* LAST DAY TO ENTER: Ok, the truth is I love this blog post image so any excuse to run it again is fine with me, but we are down to the FINAL HOURS of this contest... so get in for your chance to win 1 of 2 BlackBerry PlayBooks. If you haven't dropped and given us your list of apps you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook, stop what you're doing and do this now!! *

OK, so you don't actually have to drop and give us 20 pushups, but you will have to stop what you're doing, give it some thought, and let us know with a comment to this blog post the top apps/games/services/etc. you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook. The time it takes will be worth the effort, as we'll be picking two lucky winners from among those who drop and give us their must-have app list to win a FREE BlackBerry PlayBook. For this contest we're not talking the small stuff here, but the big hitting apps and services and names you know and use that are out there on other platforms but not yet on the PlayBook. For example, Angry Birds, Skype, Kindle, etc...

  • Prizes: Two brand new BlackBerry PlayBooks are up for grabs for two lucky winners.
  • How To Enter: Leave a comment to this blog post listing the apps/services/games you want to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook in YOUR order of priority. If you can come up with 20, that's awesome. If it's less, that's ok too. Just spill your guts on what apps you REALLY want to be able to install on your PlayBook asap!
  • Contest Details: Contest open worldwide. Deadline is midnight ET on June 30th, 2011.  Please just leave one comment to this post. We'll announce the winners on July 1st, 2011.
For some more insight on where PlayBook apps are at, be sure to check out our PlayBook Apps Initiative thread in the forums. That's it. Now drop what you're doing, and give us 20!!!  Best of luck!

Really, once I got past #10 I didn't really care anymore. My first 10 are a must for me. I have the PlayBook and love it, but if my top 10 don't eventually come out, I will have a hard time supporting the PlayBook in the long run.

Also, thanks for another great contest! You guys really are the best!

Edit: Let me add Angry Birds at #21 because I know others consider this a must have app. I've played through it on so many other devices that I won't buy it when it does come out. However, I know there are plenty of people that won't be happy until it does come to the PlayBook.

Very simply:
#1: Skype, hands down
#2: Remote Desktop.

we have kodo, but kindle needs to be accessible too.

If you had those 2, and just those 2, sales would skyrocket.

I don't know which of the apps I'm going to list might already be available for the PlayBook because I don't have a PlayBook, but here ya go anyway.

1.Air Control - Fun, addicting, simple yet challenging game
2. Andchat - IRC app, any irc app will do, I just happen to know this one by name.
3. Angry Birds - No brainer, really.
4. Armored Stike - Another fun and simple game, available on Android.
5. Chess - Any chess game with a challenging AI would do. Nothing that follows a set list of moves.
6. Cryptogram - Game with (hopefully) difficult to solve cryptograms.
7. CueBrain - Flashcard program, very helpful for studying.
8.. Dungeon Hunter 2 - Gameloft might have poor business practices and customer service, but their games are second to none.
9.. Geared - Simple to learn, hard to master puzzle game.
10. Gun Bros - Frantic arcade shooter.
11. Kongregate Arcade - Free, touch based flash games all listed through one app.
12. Minisquadron - Fun side scrolling airplane game, would look great on such a huge screen.
13. Pandora - Everyone should know by now what Pandora does...
14. Robo Defense - Any well thought out tower defense game would do.
15. Tango - Cross platform video chat app, works better than Skype for me most of the time. Might be my current device that is the issue though. Not sure.
16. Tapatalk - I'm sure everyone knows this forum app. Want it for the sole purpose of not having to deal with the junk layouts of some forums I use.
17. ThinkFree Office - Extremely well rounded alternative to Docs2Go etc.
18. TuneIn Radio- Listen to your favorite radio station from anywhere, anytime.
19. Words With Friends - What can I say? I'm addicted.
20. X Construction - Fun, if flawed, physics based railroad construction game for Android.

You'll notice most of those are games or fun oriented; that's because the PlayBook, and Blackberry in general, already has the business side of things locked down.

Hey guys, interesting contest. Too bad RIM probably doesn't read these pages much :P. Here are my 20, though some aren't apps so much as functionality/features. This list is coming from the perspective of a 75% business user working in the creative/marketing industry.

