Skitrix: The Word Game 

Pepper.pk, the developer that brought you Ninja Jump and Fruit Ninja Bash, is at it again with another great game for BlackBerry smartphones. This time they've come up with a completely new twist on the classic word game. Take the playing field of Scrabble and mix it with the falling blocks of Tetris and you get Skitrix, a difficult word game (also available on other platforms) that is sure to keep all you word fanatics on your toes. Keep reading for more and details on how to win a copy of your own.

Here's what you need to know. Just like the classic video game, blocks of letters will fall from above and it's your job to place them in the field below. As you're given a preview of what's to come, you need to think fast to strategically place each letter before it's locked into place. Points are awarded based on the length of each word which must be between 3-7 letters and are formed either vertically or horizontally. Blocks drop using the button on the display, although I would prefer if I could just swipe down on my touchpad. Other than that gameplay is smooth.

Unfortunately, that's the easy part. When you've amassed a blockade of all consonants, vowels, or a heap of unrecognizable letters that don't form anything that's when the panic starts to set in. You try and maneuver the falling tiles to create words but they've already accumulated to the point of no return. That's what makes this game a real treat on your BlackBerry. It brings the intensity of Tetris to a simple word game all in a nice easy to use package. Although if you're really stuck, keep your eyes peeled for the Red and Blue Pills which erases any row or column, and the Bomb which clears the row and the column where it lands.

If you've been on the lookout for a word game that stands out from all the rest then be sure to check this out. It's unique blend of two popular puzzle games is sure to keep you busy for quite some time. It may be hard, but Skitrix is a great way to give your brain a workout.
