Kristen Stewart's Pretty Pink BlackBerry

Stewart

While Kristen Stewart's character in Twilight has a Nokia 7360, the actress herself was spotted with a baby pink BlackBerry Curve 8330 on a recent outing with Joan Jett.

Kristen frequents the Apple Store so it's bit of a surprise that she's not an intense iPhone user (thankfully).  Then again, her new look seems to be the biggest surprise of all. I think it's awesome - Rock the grunge and BlackBerry Kristen!

Tasty - BlackBerry Storm Cake
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 22 Jun 2009 10:05 by Kevin Michaluk | 24 comments

BlackBerry Storm Birthday Cake

How do you judge the popularity of a smartphone brand? Some would say unit sales or media mentions are appropriate metrics to follow, but I'd argue it's the number of birthday cakes made in honor of said brand that is the true determining factor. And on the birthday cake front, BlackBerry is doing just fine.

Following up on our BlackBerry birthday cake round-ups Part I and Part II, this past weekend CrackBerry member righthero was treated to an awesome BlackBerry Storm cake made for him by his equally awesome wife! You can find another picture after the jump and several more in the forums. Looks tasty too! Happy Birthday righthero!

Paris Sold Out To Sony Ericsson?!?

Paris Hilton Sells Out On Her BlackBerry Love

Oh my! Longtime BlackBerry user Paris Hilton has sold out on her love for BlackBerry. For which device you may be asking? 5 devices actually. While in Dubai to promote the Middle Eastern version of her show "My New BFF", which was sponsored by Sony Ericsson who gave the Hilton heiress not one, but 5 brand new devices to use to which Paris was quoted speaking about the phones given to her:

“One is even like a watch with a phone on it and it’s so cool,” she said. “So I’m switching my BlackBerry to Sony Ericcson today. Sorry BlackBerry, I’m now a Sony Ericcson user and very excited.”

So there ya have it folks, all you need to buy Paris' love is to give her 5 new Sony Ericsson phones and sponsor the filming of her show. Now all joking aside, anyone wanna take a guess as to how long it will be before the next image of her is posted using a BlackBerry? Once you go Crack, you can't go back to a dumbphone... it just doesn't work like that.

Lindsay Lohan: BlackBerry Bold Poster Girl
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 16 Jun 2009 20:17 by Kevin Michaluk | 72 comments

Lindsay Lohan Tweets a Her Bold

Oh Lindsay... you always find a way to make it back into our CrackBerry Sightings blog, and each time you show up wearing less and less. You went from this attention getting outfit to a bikini at the beach and now you've taken it up a notch and lost the top. Awesome. Though I'm afraid the next BlackBerry sighting image we have of you won't be postable without a disclaimer :-)

Seriously, I just came across this post at from the mtv newsroom. It turns out Lohan herself posted this photo on her personal twitter a couple nights ago. She was bored... the picture is from an old Fornarina fashion shoot. Nice photo, and it leaves no doubt as to her smartphone of choice. As for her BlackBerry twitter client... she's still tweeting it old school on TwitterBerry.

BlackBerry Tour In Esquire Photoshoot?!?

BlackBerry Tour In Photoshoot?!?

* Update from Kevin: This is fun. Scroll down (after the story break) and we have recreated the towel shot with a Curve 8900 and Tour 9630 side by side. It's definitely a Curve 8900 in the photo above (the angle at which the bottom of the phone slopes in is a bit longer/sharper and the keyboard frets are missing - that is a spaced out keyboard) but it's easy to see how it could be confused, especially when the photo is shrunk down and the keyboards are a bit more difficult to distinguish and the towel is covering up a bit of the corner of the phone. *

* Update: D'oh!!! Early morning blogging with no cup of coffee and these things can happen... UPON CLOSER inspection, that's actually a BlackBerry Curve 8900 in the photo. Though from that angle, it's fairly easy to confuse both devices. I guess it's wishful thinking... if you really, really want a 9630 then maybe that's what you see. We'll take a comparison photo and post it here shortly so we can all be educated. *

Who Wouldn't Want to Live Here?
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 28 May 2009 08:49 by Kevin Michaluk | 23 comments

BlackBerry Circle

No, BlackBerry Circle isn't located in Waterloo (RIM's World Headquarters) but rather beautiful Colchester, Vermont. But seriously, who wouldn't want to live on a street that shares the name of their favorite smartphone?

