"With a price tag of $2,000, the exclusive Porsche Design P'9981 Smartphone from BlackBerry is a Bold 9900 in an expensive new skin. It is not a better BlackBerry than the 9900, but if you have the cash and want to stand out, it is definitely the BlackBerry for you."

Design: A collaboration between Porsche Design and BlackBerry. You'll either love the look or hate it. Tends to get a better reaction in real life than from photos. Feel: The unibody stainless steel frame gives the P'9981 some heft and a sturdy feel that makes it seem more like a luxury item than just another electronic device. 1 Million out of 10 :)
Performance: It's a Bold 9900 through and through. The 1.2 GHz processor delivers snappy performance and the keyboard is great for messaging. Quality: As you would expect from a phone that costs $2,000, the quality of the hardware is top notch. RIM didn't hold back on the use of rich materials.

Apple iPad 2 vs. BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0

A 10 Round Head to Head Smack Down comparing Apple's iPad 2 w/ iOS 5 against Research In Motion's BlackBerry PlayBook on it's newly updated 2.0 operating system software

Two months ago it might have seen crazy to speak of the iPad 2 and the BlackBerry Playbook in the same sentence. The iPad 2 is the grand-daddy of the tablet world and the Playbook was received like the poor step child. No native email, contacts or calendar - only useable with a BlackBerry Smartphone - the list was lengthy and the comparison of the two tablets was not a fair fight.

Enter Playbook 2.0. Now we are back to square one and the battle is on. Much is new in Playbook 2.0 and much is improved from when the Playbook first hit the shelves last April.

One factor that we are not looking at for the "competition" but users should think about is price. Currently, a 16GB iPad 2 will set you back $499.00 and a comparable PlayBook 2.0 can be had for $199.00.

So, now its time for the ultimate battle - it is David vs. Goliath - Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Mohammed Ali. There will be 10 rounds in this battle. We will use the 10 point must system - meaning that the winner of each round gets 10 points and the loser gets a lower number. We will look at both devices in detail and put them to the test. Will it be a knockout? Will it be a draw? You might be surprised to see the results....read on.

BlackBerry Bold 9790 Review

Design: Not as sexy as the high-end Bold 9900, but Bold 9700/9780 fans will love the 9790's evolution to a thinner, sleeker form factor that now includes a touchscreen.  Feel: A small phone by 2011 standards, you'll forget you're carrying the 9790 in your pocket. In use, the 9790 feels like an extension of the hand - perfect. 9 out of 10
Performance: Enough MHz to power through BlackBerry 7 tasks all day long with battery life left to spare come bedtime. The way it should be! Quality:  The lower end 9790 lacks some of the luxurious materials and finishing details of the 9900, but nothing feels cheap about it. It's a well made phone.

"The BlackBerry Bold 9790 improves upon the uber-popular Bold 9700/9780, adding a touchscreen to the mix along with a more polished hardware design and BlackBerry 7 operating system."

BlackBerry Curve 9380 Review

Design: The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is a perfect full touchscreen companion to the full qwerty Curve 9360. They're clearly brother and sister. Feel: Small but not *too* small, the Curve 9380 feels great in the hand and is an extremely pocketable phone thanks to its slim design. 7 out of 10
Performance: With 800MHz compared to the Torch 9860's 1.2GHz, the 9380 still delivers a smooth BlackBerry 7 touch experience.  Quality: For what RIM considers to be their entry level touchscreen phone, the Curve 9380 doesn't feel cheap. A lot of love went into the design.

"The Curve 9380 is considered an entry level BlackBerry and does make some concessions in achieving a price tag that is extremely affordable, but overall delivers solid performance and will be a success in markets where carrier subsidy is not available."

BlackBerry Curve 9360 Review

"The best BlackBerry Curve experience to date was found on the Curve 8900, a device that combined luxury and ruggedness. Since then, this feeling has been absent from the Curve line. The BlackBerry Curve 9360 is a triumphant return to that."

