CrackBerry.com Podcast: Episode 004"You are now listening to CrackBerry.com, home of the #1 Podcast for BlackBerry Users (& Abusers!), with your hosts, the Addict and the Expert, Kevin Michaluk & Craig Johnston!"

Due to Easter dinner festivities, instead of recording during our regularly-planned Sunday afternoon hours Craig and I hit the podcast Skype-waves early Saturday morning and recorded Episode 004 (talk about dedication... I had two hours of sleep!).

In addition to covering the BlackBerry news and answering questions from our Podcast hotline callers, we spend some time talking about the T-Mobile BlackBerry 8320 Curve and the awesomeness that is unlimited calling via UMA.

Once the morning coffees kick in, we cover a lot of good info during this episode (we even get into 3G BlackBerry talk!) and somehow manage to turn it into our longest podcast to date. Give it a listen after the jump! If you enjoy the show, be sure to subscribe to our iTunes feed and let us know what you think!

Every Canadian carrier has 3G. Telus/Bell have EVDO and have had it for a while. Rogers has an HSDPA network (not sure of the full extent of their network though).

I did my digging into this post podcast once I caught up on sleep. Had never really paid attention to it as it's not something I was getting to use on my BlackBerry. My bad :-)

I am a CrackBerry devotee and T-Mobile user. I am almost to the end of CB Podcast #4 and I appreciate the "thumbs up" for T-Mobile UMA. I love this feature and as long as TM keeps this feature exclusive in the U.S. I will definitely keep using them among their great customer service and I can't wait until they upgrade to 3G.

Definitely the most valuable Podcast on my iPod!

what's funny is I made a blog post on that a long ways back. Just forgot. Burned off too many brain cells I guess...too much CrackBerry Abuse! :-)

I am having trouble downloading this and the other podcast. I have tried via my blackberry device and my computer desktop. I keep getting a page error. Does this happen to anyone.

By: Kevin Michaluk | Date: Tue, 03/25/2008 - 08:05

Shouldn't be having any problems....

a) You can't download via your BlackBerry. The file is much too big.

b) You need to save to your computer's desktop, then transfer over to your BlackBerry's media card from there. Don't just click on the "Download MP3 Directly" link. Right Mouse Click on it, then use the Save Target As or Save Link As option. That should let you choose where you want to save it (your desktop) and then start the download.

I've tested it on a few different computers here...Mac and Windows, and no problems.

Why do you guys have no love for Sprint? I have a sprint 8830 and you guy only ever talk about Verizon when you talk about CDMA. And when you guys where talking network speeds (3g 3.5g) you didnt mention Sprint Wimax plans. That will be a 4g network.

I was kinda looking forward to that when you guys where talking speeds. Was wondering what Craig's opinion of it was.

I don't think we love/lack love for any specific carrier....

we'll definitely pick up on the Wimax in our next podcast. early morning recording time and we're a bit foggy. :-)

are you listening on the webpage player? or did you download the mp3 to your desktop or try the itunes feed?

if you're having trouble on the blog post player, try doing one of the other listening options. will check into what's causing the hang up on the inline player.

After listening to this (really long) podcast I just wanted to point out that in experience the Sprint 8830 does offer free modem use as long as you have the BlackBerry data plan. So you had a caller mention using MobiShark with his Sprint BB8830, but he wouldn't need to. Just an FYI.

Davep42, that was me who called. I have the recently lowered Sprint BB package for $30. Are you sure that includes tethered modem? It has unlimited data and text messages but does that mean tethered too? tx dan

Keep up the great work.

i just want to point out that we do have 3G in canada on the 4 major carriers witch his Bell, Telus (cdma ev-do 3G) and
Rogers,Fido (Gsm Hsdpa,Hspa 3.5G). Rogers is the most advance gsm carrier in north america... we can do both voice and data at the same time,we even have (2way) video calling not like att's video share witch his (1way)...
they (Rogers)are already testing the new (HSPA)protocol that can boost speed up to 7.2 mpbs. Telus will be using EV-DO REV A
pretty soon as you can see on their website they have rev a capable handset.