The only thing I can think of that could be better than this would be living on CrackBerry Street (or Drive or Avenue... I'm not picky!). So yeah... if anybody out there wants to rename a street CrackBerry, let me know  when the official unveiling is and I'll be there! Thanks to AJ for sending this in.

Paris Hilton Has A Serious “Butter Fingers†Problem
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 26 May 2009 13:39 by cate | 24 comments

Paris

And no, I'm not talking about the candy bar. Paris Hilton was frantically searching for her BlackBerry Thursday night at this week's Festival de Cannes film convention hosted in south France.

"It's the worst thing that could have happened. It has all my contacts in it and the last thing I want is for it to fall into the wrong hands", she told the Daily Mail.

The "wrong hands" could definitely do damage considering that Paris' phone contained hundreds of celebrity numbers that include Eminem, Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan. I'm sure we'd all show some grace if this was her first BlackBerry mishap, but alas, it's not. In 2005, her phonebook was "hacked" and all the numbers in her address book were published to the Internet. SmrtGuard anyone?

Perhaps Paris needs to treat her BlackBerry like her own child. But you know, even then I don't think anything would change.

Lady Gaga Needs a BlackBerry 9630

Lady Gaga Needs a BlackBerry 9630

It's been a while since we've run an actual celebrity in one of our CrackBerry Sightings posts, but when I saw this picture of Lady Gaga walking out of Dolce & Gabbana I thought it would be good for a few comments from the guys and gals in the audience.

As much as I love the BlackBerry 8830, I can't help but think Lady Gaga needs a slightly more sleek, updated BlackBerry to go with those shades, dress and shoes. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess she's a Verizon customer, so really that leaves only one option here... she needs a BlackBerry 9630! All those waiting for the BlackBerry 9630 too, say I.

BlackBerry Storm Helps You Lose Weight?!
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 22 Apr 2009 09:31 by Kevin Michaluk | 28 comments

Our pal Brian sent us in the link to this latest Weight Watchers Online commercial and I just couldn't help but post... it gives some solid air time to the BlackBerry Storm and there's just something CrackBerry-esque about that cute orange Hungry Monster!

The Storm was a good choice for the commercial - having used pretty much every BlackBerry I'd argue that Storm users burn more calories in a day thanks to the SurePress technology as compared to traditional BBs. Maybe that's an untapped marketing angle for RIM? ;-)

BlackBerry Niagara Spotted On Its Own Street
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 19 Apr 2009 17:12 by Kevin Michaluk | 56 comments

BlackBerry Niagara Spotted on the Street!

The BlackBerry 9630 hasn't even hit the market yet, but streets are already being named after the device that grew up with the codename Niagara. I mean really, why else would there be a street named Niagara if not in honor of RIM's much-anticipated, next-generation, full physical qwerty CDMA BlackBerry? It is a marvel of the world after all. :-)

App World Logo Gets Inked!!
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 09 Apr 2009 12:50 by Kevin Michaluk | 78 comments

BlackBerry App World Logo Tattoo

There's no denying that the new BlackBerry logo RIM has been using with App World is pretty hot. I've even been rocking it as a wallpaper on my Curve 8900. But a wallpaper is one thing... running out to get a tattoo of it puts you into a whole other plane of CrackBerry existence.

And that's exactly what CrackBerry member ivanmor has done. This isn't Ivan's first tech tattoo (you can click the photo above for more images), but because it's BlackBerry I'll argue that it's definitely his best. Now that's hardcore.

