: amAze GPS for BlackBerry Smartphones
By Ryan Blundell | 26 Jan 2010 07:30 | 49 comments

Getting lost – some call it an adventure, others call it an annoyance. There’s even some who call it something that, due to the presence of younger readers, I’m not allowed to repeat. Whatever the case may be, you eventually (and obviously) want to reach your destination, right? I can think of quite a few times where I’ve been ill-prepared before I venture out to a friend’s new place, an appointment or a social gathering and end up lost. Now there’s no need to slap my wrists folks. That was a long, long time ago, before I has a GPS enabled BlackBerry. Who am I kidding, I still forget from time to time!

I’m always on the lookout for GPS applications that I haven’t tried yet; I’m not completely attached or committed to one currently. If you’re also looking for something new, or are new to GPS yourself, check out the amAze GPS application. With amAze GPS, you’ll have more than just simple navigation; you have access to weather, local searches, multiple map views, just to name a few. amAze offers both free and subscription services, so you can decide what level you want to be at. Let’s see amAze GPS in action, shall we?

Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8530 Review
By David Boyd | 25 Jan 2010 15:28 | 54 comments

The new Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8530, or Curve2 as it has been referred to, launched on the Sprint Network last month. A solid month after the Verizon Curve 8530 launch. There was not much hype with the launch, and numerous people I have talked to weren't too excited about it either. They have the Tour, and don't see why they should be excited about this device.

Well, let me tell you, although the Curve 8530 doesn't have all the luxury of the Tour, it does have quite a few bells and whistles that the Tour doesn't have. In my opinion, those few things, make this the device of choice for me. We'll cover all these changes as you continue reading.

Google Reader iPhone WebApp Works for BlackBerry Smartphones ... Sort Of
By Adam Zeis | 25 Jan 2010 13:02 | 26 comments

Google Reader Google Reader

Its no secret that I'm a huge Google Reader fan, and one of my most wanted apps is Google Reader for BlackBerry. There are many RSS alternatives, but I'm all for an official Google app that syncs feeds and does things only Google can do. Ronen at BerryReview keyed me in to the Google Reader WebApp that is designed to work for Android and iPhones, and it seems to work fairly well on BlackBerry (on my 9700 at least). Not all of the features are alive and well, but it does get the job done. It doesn't seem to sync read/unread feeds, and when trying to view "all feeds" the site hung up and I didn't get a response. They key is bookmarking the www.google.com/reader/i site in your browser and making sure JavaScript is enabled. Obviously not the greatest solution, but it is a step up from the super-slim mobile version of Google Reader. Drop a comment and let us know if the WebApp is working for you. If anyone at Google is reading this - no I'm still not satisfied, please get it together and release an official Reader app for BlackBerry.

More Rumored BIS 3.0 Additions Come To Light
By Bla1ze | 25 Jan 2010 12:48 | 14 comments

More BIS 3.0 Rumors

It wasn't that long ago we heard rumors of BIS 3.0 and 3.1 coming our way soon and bringing with it, a bunch of highly anticipated changes. This time around, we're hearing from BBLeaks that there are a few more additions we can expect as well.

  • Support For OpenOffice Documents - Presentations, Text documents and spreadsheets
  • Support for WMA (Windows Media Audio)

Support for OpenOffice is interesting to see. Not quite sure how much market space OpenOffice has for users but I've used it on occassion and can see why RIM would be adding it. As for WMA I have to question as to why this is even still unsupported? I honestly thought this was taken care of when WMV was added to the media player for videos. Granted, I don't get many WMA attachments but it seems like a lot of you all out there do so that will be a big improvement. Of course, these are just rumors at this time but rumors that make sense given what they bring to the platform.

Fourquare Beta

Who doesn't love to be rewarded for the doing the simplest things? Whether you've won an eating contest or a drinking game, earning some kind of recognition, badge or t-shirt always feels good. Foursquare does just that, for those of you familiar with the social networking service. All you have to do is be at some place, check in and let your friends know where you are and you earn points and badges. While Foursquare has had an application available for iPhone and Android for some time, it has recently become officially available for BlackBerry 8000 and 9000 series devices and I'm here to take an in-depth look at what it has to offer.

Best Buy Letting BlackBerry Tour 9630 Stock Deplete?
By Bla1ze | 25 Jan 2010 09:33 | 58 comments

Best Buy Letting Tour 9630 Stock Deplete?