The thin, light-weight design of this Torch, with its curvaceous lines; beautiful screen resolution; and excellent web browser make this into an excellent media-consumption device. BBM, email, and a redesigned virtual keyboard make it worthy of the name BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is the CDMA counterpart to the BlackBerry Torch 9860. This full touchscreen device sports a super sleek design but lacks the full QWERTY keyboard that RIM is known for. While we were excited about the Torch 9850 when we first saw it, after playing around for the last few days we do have an extensive live of pros and cons for this one. While hardcore BlackBerry users will still want to stick to devices with a physical keyboard, those fans of touchscreen's or those new to BlackBerry may want to take out the 9850 for a spin. BlackBerry PlayBook Review

CrackBerry.com's Review of the BlackBerry PlayBook - the first BlackBerry tablet from Research In Motion!

BlackBerry PlayBook Review

Officially announced in September of last year, the long-awaited BlackBerry PlayBook was released on April 19th 2011, with a starting price of $499. It featured the all-new BlackBerry Tablet OS, the PlayBook sports a 7" display that makes this tablet more portable for everyday use than Apple's iPad. With the addition of the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 Software released on February 21, 2012 -- the PlayBook gained native email, calendar and contacts, the ability to run Android applications and much more.

With solid hardware specs, an operating system that utilizes a gesture-based user interface to deliver true multitasking capabilities and a web browser that supports Adobe Flash, on paper the PlayBook appears to have the raw talent to be a contender. Heck, it even won the first ever Tablet World Series before it was ever released. But pre-release hype is one thing and real-world performance is another. RIM hopes to leverage their success in smartphones and emerge as a major competitor in the tablet game when it steps up to the plate. Does the PlayBook have what it takes to crank out a homerun? ** Check Out CrackBerry's Updated Official BlackBerry PlayBook Review **

A Hands-On Pre-Release Review of the BlackBerry PlayBook

BlackBerry PlayBook

I've FINALLY gone hands-on with the BlackBerry PlayBook and thus it's time for me to report back with my initial review and impressions of Research In Motion's first tablet device featuring the all-new QNX-based BlackBerry Tablet OS. The time I had to prep this post to go live for the embargo was tight and we'll have even more opportunities throughout CES to play with the PlayBook, so I'm going to keep this initial review as concise as possible and we'll likely add to it over the days ahead. Oh, and as for those questions of pricing and release date, those are still TBA, though RIM is still sticking to their Q1 release which means you'll be able to buy a PlayBook before the end of March.

This isn't just another new BlackBerry we're talking about here... the PlayBook is ALL new for RIM. Suffice to say, the way too long review will be coming once we log some real hours on it. But in the meantime, we still have a lot to say (hint: it's pretty awesome!!), so start reading!

BlackBerry Bold 9780 Review

CrackBerry.com's Review of the newest BlackBerry Bold, the 9780, which puts the latest BlackBerry 6 software onto improved Bold 9700 hardware

BlackBerry Bold 9780 Review

Following up on our Unboxing and First Impressions, I have been using the BlackBerry Bold 9780 as my main smartphone for the past few weeks. And you know what that means... I now have a lot to say on the newest Bold from Research In Motion. Most of it is positive, afterall, the Bold 9700 was already an awesome device so one would only expect its successor to be even awesomer. But it's not all positive. Suprising to me, I actually found myself having some mixed feelings towards the BlackBerry 6 experience on the touchscreen-less Bold 9780. There have even been a few times when I wished I could downgrade the 9780 to run on OS 5.0 again (I know it sounds crazy, but I'm just being honest - you'll have to read the full review to find out why).

The existence of the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has also created a couple of burning questions for existing and new BlackBerry users out there. I've been getting literally the same two questions via twitter (@crackberrykevin) daily since the device was announced. Is it worth upgrading my BlackBerry Bold 9700 to the Bold 9780? Should I get the Torch or the Bold 9780?

It's December and the holidays are almost here, so grab yourself an eggnog, kick back and keep reading and I'll answer these questions and unload all the nitty gritty details on the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

AT&T BlackBerry Pearl 3G Review

BlackBerry Pearl 3G Review

While I was never a Pearl user in the past, something about the Pearl 3G intrigued me since we first saw it pop on the radar back at WES 2009. Many users got their start with a Pearl and either stuck with it or moved on to a full QWERTY device. I never had the pleasure of rocking one myself so I've been a bit anxious to get my hands on a Pearl 3G and put it through my day. While I claimed on our WES bloggers reactions video that purple was the way to go, I really am impartial for the most part when it comes to color. My AT&T Pearl 3G is the sweet faded red and that's fine by me. Keep reading for my thoughts on the BlackBerry Pearl 3G from AT&T.