Get Squeaky Clean with BlackBerry Soap!
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 13 Mar 2009 09:04 by Kevin Michaluk | 8 comments

BlackBerry Soap!

Too funny. We've already seen lots of BlackBerry birthday cakes and ice sculptures, so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to see next evolution of CrackBerry crackiness.... BlackBerry soap!

What better way to express your BlackBerry Addiction than to lather up and get squeaky clean with a BlackBerry. You can pick it up for $4.99 here .

Though I gotta say, my blogger-instinct tells me this is just some old inventory lieing around that resurfaced to the blogoshere... otherwise I'd expect to see BlackBerry soap be in the shape of a Bold or Curve 8900 or Storm and not a 7100. Anybody reading this still rocking a 7100? I'd love to know!

Lance Armstrong Now Trekking With a Curve 8900!!
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 21 Feb 2009 08:31 by Kevin Michaluk | 24 comments

Lance Armstrong taking a pic with his BlackBerry Storm

* Update 2: Definitely an 8900. It's weird that in the picture above that you can't see end of the main nav buttons (the screen looks long, like a Storm), but looking at this other picture on twitpic the chrome is definitely 8900. Plus the fact he's tapping in the middle of the screen and he took a landscape pic, screams 8900. Who would have thought this blog post would turn out to be so much fun :) *

* Update: Some astute commenters noticed that Lance is using the Storm with Gloves on. Hrrmm... at first glance that looked like a Storm to me... but most likely a Curve 8900... *

Just a few weeks back we posted a picture here of Lance Armstrong holding his BlackBerry Bold out in front of him for what looked like the perfect BlackBerry product shot.

Popping up on lizkreutz's twitpic today is another picture of Lance with his BlackBerry, but it looks like he has now switched things up and is using a Verizon BlackBerry Storm! What's Lance taking a picture of? The "Ride this one like YOU stole it" decal on his new TT bike which he of course posted on twitpic as well (view it here).

I wonder what the scoop is with Lance's change to the Storm... is this a straight trade-up or does he use the Storm on US soil (Verizon coverage!) and swap SIMs in his Bold when he travels overseas? Either way, it's good to see him changing things up - true CrackBerry Addict! Big thanks to TAG for sending this in!

LeBron James is Gold BlackBerry Bold User
Posted in CrackBerry Sightings on 17 Feb 2009 01:15 by Kevin Michaluk | 30 comments

Lebron James

After watching LeBron James say on television this weekend at the NBA Skills Competition that he's putting his name in for the Dunk event next year, I was pretty pumped to see in the CrackBerry forums yesterday that not only is LeBron a BlackBerry User, but a gold BlackBerry user at that! Looking at the photos (there's another one after the jump), I'm pretty sure this a ColorWare creation in "GoldRush" stylings, but if somebody knows otherwise be sure to post in the comments.

Speaking of Gold Bolds, I've actually been emailing back and forth over the past couple months with the folks at Computer Choppers to check in on their progress on putting out a 24k gold-plated BlackBerry Bold product offering. Unfortunately, it seems using gold metalized parts on the latest generation of BlackBerry smartphones hasn't turned out all that well, so don't expect to see too many celebs rock'n actual 24k Bolds or Curve 8900s, that is unless somebody feels like ponying up for the casting expense to put out solid gold parts. You reading this Lebron? If you don't want a gold-colored BlackBerry Bold, a solid gold one is just a big check away (think of it is as a way to get the economy kick started again with some consumer spending). Maybe Computer Choppers will have an easier time gold plating the Storm... less buttons to cast! :)

BlackBerry Curve 8900 Ice Sculpture

Following up on last week's BlackBerry Cake Roundup, after the break we have THREE MORE BlackBerry Cakes for all you sweet tooth CrackBerry Addicts to drool over. Before we get to the Icing on the Cake, take a gander at the BlackBerry Curve 8900 ice sculpture above that's on display at Ottawa's Winterlude Festival. Screw building snowmen...
