Photo Booth Pro

Photo Booth Pro turns your BlackBerry smartphone into a photo booth that you can stick in your pocket! The Photo Booth, you can find them at almost every mall and they’re used for almost any occasion. You may have seen people acting like absolute goofs in the booth (you’ve done it too, admit it). Others may use them to take more memorable, or serious, shots like for headshots or forms of ID. To be honest, I’m not sure what type of use makes me laugh more. They’re all entertaining, although slightly inconvenient due to location limitations. Now before you go out and start pricing a photo booth for your house, I should point you in the direction of a BlackBerry smartphone app called Photo Booth Pro.

With this app, you can take four consecutive pictures and then choose to apply up to 8 different effects to them. Alternatively, you can also select from some of your finest shots already stored in your internal or external memory. Hey, if you can connect to a Bluetooth printer, you can set up shop, as a portable photo booth, anywhere! Let’s see if Photo Booth Pro can keep up with your potentially lucrative summer job.

Get set - Get up! for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Whenever I have an early start I have to set an alarm to wake me up, as I’m sure quite a lot of you do. I am also one for snoozing in the morning once I hear the alarm go off. Usually, I’ll snooze for about half an hour before I know I really should wiggle my toes, shake my legs and get up before I end up being late. Normally I’ll just use my BlackBerry alarm to do this but now I use Get set, Get up! for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Join me after the break to see how I rise and shine in the morning to this app.

Learn Chinese for the BlackBerry PlayBook

I’ve always been fascinated with certain languages, more so no that I’m older. Learning in school was boring and trying learn as an adult is a bit challenging, though I don’t think it needs to be. In the past I’ve picked up some of those books with CDs, those can be quite fun as takes you away from the boring, mundane business of learning grammar rules that you get taught in schools. Looking back at how I learned to understand and speak my parents native language (tagalog), I never had to write things down or learn grammar rules. Simply by listening to them have conversations or even speak to me, I would slowly pick up what certain words meant. At the beginning I didn’t necessarily know what the whole sentence meant word for word but I did understand what they were telling me. And I eventually learnt how to answer them back in tagalog as opposed to english. That takes me to the Learn series from S4BB. A few months ago I took a look at Learn French, this time I’ve been learning Chinese. Keep reading to take a closer look at the app.

"This app is very easy to use, quick and simple. Get it!" - GavisGod1 App World review

Snipper

Have you heard of Snipper before? The company states that it’s personal mobile video broadcasting. It’s a cross platform solution that pushes videos to and from your BlackBerry smartphone; which makes for lag free viewing awesomeness. At Mobile World Congress, Snipper was featured at the BlackBerry Showcase Theatre and is putting a twist on how you can reach out to the world with your videos. Youtube has its public videos, unlisted videos and private videos (except for other youtube users). What Snipper does is essentially create channels that can be directed at different groups of contacts. Think of Google + and its circles- you decide which individuals can enjoy which videos. You can still have private and public channels- it’s much easier than entering in specific contacts each time you upload a private video. Dear old Aunt Ethel may not want to see what actually happened in Vegas. Or maybe she does. Regardless, that’s just a part of what Snipper can allow you to do, so have a read for more information...

PicShop

I love how easy it is to take pictures with the PlayBook. Sure it’s not as portable as using a BlackBerry smartphone, but there’s just something about using the screen as a ginormous view finder that appeals to me. It’s also quickly become a source of entertainment for our son, whether we like it or not. I can’t count how many times I’ve picked up my PlayBook to find the album full of images. Some are blurry as heck, but others have some potential, all it needs is a little tweaking here and there. What I would normally do is have the images make their way to my laptop, where I can whip up some magic in Photoshop. Out of the box, there aren’t too many options when it comes to editing those photos. Now with an application like PicShop, I can perform these alterations using the PlayBook with ease. I really hope that this will eliminate the need to switch between devices in order to edit my images.
