Contest: BlackBerry Storm 2 Coming in June?

There's lots of buzz around the interwebs today that the BlackBerry Storm 2 could be hitting store shelves much sooner than most of us would think, with rumors suggesting a release as early as before the end of this month or sometime in June. As much as I would LOVE for this to pan out to be true, my CrackBerry gut says we'll all have to wait a little longer than that to get our hands on a store-purchased model.

Our best info right now slates pre-production of the next generation Storm (which RIM internally refers to by the codename BlackBerry "Odin") to begin early next month and from there an official release is usually a couple months out (VZW's technical acceptance process usually takes 2-3 weeks on a device, so even if they approved it off the first pre-production run we'd still be looking at July). And this is Verizon were talking about here... the pickiest of the carriers... who also have the BlackBerry Tour 9630 to roll out still and after a less-than-stellar Storm 1 experience won't want to put out Storm 2 until it's ready. And they won't want to stack the 9630/Storm 2 releases too close to eachother. At this point, I'd rate a May release as impossible, a June launch as potentially possible but improbable, a July release as targeted/more realistic but tight (think end of the month, fingers crossed), an August launch as more likely but if you throw in the usual BlackBerry/Verizon delays then I wouldn't even be suprised to see it launch later than that. As always in the world of BlackBerry, all will be known with time.

Storm 2 Before the End of June Contest: Let's have some fun here! I'd love to see a June launch happen. I really would. I just don't think it will. So to that end, we'll take a gamble and run one helluva contest.... LEAVE a comment to this blog post. For every day that the BlackBerry Storm 2 is on sale in the month of June 2009 we'll give one away to a CrackBerry member. So if the Storm 2 is available for purchase on June 1st, we'll give away 30 Storm 2's over the course of the month. If it's available on June 15th, we'll give away 16. If it's available on the 30th, we'll give away one. And if it doesn't go up for sale in June at all, we'll give away none. Should make for an interesting month, huh? Currently enjoying my first blackberry, an 8330 Curve. Was tempted by the Storm 1, but the price and the negative reviews I'd seen on it put me off.

After playing with a friend's iPhone, i'd looooove a touchscreen BB.

Winning a Storm 2 would make my day!

this is my first time to comment but i have to say that i got the storm when it came out even though people said it had problems beacause i figured there would be upgrades and with time dany problems would be fixed but if there is a storm 2 they arent gonna bother to fix the original. i love my storm but thats not fair. with that said i would really like a storm 2!!

Even though I never win anything on this site, I still love it!! I would really love to win the Storm2. I love mine, and even though it has some bugs I still love it. 99% of the phones on the market right now have bugs, so that's why I"ll never give up and throw in the towel to replace my Storm with another Blackberry.

I actually like my 9530 but am waiting for the next firmware release which is supposed to make it work like everyone thought it should. However, if I get a Storm 2 I won't be upset...

Just a few random thoughts...

It all started several months ago. It was early summer here in New England, and I found myself bereft of that certain thrill in my life. I was just going through the motions. Life had become routine. The days were was overall pleasant; mild temperatures, sunny skies, but my ennui continued.
One day things changed. It started when the blue skies became gray and dark, and I heard it; the rumblings of Thunder. It started slow, far off in the distance, but I could tell that something was coming.
It started as whispers, then it became more distinct. As the days became weeks, it intensified. What started off as thunder became a perfect Storm.
As with most weather patterns, no one could tell when that Storm would come our way. Anticipation like I hadn’t felt since I was a child began to well up. I looked everywhere to find out more; details, how strong it would be, where and when it would hit.
The summer became the fall, and then close to the beginning of the holidays, it happened. I embraced the beauty and grace of what I had spent six months waiting for. The thrill was finally back in my life; a new love was in my hands.
Oh, her lines, her shape, the feeling of intelligent design that I knew would become my constant companion.
Oh, it was a little rough at first; most Storms can be that way. Unpredictable, stubborn, even downright cantankerous. But with time, love, (and a lot of tweaking), my baby and I became one. December came with an early gift of direction for my Storm which made her even more alluring.
Nothing was too good for my new love; a sturdy case, screen protectors, bedside dock, car charger. Anything she wanted, I got for her. A fresh look for her face from wallpapers of incomparable beauty, all of which pale in comparison to her.
Does she need attention and care? Of course. No love affair survives without it. I no longer need to submit her to the humiliation of a battery pull; a more gracious way has been found. I gently clean her face so she is always shining. She reminds me when I need to take care of life events, and I give her the rest when she requires it. She wakes me in the morning, and I ensure that she has whatever she needs to stay happy in our relationship.
Today, we are inseparable. My life is now more complete than I ever thought it could be. If she happens to be a few feet away when I use my headset, I always keep her in visual range, lest we become separated.
Once, I was a typical male; always looking for something better; my eye roving whenever something new would appear on the horizon. No longer. As long as there is Stormy weather, my life is complete.

I have had every blackberry T-Mobile has to offer and i keep going back and forth between full qwerty or suretype. None of those devices will keep me from switching to VZW when the king of blackberry's comes out. What could be better then having both keypads in one.......... Crackberry picking up the tab for my ultimate device. :) Bring on JUNE 1!

Would I like a Storm 2? Let me count the ways..... but only if the soft keyboard is as good as a real qwerty. I still think a Storm is an iPhone type device, and not meant for real business users. I'm pretty happy with my 8350i right now. But, a free Storm 2? I could be convinced.

yeah, the storm was my first blackberry, and i loved the experience of having a new generation phone even with the bugs. the fact that i became addicted like so many others to the site because of it makes me want to try new technology. so i'll leave a comment in hopes to be able to start with something new and learn more about this. and that way my g/f can get a decent phone for once... yeah she'll be getting my storm 1:) ...

If Crackberry want to pay for me to upgrade to the next great thing - bring it on (unless this turns out to be like so many other competitons these days - only available in the US!)
I really enjoy my Storm, and if they make the improvements I've been seeing touted around the Intraweb, its going to be an amziing piece of kit!

As much as I would LOVE for a June release and to get a free Storm 2, realism has to hit, and I doubt there will be any releases before September. However, a boy can always dream!!!

I love my storm, It is my first Berry and I can't imagine switching to any other device... However, the dust under the screen is driving me crazy! And if Verizon and RIM really are just trying to cover their butts with a newer, maybe slightly more powerful version of the Storm then I'm all in. It's sad, but it's the price ya pay... Gimme gimme gimme!

I love the idea of a full screen (especially with my eyesight) and all the special things you can do with the Storm. We ended up with a Curve when we got our first data phones. [Can't afford to upgrade our phones, so there will probably be a Storm 3 or 4 before we can upgrade.]

Is there any new update to when it's supposed to be out?

I got my BB Storm a few months ago. It's too bad I didn't know about this release or I would have waited. I wish Verizon or RIM would have a buy back program were we could at least trade in our GEN1 storms for a price off the GEN2.

I always wanted to have a touch screen phone, but I have bad experiences on my PDA, it's hard to type using those tiny stylus...

So my first blackberry device is the Bold... I didn't know Storm has suretype, if I've known it in the first place, I would definetely have bought the Storm instead.

Now I'm just hoping to get my Storm 2 from crackberry XD