According to some whispers heard by Boy Genius it seems as though Best Buy is selling off all their BlackBerry Tour 9630 stock and not planning on adding any more to replace the sold out item. Now, while it's pretty much safe to assume the reason for this is due to the fact the Tour2 will be releasing at any point now. It's not however, an automatic assumption that the original BlackBerry Tour is to be discontinued.

Seems quite a few people are jumping on the rumor and taking it to the limit. If anyone thinks the Tour is going to be ripped off he shelves never to see the light of day again, think about all the other devices that are still selling while their successor devices are there right along side of them. You can still buy BlackBerry Pearl 8100's and BlackBerry Curve 8310's not to mention original BlackBerry Storm 9530's (If ever there was a device that should be....err..nevermind). It's simply another variation of BlackBerry that some users will opt to buy into, especially after a price drop.

The RIM Twitter Team Needs Your Opinion!

The RIM Twitter Team Needs Your Opinion!

The good folks over at the Inside BlackBerry Blogs, who also run the BlackBerry Twitter team, are asking users for their opinion on their official Twitter accounts. They need to choose a background for the accounts and that of course is where you all come in. Since, the BlackBerry twitter accounts would be visited by you, they simply need to know which one of the two shown above you all prefer.

The one on the left is that of the @BlackBerry account. The one on the right is that of the @BlackBerryBlog account. Personally, I like the one on the left and I'll be tweeting my vote to them later, but how about you? Tweet them to let them know, or head on over to the Inside BlackBerry blogs and comment. And don't hesitate to let them know any other suggestions you might have as well on how to better their use of Twitter.

If you haven't already, don't forget to drop by our Twitter page at twitter.com/crackberry. Also remember you can hit up the @crackberry Twelper team with any and all BlackBerry questions by sending a Twitter mention to @crackberry.

Feedback Wanted: BerryWeather 2.1 Public Beta Available
By Kevin Michaluk | 23 Jan 2010 18:29 | 180 comments

Berry Weather 2.1

Henrik from BellShare just sent us an email letting us know that BerryWeather 2.1 is now available in Public Beta form and that they're looking for feedback from CrackBerry readers to help put the finishing touches on it. Henrik says this version will be a lot faster and easier on memory than previous versions (good stuff!). The full changelog is as follows:

  • Complete rework of the core. BerryWeather will now fully close when sent to background. The homescreen wallpaper and icon will keep updating.
  • Using new server protocol to improve update speeds and minimze CPU load
  • Changed forecast/advisory update settings. New option 'With Forecats' for advisory will update advisories whenever forecasts are updated, 'Never' will never update advisories
  • Added data+settings backup to memory card
  • Added support for setting the icon size on homescreen walllpaper
  • Added support for blacking out the settings screen (on by default)
  • Added support for selecting whether to show radar/webcam links in internal viewer or browser (allows adding mp3/video/hrml links)
  • Fixed lag on image browser for background image selection
  • Fixed lag issues on BlackBerry Tour (and other devices)
  • Fixed several potential memory leaks
  • Fixed errors on first time built-in map loading
  • Version 2.1 is using a new storage format. This means all data will be lost.
  • We strongly recommend uninstalling any previous version before installing version 2.1
  • You will need a valid BerryWeather 2.x license or this beta will be limited to a 3 day trial.

You can follow the link below to jump over to BellShare's forum for the download links. Feel free to leave feedback there or in the comments of this blog post. If you don't have Berry Weather 2.0 yet, you can purchase 2.0 here to have the 2.x license.

Rogers Releases BlackBerry Curve 8520 In White

Rogers Releases White BlackBerry Curve 8520

I don't think we have seen a device have this many colors since the days of RIM releasing the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Curve 83xx series in a whole rainbow of colors. Rogers stores are getting geared up for the release of the white BlackBerry Curve 8520 as noted by Kyle over at BlackBerryCool.

All together that means Rogers will have the 8520 in three colors. White, Black and Lavender. Pick your color, all three are available for $49.99 each with a 3/yr contract. The white BlackBerry Curve 8520 is not currently available on the website as of yet so if you want one, give your local Rogers location a call and see if they have gotten their stock in. If not, you could always grab a white BlackBerry Bold for $99.99 on a 3/yr.
