* LAST DAY TO ENTER: Ok, the truth is I love this blog post image so any excuse to run it again is fine with me, but we are down to the FINAL HOURS of this contest... so get in for your chance to win 1 of 2 BlackBerry PlayBooks. If you haven't dropped and given us your list of apps you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook, stop what you're doing and do this now!! *

OK, so you don't actually have to drop and give us 20 pushups, but you will have to stop what you're doing, give it some thought, and let us know with a comment to this blog post the top apps/games/services/etc. you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook. The time it takes will be worth the effort, as we'll be picking two lucky winners from among those who drop and give us their must-have app list to win a FREE BlackBerry PlayBook. For this contest we're not talking the small stuff here, but the big hitting apps and services and names you know and use that are out there on other platforms but not yet on the PlayBook. For example, Angry Birds, Skype, Kindle, etc...

  • Prizes: Two brand new BlackBerry PlayBooks are up for grabs for two lucky winners.
  • How To Enter: Leave a comment to this blog post listing the apps/services/games you want to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook in YOUR order of priority. If you can come up with 20, that's awesome. If it's less, that's ok too. Just spill your guts on what apps you REALLY want to be able to install on your PlayBook asap!
  • Contest Details: Contest open worldwide. Deadline is midnight ET on June 30th, 2011.  Please just leave one comment to this post. We'll announce the winners on July 1st, 2011.
For some more insight on where PlayBook apps are at, be sure to check out our PlayBook Apps Initiative thread in the forums. That's it. Now drop what you're doing, and give us 20!!!  Best of luck!

mahsoud

1. No Skype (as much as I would love to, it has become a major pain with all the extra crap-ware it installs on PC) 3rd party Skype app :)

2. Native BBM - I barely use my blackberry as a phone... having just one device on me would be much more mobile

3. Native email :) and I will stop paying carriers money for data

4. Social Feed - great BB app to quickly skim through Facebook/tweeter/bbm statuses as well as news feed

5. BlackBerry Bridge support over WiFi... I live in big house.. walking away from my blackberry disconnects Bluetooth..

6. Screw Angry Birds... there are already a few addicting puzzle games with amazing graphics... keep em coming!!

7. Banking apps... As cool as websites are, its easier to check your balance with an app

8. Mail Tracking app (canada post did a good one for blackBerry)

9. Shazam

10. DropBox might be cool but, SugarSync is better

11. VMware or at least remote desktop - yop I want XP and linux on playbook

12. Some kind of simple development environment

13. Torrent client

14. SMS client (even if it send only) not that hard to make... freaking bridge has no support for sms and my iphone lover friends are well iphone lovers...

15. Color LED.. if that LED ever lights up apart from Booting Indication

16. BlackBerry Protect Playbook edition

17 Flixter - i like cinema :)

18 BlackBerry Traffic.. let it be ugly still :)

19. TuneIn radio - shout out to westwood!

20. Video streaming app ... HULU, NETFLIX, at least CBC and CTV channels ...please?

@Others:

- Winrar/zip already there for 99Cents
- pixlr.com in stead of photoshop
- accuweather is beatiful

@RIM:

You'll have to forgive me if some of these already exist or have a built in version that works the same, being from the UK i can't get my filthy mits on a fondle-slab of RIM goodness until tomorrow :(

> MSN Messenger - Still a microsoft slave i'm afraid
> Skype - Video calls, makes sense
> Google Maps - Handy to have, shouldn't be too difficult to scale up the mobile version?
> Some sort of RealVNC client for PC (bonus points if it can connect to the bridged phone to "stream" google maps and gps data)
> Minecraft - I'm addicted, i need it to happen!
> VLC Media Player - I know the built in player is good, but i like some of the features you get with VLC, remote streaming etc
> Winamp - for the same reason (internet radio!)
> Angry Birds - Only reason i'd buy an iPad
> Spotify - Website works fine i guess (although not got a playbook yet so not tried it) - but i'd use an app :)
> Outlook / other full email client, for exchange email etc - to save bridging through phone
> Kindle - Ebooks are nice and it would save rebuying
> Photoshop or at least a light version
> Premiere or again a basic version for simple edits on the go
> Ventrilo/Teamspeak/Mumble - Would be nice to have access to voice comms through the pad (turn the screen into one big PTT button and keep it on your chair arm!)

And pretty much out of ideas, but that's my list :)

Not going to mention apps that are sure to be coming with updates so here we go.

1.Flight simulator eg. X Plane for mac
2.Dragon Speak (or other speech to text software)
3.RedLaser or Barcode Scanner you can sync with Docs to Go and Database apps (Scanlife is horrible)
4.Instrumentational input software that can work with Sibelius or Finale Note Pad
5.A stylus handwriting to text add on for word processors, great for students in lectures.
6.Omnigraffle a better brainstorming/wireframing app then Blackberry's equivalent
7.Moonlight Mahjong and other Classics boardgame apps with multiplayer, wi-fi or bluetooth
8.Autodesk, An AutoCAD suite or equivalent
9.Medical First Aid Assistant app only for basic treamtment stuff. 911 emergency and GPS info would be forwarded if medical seversity requires it or problems arise through treatment given.
10.Wi-fi Router App to take the Playbook's Blackberry Bridge security concept and use it in a home network setting. (possible power drainer?)
11.MicDroid, Autotune mixer for laughs
12.Game platform emulators eg. NDS4droid, PSX4driod, gameboid
13.Starwalk - 5 Stars Astronomy Guide ; or better equivalent
14.Ruler (it's an app for iPhone, iPad)
15.Grocery Gadget or Grocery IQ
16.NHL/NBA/NFL/FIFA 11
17.Apps for Bezel motion input shortcuts/divider (create/modify/specialize bezel motion shortcuts)
18.Universal Remote control app for TV's & other electronics eg. Samsung Remote for iPhone, iPad.
19.aBTC, torrent client
20.Karaoke Anywhere for iPhone, iPad, iTouch, better then the one for blackberry.

