Wow, been a while since we seen a leaked OS for the BlackBerry Curve 8520 that's for sure. in any event, we now has OS 5.0.0.1022 up for grabs. While we're not sure as of yet what may have changed within the OS, we do know it's unofficial and with that you should be sure to back your data up before loading just in case.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). Where's the love for the 8700g users? It's been years since we've had a leak. I'm going to jump ship and get a razr if they can't catch up with the times.

Bahaha! How about getting a Peek 9?
Drew Oswalt Nov 19, 2010 at 6:40 am
I would rather get a pager. j/k
It's not bad. And I would take a Peek 9 over a itouch. lol

I have 5.0.0.1022 loaded and right now, There is not a big difference. I did see that I have more available memory than before. I had about 110 MB available on 5.0.0.900 and now I am showing 125.3 MB of available memory. I will post more when I find something

Will download this when I got home later. Don't know what diffrence it could has but I definitely wish a better battery life!! The 5.0.0.900's battery life way to draining!! I got 30% in the middle of the day where when I used the .822's I saw the 30% right at the end of the day when I'll be going to bed.

Downloading now, wish me luck as I'm restricted to 3G Mobile Broadband for rest of month. Hope this fixes the keypad back light issue that ~I've got along with a full 100% back light even when it's set at 10%.

As I posted in the forum ...
Well, doesnt work for me ...
Tried upgrading to it about 5 times this morning, and frankly I'm bored of it now working for me now, so sod it! :-D
I'm using v5.0.0.681 currently, and was looking forward to the upgrade but I cannot upgrade to it using any of the following;
DM6
BBSAK
Loader
None of these work - loader bombs out on me and says USB isnt connected - DM6 hits me with an error and BBSAK says there is no OS installed.
Rubbish (like Katy Perrys music, happens to be on the radio now ... she should be seen and NOT heard!) ...
snuggiebug Nov 19, 2010 at 9:32 am
I received the same message when trying to load the OS through BBSAK. I had to use both DM6 and BBSAK to load.
So I did my backup through DM6, backed up my apps with BBSAK, wiped the device with BBSAK, loaded the OS with DM6, restored data from DM6, restored apps from BBSAK...

it seems that my phone is unable to charge when connected to the charger... is it possible due to the firmware? cause it was okay when i was using 5.0.0.900.
berryxmas Nov 19, 2010 at 7:44 am
that's not a good thing to hear about... :( how about charging through usb?
wahizul Nov 19, 2010 at 8:11 am
even though there's no charge indicator, but in status option, i can see the battery percentage increasing... can anyone who upgraded to this firmware confirm?
snuggiebug Nov 19, 2010 at 9:28 am
I have experienced that with Version 900. It may be a problem that carried over.
snuggiebug Nov 19, 2010 at 9:26 am
Since my upgrade, I have noticed a sporadic lag when trying to access apps after phone has been idle. The lag will last about 10 seconds or so. It has happened twice since yesterday.
berryxmas Nov 19, 2010 at 11:21 am
This surely is helpful for the matter that is being discussed.
SniperFery Nov 19, 2010 at 10:53 am
What's with the spammers all over the blog posts to sell!? It's weird any how they keep posting it's annoying though especially when I'm waiting for review about this leaked OS!!
KjzImpact Nov 19, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I just updated, loading apps right now.. for the guy who said about it doesnt show charging... it does! the lightning icon just blinks..
wahizul Nov 19, 2010 at 1:05 pm
the charging icon appeared after i changed my theme... =) guess the problem caused by the theme.
berryxmas Nov 19, 2010 at 5:21 pm
so is this release reliable? I mean, you feel so confident with it that you'll leave it on your phone?
Redz20 Nov 19, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Is this a big step up from the current official OS (5.0.0.681)?
I'd be greatful if someone who tested this leaked OS made a short list of pros/cons. Cheers!
Rolandh Nov 20, 2010 at 11:48 am
It seems stable enough to me, will leave it on until it goes official or it goes official under another version number.

anyone with a "complete" review about this one?
BlackB_G Nov 23, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Perfectly ok to me. Noticed that the notification sound going silent issue does not occur anymore.. battery is is definitely better and no more lag than i had on the last OS i used. 5.0.0.822.
The bug i had with the facebook app where it's sound setting in profiles disappeared.. happened once but not again since a battery pull unlike on the .822 where every 3 days it happened.
Better in my opinion.. go for it.
snuggiebug Nov 24, 2010 at 9:56 am
OS 5.0.0.1022 overall was OK to me, but not stable enough for me to keep it installed. There was a sporadic lag when trying to do anything after he phone sits idle. There was also a point where all the sound notifications went silent and this really irked me. I rely heavily on the sound notifications instead of looking for the LED indicator to know I have messages. The charging notification blinks now instead of being shown consistently. But it does not blink constantly. There were a few occasions where I was charging my phone and the indicator was not blinking at all. I did experience an unresolved battery drain in which my phone was at %50 power within a couple of hours of cutting my phone on for the day without using any apps yet. So I downgraded back down to OS 5.0.0.900 until there is an official release. This is my account and I hope it helps someone out there. I say try it for yourself and see how you like it and if it does not work for you, you can always downgrade to your previous version
