* LAST DAY TO ENTER: Ok, the truth is I love this blog post image so any excuse to run it again is fine with me, but we are down to the FINAL HOURS of this contest... so get in for your chance to win 1 of 2 BlackBerry PlayBooks. If you haven't dropped and given us your list of apps you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook, stop what you're doing and do this now!! *

OK, so you don't actually have to drop and give us 20 pushups, but you will have to stop what you're doing, give it some thought, and let us know with a comment to this blog post the top apps/games/services/etc. you'd like to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook. The time it takes will be worth the effort, as we'll be picking two lucky winners from among those who drop and give us their must-have app list to win a FREE BlackBerry PlayBook. For this contest we're not talking the small stuff here, but the big hitting apps and services and names you know and use that are out there on other platforms but not yet on the PlayBook. For example, Angry Birds, Skype, Kindle, etc...

  • Prizes: Two brand new BlackBerry PlayBooks are up for grabs for two lucky winners.
  • How To Enter: Leave a comment to this blog post listing the apps/services/games you want to see come to the BlackBerry PlayBook in YOUR order of priority. If you can come up with 20, that's awesome. If it's less, that's ok too. Just spill your guts on what apps you REALLY want to be able to install on your PlayBook asap!
  • Contest Details: Contest open worldwide. Deadline is midnight ET on June 30th, 2011.  Please just leave one comment to this post. We'll announce the winners on July 1st, 2011.
For some more insight on where PlayBook apps are at, be sure to check out our PlayBook Apps Initiative thread in the forums. That's it. Now drop what you're doing, and give us 20!!!  Best of luck!

I agree Skype but not buying is just stupid.

Skype

Kindle, although I've moved on to Kobo and seems to work fine, bye bye Amazon
Finally SKYPE SKYPE SKYPE SKYPE (RIM write it yourselves and give it to SKYPE for free you'll be doing yourselves a favor in terms of playbook sales.)

If I had Skype I could seriously ditch my laptop while traveling.

Since I'm guessing there isn't an app of the half naked hottie doing pushups, I'd like to see the following: Skype, Netflix, Blockbuster, LinkedIn, Opera, Docs to Go Premium, a wireless printing app, and Google Maps on the Playbook.

Flyerssignguy

The reason this question is tough to answer is we need to know what will become available with the Android Player release.

PostMortem

That can be one of your requested apps. It's going to be an App Player anyway.

Still, think NATIVE for added security, stability and customization.

Hi @Kings,

Alex from RIM here. I see you and several others have mentioned they’d like to see BBM come to the PlayBook. In case you didn’t know, a recent update has made BBM available to PlayBook users with a BlackBerry smartphone through BlackBerry Bridge. The cool thing about that is that once the handheld is disconnected, any secure data will be removed from the PlayBook ensuring nothing is accidentally left behind.

Meanwhile, check out this post of the top five PlayBook apps so far, as voted by users: http://bbry.lv/lKGL7f

Cheers,
Alex, RIM Social Media Team

PostMortem

Hey, thanks for that and for taking the time!
Not to sound like a jerk, but I think he and the rest of us are referring to a Native Standalone solution that doesn't require a BlackBerry phone and works through WiFi or WiFi & Bridge Data.

Looking forward to the upgrades to come. Once they get these apps out that we're requesting, RIM is going to have to work fast because demand is going to go way up. I for one am waiting for them before I get another one for my wife. May even get my mom one too.

CyberSam#CB

Alex -

Thats great, except for us poor saps who currently use ATT. any suggestions for getting the bridge app working for a ATT Torch.

Thanks

1. DropBox

BlueBox is great, but I'd like to see an official app with better preview management.

2. Spotify

This would be the ultimate entertainment application for PlayBook.

3. Flight Control

Really well suited to tablets and would be a great addition to App World.

4. TweetDeck

The familiar layout would work nicely on PlayBook

5. Angry Birds

I'd like to see an "official" release of this addictive game

6. Scrabble

This has been a huge success on iPad. Hopefully EA will port to PlayBook

7. Rightmove

Honestly, I don't want to enter because I already own a PlayBook but I just want an app where I can purchase & download movies to the PlayBook and watch them. I'm not talking about streaming, I want to be able to buy a movie and watch it without connecting to anything, so I can actually be entertained by my "powerful, Portable, PROFESSIONAL-grade PlayBook. Come on RIM, if you expect me to use this thing in business it needs to be compelling to go into my carry on bag.

Hi @ognat42,

Alex from RIM here. Thanks for these. Just wanted to clarify that Poynt is currently available for the PlayBook (http://bbry.lv/lVGWjl), and video chat comes built-in to the BlackBerry Tablet OS.

Also, we’re adding new apps every day. Native email and other PIM functionality (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and MemoPad) are coming soon via a BlackBerry Tablet OS update, and we’ve announced that Angry Birds is coming too.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Alex, RIM Social Media Team

Apps that would make my PlayBook perfect and iPad's best rival:

1. An Official Twitter App!
2. 3rd Party Video Chat apps such as Tango or QIK or Skype
3. Native Email and BBM can stay the same doesn't matter.
4. Plants Vs. Zombies(good game)
5. All of the Messengers such as AIM, MSN, and Yahoo.
6. ESPN App.
7. Better browser because the current one keeps closing on me every time theres a lot tabs open!
8. NetFlix app is a must to make the HDMI useful!
9. Kindle even though Kobo books is OK in that department.
10. Pandora
11. Angry Birds since its popular
12. Last but NOT LEAST a TURN BY TURN TALKING GPS!!!! so I can have my PlayBook in my car all day when I travel.

With those 12 apps my PlayBook would be perfect and would not need anything else!! Please Kevin make it possible at least 8 out of the 12!! lol

Hi,
I'd really enjoy having the following app/games

- Team Viewer, for remote desktop
- Google Map with GPS
- SSH Client such as putty
- Shazam
- Native Email
- Native Calendar
- Skype
- MSN Live Messenger
- Virtual DJ - iRemote controller for PB
- Video Editing Software
- MSOffice suite/OpenOffice
- Blackberry Protect
- Kijiji App
- eBay app
- File Manager
- Photoshop
- WinRAR
- Word auto-correction just like on the blackberry phone
- Age of empire -> would be a nice game to have with a touch screen
- Doodlejump

If all these games/app would be available, I think I wouldn't need my PC no more at all. Although any of those apps would be a great addon to the playbook.

Thanks
