Last week while I was killing time in my hotel room at WES, I stumbled across a fantastic application called SmartAlerts.  It comes from Bellshare -  the same developers that brought us BerryBuzz, BerryPopup and BerryWeather. SmartAlerts adds great functionality to the standard email alerts and filters on your device. It allows you to easily specify custom alerts for particular emails (addresses, subjects, messages) missed calles, SMS and even calendar entires. What does this mean to you? It means you can fully customize your alerts and have even more control of your device. SmartAlerts integrates with both BerryBuzz (which I think is a must for this app) and BerryPopup. Using SmartAlerts together with BerryBuzz lets you control your LED settings fully as well. I know that some of you may argue that the functionality of BerryBuzz should have just been included in SmartAlerts, but it wasn't so unfortunately you'll need both apps to maximize the usage. The cool thing about the app is that it integrates into your Options screen. This makes it easier as you don't have to worry about an added icon and is more seamless within the general device settings. I've been using SmartAlerts for a few days now and I can truly say I don't know how I ever lived without it. The possibilities for custom alert combinations are endless. If you are a true power user, I highly recommend you check out what SmartAlerts and BerryBuzz can do together.

Get SmartAlerts: SmartAlerts is currently available in the Crackberry App Store for $8.95, but if you purchase before Thursday night you can save 25% ($2.24) by using the coupon code crackberrysmart25. * Coupon only valid when buying on your device via or the new App Store Client.

Contest: If you'd like to grab a free copy of SmartAlerts you're in luck! We have 100 to give away, so just make sure you are logged in and leave a comment to this post.  In the meantime you can check out a free trial. Contest ends this Sunday at Midnight PST.

Contest: 100 Free Copies of SmartAlerts!

Free is always good!
Id like to grab a free copy of SmartAlerts, I have many email contacts both personal and business.
This would simplify my email alerts when I am painting and need to know who is trying to contact me. This app.would geradly improve my handyman business.

I don't post, obviously, but this seemed like as good a time as any.

I don't know much about smart alerts, but I just got the PS3 theme for my 8330 and it's pretty cool. Some tweeks, such as a different font would be nice, but worth $7.

I really like the sound of this! That's the only thing I haven't liked about my bb. The functionality of the alerts.... :)

I dont know which one would be good to get. I keep on doing these little contest in hopes of getting one..maybe this is my chance. lol.

Hey, I got the trial and this is a great app. It actually helps save me time looking up appts etc. Loving it! Hope Im a winner for full version!

Happy happy joy joy! I would love a copy of this! May the CrackBerry Gods shine brightly upon my post! :-)

I have purchased berrybuzz for my girlfriend's phone and mine. She uses it allot for her business, but I have d/l the trial version of smartalert and I think it will make life much easier for her with this program. I am thinking about purchasing smartalert for her phone and also berry popup apps. I think this will help her be more organized for personal life as well as for her business.

Thanks for this review.

Ah, if only this program could fix those annoying apps that don't make proper use of applications that don't properly implement standardized notifications.

Me too posts are the perfect place for soapboxing; nobody will ever read this anyway!

it's great when two applications are integrated's almost like you get more functionality than each app individually. I'd like to give this one a try...

I currently have the BerryBuzz app which adds great LED alerts and now with SmartAlerts your alerts can be completely customizable... this is a must app for me... :)

Every true professional needs to learn to use alert programs for their Blackberry. A free copy is always an accepted bonus :>)

Would be perfect to divide the diff email accounts into diff colors. Kind of pricey though

Mekka lekka hi,
Mekka hiney ho.
Mekka lekka hi,
Mekka chaney ho!
Jambi says give me
this app to go.

I've tried BerryBuzz and thought it was a great app. Definitely going to have to download this before I leave town!

Sounds like this would be a cool app to have on your BB. Would love to have a copy of this one. Looks very usefull. Get alerts without having to cycle through all your apps.

SmartAlerts would be a most welcomed app to use each day, to be sure that important tasks were not missed.

It sounds like a program that is what every BB owner should have. Wow! Thanks for the chance at the give away.

This looks great! Would love to have an app that I can customize my events. I need to sift through the hundreds of events/day with ease.

I've been using Berryweather and Berrybuzz for a while now. Both are incrediable apps. I am looking forward to getting one of the free copies of SmartAlert now!

This app seems good. I am just unsure if it is worth the $$$. would love to install it, just not pay for it.

This would be a great tool for IT professionals that use text messages to monitor critical events. (i.e server health, etc.)