1. Better support for the "full" web (or selection of different browser user agents like on the Bold 9000). Too many sites still don't support the PlayBook or default to mobile.
2. All the typical PIM apps (email, calendar, etc. which we know are coming)
3. Full support for Bluetooth audio output (A2DP)
4. Skype (yeah, right...)
5. DropBox or similar
6. Firefox Home or XMarks
7. Browser password storage (to save all my web passwords) / app to do same
8. Google Maps/Earth a-la-iPad
9. Angry Birds (we know it's coming)
10. MKV Player (saves having to re-encode/change container)
11. Disaster Alert (from PDC)
12. Magazine apps!
13. Adobe document viewer (Photoshop PSD, Illustrator AI, etc.)
14. WYSIWYG HTML/code editor with built in FTP/site/server settings
15. Support for USB hard/thumb drives (RIM, read-only support is fine! I'll buy 32/64GB already!)
16. OneNote or similar for easy and integrated note-taking, clipping, etc.
17. Remote Windows Desktop app, such as LogMeIn (first to offer it gets my money)
18. Video editing app (cut and save)
19. Flipboard
20. Native Google AdWords application. Though this will honestly never happen.

JDukeOSBB

After a few business trips trying to use my PB instead of my phone or laptop, here's my list of apps/missing functions where the phone/laptop had to come out:

I only have that as my top priority because the BlackBerry app is so utterly woeful and crashes constantly. A stable version on the PlayBook would be great, even if it's just the Android port.

Some games that you can play with a group when connected to an HD TV. For example, a version of 'spot the difference' with a grid on it, so you can shout out co-ordinates when you spot a difference and somebody can touch the controller. Perhaps Who Wants To Be A Millionaire would work quite well as a fullscreen game to be played with friends on an HD TV.

This is a business oriented tablet and of course I would want business apps but add in a few fun apps would be awesome as well.
1) Skype - For my many conference calls
2) File system app that can access network drives
3) The standard Blackberry email, contacts, calendar, and notes apps
4) Microsoft's OneNote or the complete Office line
5) Google Maps app because Bing just isn't good enough
6) Kindle app for access to all my books
7) Amazon MP3 music app or the Google Music app
8) A weather app that can display the weather on the status dock without opening the app itself.
9) Blackberry Travel app since it's so useful on my Blackberry. And the ability for it to cross sync.
10) Blackberry Traffic app since it will make good use of the GPS.
11) Wordpress app for my blog
12) Logmein app to access my home and office computers
13) Bloomberg or Thompson app to access my stocks
14) Quickbooks for my finances
15) Beejive IM for chatting
16) Real Player app or video codec that would support real videos
17) SlingBox app for live tv
18) An app or function that can take a picture of a business card and auto-fill in the contact
19) BrickBreaker because that just represents Blackberry!!
20) Angry Birds since we all love it

Making a huge effort to not just list everything that is top on the Blackberry App list or the IPad app list or the Android app list that the Playbook doesn't have, but I think a few slipped in, just cause they're necessary. Here goes:

1. Skype: video/voice messaging NOT tied to a single platform
2. Netflix: They need to sell their multimedia capabilities
3. Evernote: Note taking. They have a small screen that makes it easier to type with your thumbs. They should capitalize on this. My playbook is going to replace all other note taking tools that I use.
4. BBM: I know this is coming, but it's a must-have.
5. Native Social Super-Apps (read Twitter): Something like twitter should be integrated into the OS. Everything is social these days.
6. Picasa/Flickr/Youtube integration: Photo/Video/Media clloud syncing of media. I take a photo, video, or voice recording, it should be instantly accessible accross all my devices.
7. Kindle: Almost forgot kindle...Another pretty much must-have.
8. BB Traffic: A version of it that takes advantage of the large screen and adds mapping and voice directions. This will also convince me to buy more accessories to mount properly with my car.
9. Grooveshark: Preferably this is integrated with the built in media player, but any way it comes is great. This, combined with a proper GPS nav app we have a kick-ass car-puter! Also included would be something like Pandora, but I'm in Canada, so I don't care about them.
10. Dropbox/SugarSync: Again with the cloud. It's the big thing these days. I need to be able to access my stuff from my other devices.
11. Blackberry Protect, SmrtGuard, Hidden: Included all three, because who doesn't like choices. Blackberry has always had "security" as a major feature. Need apps to reinforce that. It would be cool to be able to do what tha
12. Trillian: Am I at 20 apps yet? I use this on all my other devices. The latest version of Trillian has this awesome feature that allows you to continue conversations while switching devices. This is my next device. I see myself using this a lot.
13. XBMC: The device should be powerful enough to run as a basic media centre, go the logical next step.
14. Upvise or other shopping app: My wife and I use Upvise, to sync shopping lists. Cloud Sync for this one is an absolute must. I need to be able to enter stuff into my kitchen computer and have it show up on my mobile devices.
15. Recipe/app: Also should be cloud capable to sync with my kitchen computer. Even if this was a plugin for Upvise, I'd be perfectly content. I'd also accept a decent app that combined/replaced 13. & 14.
16. Home automation app: I want the playbook to be the comand centre for my house. Log into view cameras, turn on/off lights, control what media is playing, etc...
17. Doodling app (Like PenUltimate on the Ipad): Something to make napkin sketches for my next brilliant idea that makes me a ka-jazillionaire. Evernote integration would be great.
18. Photoshop Express: We already like Adobe right? I know there is some other photo eddint apps, but... Photoshop still is awsome.
19. Input Director or Synergy: Since the Playbook can handle keyboard & mouse... When I'm at my desk, it would be awesome if I could just link it in with synergy or ID.
20. A whole suite of stupid apps that simulate a guitar or drum or banjo or didgeridoo or other musical instrument or other silly thing that really serves no other usefull purpose then to look really cool and generate buzz about what we can do on our Playbooks: It sucks that numbers of Apps means anything, but it does. It means that developers are willing to invest time to write crap, because there is enough people seeing their crap, so they buy their real apps.

