The first day of the BlackBerry Developer Conference had us going from early morning till late at night, but just before the evening reception kicked off we had a chance to sit down for an interiew with Chris Smith from Research in Motion. Chris' title is Sr. Director, BlackBerry Development Platform, which means a WHOLE BUNCH of major software responsibilities fall on his plate. For all of our faithful CrackBerry readers out there, THIS IS THE PODCAST YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO. It has been a busy few weeks in the BlackBerry World, and somehow between all of the stuff going on in the blogs we fell of our podcast routine (yet again). The BlackBerry Storm2 went on sale today, so we took the event as a reason to fire up Skype and get a CrackBerry podcast recorded. With the BlackBerry Developer Conference coming up soon, the month of November should be busy with podcasts and more than make up for the dry spell. Enjoy the show! Podcast time! I've been out in San Diego this week for CTIA I.T. & Wireless 2009, and while the show has been fairly quiet we've still had a pretty good week in the BlackBerry World. The release of BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 was enough to keep all of us addicts happy (plus we know the Storm 2 and Bold 9700 announcements and releases are just around the corner) and we even had a little fun (which is still undergoing) with our BBM 5.0 Stress Test.

That said, there was still plenty to talk about in this special edition podcast. Our pal Mickey Papillon from the Cell Phone Junkie hosted the show (he's a Pro), and Dieter and I joined him to go over the highights of the event. Regular CrackBerry Podcast listeners and all smartphone junkies will want to listen to this one. Enjoy the show! Oh yeah, and if the BB alert noise in the first few minutes bugs you, stick with it... we slience it after we "discuss" it.

Wow. We did it. We recorded another podcast. After going weekly for a few episodes, we fell off for a stretch, but today over lunch we got on Skype and recorded a CrackBerry Podcast. And this wasn't just any podcast... but a very special edition. It took 42 episodes, but today we had a female voice on the show! Big welcome and thanks to Jessica who joined Craig, Bla1ze, Adam and myself. We had a full house of a show, and covered a lot of ground. We caught up on device talk, including some of my hands-on thoughts of the 9550, we worked through some topics tweeted in by listeners, and covered other BlackBerry news of the moment. Well, I'm not really sure that this is the worst CrackBerry Podcast ever, but if not it has to be pretty close. I think we must have jinxed ourselves when we called Episode 040 the Best CrackBerry Podcast Ever. We're a little more disorganized than usual (hard to believe I know!) and there wasn't a whole lot new to talk about since our last podcast was recorded only six days earlier. Our umm.. professionalism even went down the drain a little bit with this episode, so I'll toss up a language warning on this one (we'll be more angelic on episode 042). All self-deprecation aside, we still had some fun as we attempted to work our way through questions tweeted in by listeners and poked fun at Bla1ze for his one week Podcast supension. The other good news is that by hitting rock bottom we spawned some good ideas - I have a feeling our next podcast in two weeks time might be the bestest yet! Try and enjoy the show! :)

Well, I'm not really sure that this is the best CrackBerry Podcast ever, but with Adam jumping ship on this show in order to spend some time with his family (son's birthday!) I figured I'd rip him a bit by giving Episode 040 an illustrious title like that.

Regardless, we had some fun in this episode as Craig, Bla1ze and I add some fuel to the always hot BlackBerry rumor fire (I swear I'm sober on this podcast but listening to it you may have your doubts). After diving into Storm 2 chat, where I throw out my theory of what's going on with the next-gen Storm's display for all to hear (one word - piezo), we cover the tale of two Bold 9700s (different batteries and processors between the onyx and driftwood?) and even drop a new codename... Arrow anybody? From there we work our way through a whole bunch of tweets sent in and cover pretty much everything BlackBerry. It's another long-winded, slightly disfunctional CrackBerry Podcast at its finest. Would it be a CrackBerry podcast if it wasn't? We hope you enjoy! I'm on vacation at the moment, but that didn't stop Craig, Adam and Bla1ze from getting a CrackBerry Podcast recorded. They jumped on the line Wednesday evening to discuss all things BlackBerry. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, so this description will stay short and sweet... but based on the last show they did without me I'm sure it's great! A little late, but better than never. Craig and I jumped on Skype last night and were joined by special guest Marcus Watkins, developer of Podtrapper (which lets you download and listen to podcasts on your BlackBerry) as we chatted about all things CrackBerry-related. As always, we went way too long, went off topic, I talked too much (went on a few long-winded raves and rants) but at the end of the day covered a lot of stuff. Marcus walked us through his story of developing Podtrapper, including the goods and the bads. We got excited for some things, depressed about other things, tossed out a few of the new unconfirmed "codenames" apparently floating around out there (can you say dakota?)... by the end it was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster! You ca listen below. Hopefully you'll enjoy the show. If not, well.. haha.. at least it's free :)

With the Palm Pre and iPhone 3Gs now on the market, and the BlackBerry Tour rolling out soon (plus Nokia and HTC have some cool stuff happening too by way of the N97 and Hero), we ditched this week's CrackBerry podcast in favor of a Smartphone Experts Round Table. We recorded live on the air last night, but if you didn't tune in you can catch the recording below as Dieter, Rene, Matt and I talk all things smartphone.

As I type this post I'm staring out a hotel window in Miami Beach looking at the ocean, so you might say I've been a little off my BlackBerry game this week. BUT that didn't stop the three Crackateers -- Craig, Adam and Bla1ze -- from stepping up to record a CrackBerry Podcast for all our listeners out there. I just listened to the show and it's a good one! You'll definitely want to tune in to hear the latest in the world of BlackBerry as well as some discussion on the Palm Pre and iPhone 3G S. It's funny... this is the first episode I haven't been on and I think it's also the first time I've ever actually gone back and listened to a full CB cast (which still went over an hour without me there - so you can't only blame me for the length of these things lol). Informative and fun... you can listen in below... I give it two CrackBerry thumbs up!  

Back in February we called Episode 031 CrackBerry A.D.D. because we bounced all over the place. I'm pretty sure that name serves Episode 036 pretty well too. With some technical glitches, no real script or agenda, and lots happening as we recorded in real time, this show is definitely a messy one. BUT...it's a good one for all the podcast listeners out there. Adam, Craig and I work through the news and rumors and leaks of the past few weeks since WES. We had some reports that our podcast player was slowing down some web browsers, so we put it "after the break". Click on through to take a listen!

Wowza. After a month long hiatus (how does that happen?!) from our regularly scheduled CrackBerry podcast, Craig and I were joined yesterday by Bla1ze for what was planned to be a quick show. But somehow, between all the catch-up and discussion on the 9630, Gemini, App World, my mom's new BlackBerry Bold (her first cell phone at the age of 60!) and going through community emails this turned into a MARATHON of a show. You'll want to download Episode 35 and listen to it in a few parts.

BlackBerry Gemini New Info: On the topic of the Gemini, we talked about a lot of BIG details that haven't hit the blogosphere yet, like its optical trackball (no moving parts!), rubberized side body, dedicated media player buttons and more. If you want to save yourself some listening, but want those details, you can find most of them in this forum post I made last week.

Next Podcasts Coming at you Live on Location from WES 2009: I'm flying out to Florida on Thursday and next week will be attending WES 2009.