I hope to win one! Please and Thank you!

I hope I win. I trialed a PlayBook from work. My 2-year old boy loved it, and misses it!!

Anyhoo, here are my 20 most-wanted apps:

• Asphalt 6 (best game on Android by far)
• Cineplex Mobile (local movie listings at your fingertips)
• Deal or No Deal (so much fun on iPhone)
• Deer Hunter 3D (has potential for outstanding visuals)
• Flixter (quick source for latest DVD’s and movies with Rotten Tomatoes ratings)
• FML (with a password so my kids can’t read it, lol)
• GasBuddy (use your PB’s GPS to save you at the pump)
• Global TV (catch up on your favorite shows)
• ICanHazCheezburger (LOL cats in full screen? Are you kidding me?)
• NHL GameCenter (one of the best lesser known apps on handhelds)
• NHL 2K Sports (if they could get the controls down pat, would kick butt)
• OurGroceries (my wife loves the real-time progress)
• Paper Toss (super time-killer)
• Pinball (could you imagine in vertical screen?)
• Slice It! (addicting, worth it for the theme song alone)
• Speedtest.net (for techno geeks like us)
• Super Baby GO! Animals (for my aforementioned 2-year old)
• The Sims 3 (my teenage niece would eat this for breakfast)
• Tiger Woods PGA Tour (best golf game, period.)
• TSN Mobile (live streaming would be like Snickers…very satisfying!)

k here we go:
1. Native email client
2. remote desktop client
3. angry birds (im not even that into it, but if anything, it will give pb the consumer edge)
4. skype
5. kindle
6. dropbox
7. quake or doom, whichever they have been previewing
8. the TAT apps they have shown us, but not released (i love that media browser and weather app)
9. TuneIn Radio (my favorite radio app for bb)
10. words with friends (again mostly for consumer edge)
11. google earth app, like on iphone
12. photoshop app (would be killer, esp if they make it very powerful)
13. get hulu working, either with an app, or simply allowing users to watch content online
14. BBM native client of course
15. AIR 2.6 or 2.7 support, for those of us who are trying to make an air app, but of course its a bit outdated
16. along with number 15, Adobe Flash 10.* the latest version
17. video editor (as to compete with apples iMovie on the ipad, but also to give it more of a computing status, rather than a mobile toy)
18. WinSCP or anyother ssh app
19. OneNote from the microsoft office suite, it is a gem
20. last of all, some really really powerful games, if only to show of the shear power of the pb and to make it stand out for consumers. I want this thing to sell more than anything!

Thanks so much Kevin, ive been dyin to get a playbook since i heard it existed, which was right here on crackberry during the live blogging thing u guys had going. ive been glued to crackberry ever since i got my first blackberry, the 8100 pearl, which still holds a place in my heart. Now sporting a torch, im dyin to get my hands on the "perfect pair": Bold Touch and a Playbook. I could die right then and there with those two things in my arms and id be the happiest ************ in the world. Thanks so much again, and i hope i can one day have the playbook in my arms...

Here's my take:

- Native Email App
- Google Earth
- Kindle
- Native e-reader (similar to iBooks – but BB specific)
- WhatsApp
- ScoreMobile
- TSN Mobile
- TuneIn Radio
- OverDrive Media
- GlobalTV (video)
- CityTV (video)
- CBC (video)
- Photoshop Express
- ESRI ArcGIS
- Skype
- PS3 Media Server
- VLC (just to stick it to Apple for not allowing this on the iPhone)
- Flixter
- IMDB
- MLS.ca (real estate finder)
- Skype

- Official Twitter App (not a clone and one that doesn't use the browser – although I admit it is formatted quite well)

The final app I would like to see is one based on Plex. A media viewing app that allows you to download plugins to directly access video content for major networks (e.g., Global, CBC, NBC). Individual video content apps are great, but it would be nice to have it all in one place.

If my BlackBerry had those two things, I would drop my iPod dependency immediately and donate the iPod.
I've been waiting a LONG time for those two applications to come out!

bhgreene

I'm sure if I spent enough time, I could come up with more, but right off the top of my head, I need the folowing, to make my 32GB Playbook the truly valuable tool it should be.
1) GoToAssist support agent (to initiate agent support sessions)
2) Citrix Reciever (for XENApp access)
3) Browser with Silverlight support (for MS managed service sites)
4) an eBook app that can import existing books (.mobi and .pdf with placeholders like mobireader)
5) Native LinkedIN app
6) Native Twitter app
7) something to handle handwritten notes
8) Access to MS Office 365 (although that may be Silverlight again)
9) Netflix and/or Hulu, for those non-billable times

I'm sure there are many others, but that's it for now.