Hope this earns me a playbook!

3) Native Calendar
4) BBM
5) Skype
6) Superstore

7) An Official RIM/BlackBerry App (always giving us the latest news on whats going on at RIM, RIM sharing some of their ideas, giving us more information, trying to integrate their customers with themselves)

8) Bing App (including Bing Maps) (i was skeptical at first, when they announced bing on future smartphones, but if it'll have nice features and if theres a good integration with QNX, it'd be quite awesome)

9) BlackBerry Protect
10) SugarSync
11) Evernote

12) 1-2 Games (something epic and oldschool like Zelda, Prince of Persia or maybe Soul Calibu or Tekken)

13) Kindle (I have to admit, i dont have much experience with eBooks, it'd have to really impress me, because right now i can only think that i prefer a real book over reading on a screen, because we've kinda got enough screens in our life, Computers/TV/Smartphones etc, but maybe i'd enjoy it, so I'd like to give it a try)

14) TuneIn Radio
15) Amazon Shop // Amazon MP3 Shop
16) Capture It

17)Apps like Everylock / BlackBook (in case you want to feel a little like a CIA-Agent ^^) (maybe with additional social network features, for example it lets you hide specific Facebook-Contacts, or Twitter-accounts you're following)

18) Sports App (something like scoremobile, but bigger, with more sports, more articles, pictures and a live-ticker)

19) TV App (an app which lets you watch the official TV channels in your country, of course there had to be some sort of subscription, or you had to buy an extra device which makes this possible - maybe even some sort of integration for websites like letmewatchthis.com // sidereel.com // tvdex.org // tv.com etc, for articles, reviews or in case you missed your favorite show or something like that)

20) VLC Player with the ability to buy/rent dvd's online, download them right on ur PlayBook and watch them, since the free space is limited, u can delete them afterwards, but you'll keep them on ur online account and can redownload/rewatch them anytime)

I'd like to see more solid business apps, this was supposed to be a tablet marketed towards business use, so far from the posts listed here it seems skype, kindle, and games rate the highest. It seems the majority of owners so far are consumer based, no wonder there is so much complaining and comparing with the Ipad. Give the business professionals the tools and RIM may actually be able to pull this tablet out of the consumer niche and into the professional arena that it's trying to market it in.

Mr.Softberry

ok so here's the 20 apps i'd really love to see on the playbook:
#1: team viewer. I love team viewer; it's free and easy to use. Been the app I've been waiting for.
#2: netflix: of curse this app will come out sooner or later... hopes
#3: doodle jump: best time killing app I have on my ipod touch :D
#4: microsoft live messenger: I use it so much... I'm kind of sad that it's not available. Really want it!
#5: iCall/Voip: let's you make free calls. I think there should be apps like this on he app world.
#6: skype: must-have
#7: native email app: ik it's coming but still... should've been on the playbook since the release date.
#8: A good recent PC game: I know it's possible to make and easy! ex: quake 3 should be available. not only a demo.
#9: native bbm: cmon' playbook is also a blackberry device! It deserves native bbm!
#10: shazam: love the app. should really be available to playbook since it is for blackberry phones!
I hope all of those apps will come out!
